It wouldn't be a birthday post if I didn't say, WHERE DID TIME GO? And, HOW ARE MY BABIES 6 ALREADY?
That's right, my firstborns, my handsome, sweet, smart boys are 6!!! To be perfectly honest, we did a lot of the celebrating the day before. We gave them their presents and had their birthday party with friends on the 30th. This year, we went to Makutu Island for the party. It was so nice not to worry about planning and cleaning. We got there, let the kids run wild for an hour, gathered all the kids into our own special room, ate pizza, sang Happy birthday, ate cake, opened up presents, then let the kids run wild some more. And the birthday boys got to jump, too. And we actually were able to sneak Kendall in, too, to jump. Hehe. The kids had so much fun! Thank you Leilani for bringing Kai, Luke, and Eli. And thank you Krystee for bringing Ethan (Mason was in school). And thank you Melanie for bringing Merrill, Lewis, and Pepper. Sadly, Kiera, Baya, and Viena couldn't make it, but they gave Logan and Taylor a nice Hot Wheels track and cars, which was really sweet of them.
After Makutu Island, we asked our cousins if they wanted to come back to our house to smash a piñata. Logan and Taylor had mentioned that night before that they wanted a piñata for their birthday. Well, I guess we've been doing it every year, so why not this year? Thank you, daddy for taking a late night trip to Party City to find the perfect piñata. It was a nice way to end the celebrations that day.
After our cousins left, we had to head to school to meet Logan, Taylor, and Kendall's teachers. I don't know how people with more than 3 kids in school do it. It was exhausting. We actually had to split up to make it within the timeframe that we had. But the teachers all seem really nice.
Logan: D. Wozniak (Kindergarten)
Taylor: T. Shinabarger (Kindergarten)
Kendall: Miss Chris, Miss Leanne, and Miss Karen (Preschool)
On the boys' actual birthday, we went to Sedona again. We rented an ATV and rode until everyone was crying happy tears. Eventually though, the kids all fell asleep in the back of the ATV. Perhaps it's because we left the house at 4 AM, but I don't know how they fell asleep with all these bumps that we were taking at 40 mph. It was a pretty crazy and wild ride. That afternoon, we went back to Slide Rock, per Logan's request. Of course he and daddy made the most of it, which I am so glad. But a storm was coming in, it was sprinkling, the water was freezing, and Taylor, Kendall, and I just weren't feeling it. Call us party poopers, if you want, but there was no way I would have risked frostbite on myself or my 1% body fat babies. Logan and daddy could handle it, tough, since they have a higher percentage body fat. And I mean that in the best way possible.
When we came back home, we sang happy birthday to Logan and Taylor with individual size desserts. We've done it before and I like the idea of everyone picking the dessert that they want. It's not very fancy or classy, but it works. And we were gone all day, so I didn't have time to bake anything.
Happy birthday, Logan:
You are decisive, ambitious, smart, sweet, and social. You have a lot of confidence in yourself. You like to think that you know a lot of things. You also like to have things done your way. You tend to rub it in when you win at something and can be a sore loser when you lose. You tend to see the bad side of things- like church is always boring. And you blame everyone but yourself- your friends made you do it. You can be a little impatient and bossy. But hey, nobody's perfect. Momma loves you just the way you are. You tend to tell people what to do and how to do it, but I know you mean well. You're just trying to be helpful. Lately, you've been getting kind of bored with toys, and you would rather help me with house chores. You actually enjoy doing the dishes, putting the laundry in the washer and dryer, and cooking. You like vacuuming and mopping, but you don't enjoy sweeping as much. You enjoy playing board games with the family, swimming, riding your scooter, and going to the movie theatre.
Your favorite subject is science, especially making "potions". Your handwriting is getting really good, and you are starting to learn how to read well.
Momma is so lucky to have you. I love you very much. Your smile lights up a room. Your energy is contagious. And when you love something, your whole heart is in it.
Happy birthday, Taylor:
You are sweet, caring, loving, affectionate, smart, and laidback. You tolerate a lot from your brother and sister, and it keeps a certain amount of peace at home. You like playing by yourself in the playroom but welcome anyone who wants to play with you. You tend to get frustrated at yourself when a task proves to be difficult. You are usually quiet, but sometimes you get really goofy and silly. You like to make people laugh. You tend to see the bad side of things, but in a different way, because you take things personally- like "I'm never gonna be big enough!" and "They hate me!" You use very powerful words to describe how you feel. Always. Never. Hate. I'm trying really hard to help you understand that things won't "always" feel that way. When I get mad at you, it breaks your heart, then it breaks mine. I don't like it when we both feel that way. We quickly forgive, forget, and move on.
You enjoy going swimming, and you have no fear of jumping into the deep end, even though you are still an emerging swimmer. Most of the time, you would rather play inside, with your toys. You like going to the movie theatre and eating popcorn and candy. You don't particularly enjoy going to school, but like most things, you tolerate it. Like when I kiss you like crazy all over the face, you tolerate it. And when I squeeze your buns after a shower, once again you tolerate it. (I should probably stop doing that now that you're 6.)
I love you so much. Your smile could make the most miserable soul smile. Your laugh is contagious. And you love people unconditionally. You are the sweetest boy, ever.
