Themed-lunch with cubicle mates

It’s the brainchild of kak Yan. It was a Tex-Mex Lunch! Casts &Roles;

Kak Yan - Chili dog sauce

Ash - Potato chips (barbeque & cheddar herbs flavour)

Lat - Buns, Tea, Macaroni salad, Cold milk (to go with dessert)

aNNdiNN - Hot dogs & Banana crisp (dessert)

Well, Lat offered her place as our texmex laypark lunch venue ;p So it was obvious she tried to go all the way making us feel comfy. Thanks a lot Lat!

All the while while watching the repeat of So You Think You Can Dance on Astro. ..By the time we had our second helping with the chili dogs, we forgot that we haven’t had our dessert!? Hehe…but we made the effort to indulge in them still a lil’ later.

Kak Yan's Chili dog sauce is specially made based on the recipe given by her elem. schoolmate Darlene Raines Dow from US via FB;

Ingredients

1/2 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons onions, chopped
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 Tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon pepper
1 Tablespoon cayenne pepper
8 hot dogs, cooked
8 hot dog buns

Directions
1 In a large saucepan, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink.
2 Drain.
3 Stir in ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, pepper and cayenne.
4 Bring to a boil.
5 Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes or until mix reaches desired thickness.
6 Place hotdogs in buns and top each with about 2 T. beef mix.

We love it! Thanks to Darlene also ;)

Lat’s mac salad is from SimplyRecipe. I love the distinct taste of the coriander leaves in the mixture & thank you Lat, for minimising the amount of raw onion ;)

Wow, thanks mates! Fulfilling indeed!

Poached Banana with Dark Choc & Dried Cranberries

  1. Poach cut bananas(ripe) in a little water plus a pinch of salt till simmering.
  2. Turn off the fire
  3. Arrange on a plate, sprinkle chopped dark choc & dried cranberries
  4. & voila!

A good dark choc will melt in the warm bananas, non-oily. I just used Tudor Gold dark choc, (what was available at home) & the dried cranberries infused in natural strawberry & elderberry juice by FirstChoice. They also have the ones infused in natural orange flavour. There’s also naturally dried ones by Sunsweet. If you have other suggestions, do share :)

p/s: Banyak betul pisang Emak bagi, terima kasih Mak… I also ate the poached bananas with sambal tumis bilis, hehe…

It’s oxymoronic, right?

It’s sort of their trademark in every product, by VirTgo. Find them online

Go watch Alice in Wonderland -3D!

My childhood is revisited when i went to watch the movie, courtesy of Ms.Gee :)
Though it was a condensed version of the tale (it felt so abrupt that u feel like asking for more), it is satisfying being able to watch a movie version of it.

I remember when i was small, i used to repeat reading the book countless times, experimenting with different tones/ intonation or even different imagination of being Alice/ the cat/the rabbit/ the queen/ the caterpillar etc. hehe...

I have to say that when there r Johnny Depp & Helena Carter in a movie, you are not to miss it! (not to say that i havent missed out on any of their movies :P!)

Oh, those who have watched/ plan to watch the movie, try to identify in which scene was this poem recited? ----> The Jabberwocky poem by Lewis Carroll (my 1st posting on the other blog).

p/s: Did i tell u that it was the Malay version book? :)

Unique Kuih Bangkit

Kak Yan shared these with me. She got them as door gifts/souvenirs from her friend’s wedding in Beranang, Selangor.

It’s almost as big as my palm & it’s the 1st time I’ve ever eaten a kuih bangkit (coconut-milk based cookie) with a filling, which was caramelized grated coconut.

Kuih Koci (Malay Dumplings?) commercialized!

Ash let us have some samples of the Green Tea, Black Bean & Red Bean flavours. Real nice!

Thank you Very Much :)

It’s halal & being sold at the heart of Melaka town. Sorry, forgot the name of the shop. I think the label of the product itself was the name of the shop. She said it’s nearby Dataran Pahlawan & very near to the McDonald there.

What with the mesmerizing cum ironic tagline… indeed?! ------> “A Tale Wrapped in Banana Leaf”.

Only now it’s wrapped in plastic, non-sticky/ non-oily & conveniently packed.

I must say I have come to like this version better! ;p
