My full-time job

John and I were talking tonight after the kids were in bed (and after we watched 24, of course), and I was complaining about how I never get a day off work. I offered to trade John for a day. I could totally figure out how to do surgery on a bunch of little mice, right? I also was complaining about how my "pay-checks" are pretty low for the amount of work I do. John agreed of course, but then he continued to reassure me that at least I have great job security in these tough economic times! Our kids are always going to need a Mom! At least for the next 18 years. What a wise husband I have! Oh, and as a side-note, I am officially known by the IRS (according to our tax returns) as a "trophy wife." Should I take that as a compliment?

Porter's Birthday

Yes, it was over a week ago. But, since I sort-of use this blog as a journal, I still wanted to post about Porter's Birthday Party. We actually celebrated a few days late so that Porter's Uncle Dave could be here to party with us. We had a monkey-themed party. It was pretty fun!

Here's the cake, plus two little monkey cakes (we thought we should do one for Ivy too so she wouldn't be too jealous).

Don't worry- Ivy will help blow out the candle.

Um... Are you guys sure this is ok?

Yum!

Ivy playing Pin-The-Tail-On-The-Monkey. Porter loved it too, but he wouldn't stand still long enough for me to take a picture.
Bad picture of Mommy, but super cute of Porter getting so excited about his present!

the BIG news!

Well the news is in... John matched in a General Surgery residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis! This is definintely a great program for John and for our family! It's pretty funny though, we really don't know anything about Indiana! But we're getting all geared up for the change, and are anxious to see what the next few years of our lives will bring!

Disney On Ice

We spent Porter's birthday at Disney on Ice, and Ivy and Porter loved it! And I can honestly say that even I got a few butteflies in my stomach when Mickey and Cinderella came out!

Where has the time gone?

Porter is 1!!!!! Unbelievable!!! Honestly, much of the last year is a blur to me! But he has been the sweetest baby ever, and now I guess he is a sweet toddler!

....more birthday pics to come!

Now it's your turn!

If you are reading this then you've been tagged. Go to the file where your photos are stored, open the fourth file and then post the fourth picture in that file explaining when and why it was taken. Have fun!
A while back we had a long a cold Sunday afternoon, so I decided to bake bread. It was only after I already had most of the ingredients in that I realized the recipe called for 20 cups of flour! Yep, that's right.....20!!! It made 5 loaves of bread, a dozen hamburger buns, and 2 pizza crusts. Haha! It was pretty fun!
