Ever enchanting...

I was SOooooOOOooooooOOoo HAPPY to be able to be in iium again!? I jumped at kak Gie's invitation to visit her there. Tho' I've never drove there myself, I was willing to go there at the same time experimented with my fon's GPS. I was quite happy with it. It was a long drive.

We spent time doing work at the library, shopped at the bazaar in front of the mosque, solat at the mosque (i soOOo miss this :"| ) , ate at engineering, education and HS depts... did i mention i slept there? no, i did not ;p

I'm in it again!

We also went out together to Jusco in Wangsa Maju ;p & spent one whole day at Times Square & Midvalley. I swore I'd get sick on being in the LRTs as it's been so long since I last been on one!? I followed kak Gie in her search for some Lit. books. Kak Gie amazes me in her jihad on that. At the end of the day, we were confident that we've surpassed the government's call on 10,000 steps per day, haha.. I just wish I had the right shoes on..

Oh, our time together also got us into trying out some Arabian (Labib's) , Chinese (de templer's),Turkish (Sweet Chat's - love the Soy bean jelly with kiwi topping!), and Korean food (Midvalley's food court) :) Apart from the Malay food of course, kak Gie couldn't abstain herself from indulging into veges dishes. She brought home asparagus, sweet beans & some blueberries to Jengka, for goodness sake! hehee...

Throughout our journey, we reminisced on the old days as iium students. After this, insha Allah more visits to come! ;)

Sex education: Give right info

Alhamdulillah...managed to work my brains out till 3am for this. I hope the tulah does not stay with me after this!?

I just got to read the book even though with mounting asgmnts. Another reason was because; it's an illustrations/comic book, & i kinda like the title, wic is enough to make me laugh :D
The illustrations also seem to have some familiar strokes..turned out that Mr. Fleming did some illustrations for children books, which i may have come across.

Of course you might find a couple issues inside a bit outdated [but functional] (talk abt Friends Reunited & handphones) but the rest are just timeless. It is quite interesting that everything revolve around a character going abt some middle age issues. I find the author's way of handling the main character a bit crude...yet charming. I like her having the nonchalant husband there & still there, what with her eccentricities etc :p

Anyway, glad i could read it in one go!

So I went to the BBW Book Sale at South City Plaza with my baby sister... adding more to my list of bought-books-to-be-read.
But, I managed to save 70-90% on everything compared to what they would have cost me elsewhere, other times ;)

Blizzard of books at Seri Kembangan mall

The course started Fri evening 29 Oct to Sun evening 31 Oct.

So a day before the workshop there was 1 final exam paper & the day before that there was a candidature defense session that we had actually asked for excuse due to impending due date for the qualitative asgmnt (+ the xm to prepare for?!). In the end, we had to endure it all. Oh, did I mention? Our interviewee didn't come on the appointed time. So our last resort was to do an online interview with 2 different people that very night.

I made arrangement wit NI to have her spend the time at the budget hotel with me & do what she could do with the asgmnt first while I attend the workshop. She became my driver to &; from the workshop venue. Apparently there was a couple who were among the workshop participants spending the nights at the hotel also. NI gave them a lift on the final night & last day of the workshop as suddenly their car broke down. They were really nice couple, committed in sharing & conveying health issues through their blog (the husband is a doctor).

Well, i was a bit disappointed that my workplace did not send anyone to the workshop. Being the main centre of u-know-what, this workshop would help in preparing the annual bulletin etc. But then, if I were to put myself there & happened to be chosen, it would be quite a dilemma for me also. Can't bear to think of the workload I would have to shoulder while away on course.

Anyhow, initially I was supposed to attend the workshop with a free mind..until that qualitative asgmnt made its grand entrance in the last class. I was so thankful that NI could join me at the hotel & we discussed on the asgmnt once i returned from the workshop, which was abt 11pm each night. She did her part quite good while i was at the workshop.

I was lucky to have received email abt the workshop fr RS and was able to enjoy the discounted fee being the early bird. The participants received a certificate, a complete notes files & invaluable tips, plus very hearty meals! I kept telling the management that the food they prepared for us were so mewah!

One of the workshop gurus put a tulah (sort of a curse) on us participants; if we did not produce any article within a week after the workshop, all the knowledge/tips we gathered there would be lost. UH-OH...

Points to remember &never repeat after this;
It is illegal to upload photos/videos or copy song lyrics then paste/put to blog etc. without the consent/permission of the rightful/original owner.

Hmm, this is going to be hard...

p/s: I'm sure one of the gurus, was a classmate in a feature writing class I took while in iium.
p/p/s: I wish I could stay another night in Wangsa Maju & explore the area like a tourist :p

We were not supposed to have anymore assignment for the weekend. Or for the semester to be exact. To be exact it was supposed to be over & done with had it not been for the extra new asgmnt put to a new other grp. & had it not been for the 'changed' nature of the previously given asgmnt. The latter was 'cleverly' directed by the seniors, to my chagrin.

I had spent several nights putting together the observation notes at the bus stop, the one that we had done abt a month ago. During which, NI & I had spent more than 2 hours sitting in the sun on the hilly area opposite the bus stop taking notes of what's going on there in the heat, enduring also the endless droning of the buses' engines & people staring at us like 'what these two idiots doing sitting under the heat from the opposite side of the bus stop?'. One passing guy actually asked us whether we were having a picnic?! I wish!?

Now, from being a simple qualitative practise, the asgmnt had turned into a complete qualitative [psycho] project. So, the observation notes i had rearranged became useless. Moreover, our group (NI & I) was chosen out of the blue, among all the other convincing groups, to present it on 3rd November. Just because, we had the 'ipt's bus stop' as our main venue. Argh, you gotta be kidding?! Now that the nature of that supposedly-done asgmnt had changed, we had to redo.

The others laughed at us of course. I amused them with my quick reply when the prof asked "How on earth is the observation at the bus stop would relate to the Media?" as it was so obvious the reply was made on the spot (we were still discussing on our title the moment the prof questioned us abt it). So, our asgmnt became a focused media-related observation at the bus stop.

The hindrance cum challenge; the only weekend we had, to redo & discuss & arrange our documents, was the weekend when I would be involved in a bulletin/article writing workshop in Wangsa Maju.

We immediately planned another observation. We did two; morning & evening session, just in case. It was quite tiring, standing then sitting down then walking from one end to the other while taking notes. We kept repeating it on both occasions trying to look natural also, haha :p Taking photos of the passengers waiting was quite a challenge also as we tried to avoid making it so obvious. We didn't want to have to ask for permission each time we take photos of the many people there. Except for this one Korean guy who willingly let us take a photo of him. I thot he was Chinese at first until he asked me to speak to him in English ;p

Outpouring of emotion should be of any kind, good or bad...I should be able to do so anyhow now. But I guess the change is too sudden...arghh...I'm stuck here...

On second thought, I better get back to my assignment! (Arghh)
