Per her request, she got crepes for breakfast... with Nutella inside.
Because her birthday fell on a Monday this year, we held her birthday party the previous Saturday. When we gave out the invitations to all of her classmates, plus friends from church, I did not expect so many children to RSVP. We had 24 children in attendance! 24 children at Peter Piper Pizza. That's a whole lot of kids! Thankfully, some parents stayed and helped out. Kendall got super spoiled with gifts! Lots of Trolls toys, Shopkins, makeup, and jewelry-making kits.
Kendall is truly loved by her friends. Look at all these sweet notes wishing her a happy birthday. Today I asked her who her best friend is. She said she has too many friends to pick just one, that everyone is her best friend. I love my social butterfly.
On her real birthday, Kendall wore the sparkly new skirt Alexis gave her for her birthday. When she got back from school, she got to open more presents, like the ones from William and I, and from both sets of grandparents. For dinner that night, Kendall wanted... dun dun dun... McDonald's! Okay, then. And Cold Stone with a candle on top for her dessert. Happy 6th birthday, sweet and sassy angel.
We are so blessed to have Kendall in our lives. Sure, she bosses everyone around sometimes, and she picks fights, and she pouts when she doesn't get her way, but most importantly, she loves everyone. She is a loyal friend. She will fight for those she cares about, or for the weak that gets picked on. She never gives up, and gives 110%, every time. She is helpful, most of the time, and loves to mop, do laundry, and put the dishes away. But her favorite thing of all is to help out with Alexis. Alexis is not always happy about it when I have to free my hands from her and let Kendall be in charge, but at the same time, Kendall makes her laugh louder than anyone in the family. And she doesn't even have to try... I love my 1-on-1 time with her, when she tells me about the boys that she likes at school and at church. And I love when she asks me to tell her stories at night, just like my mom used to tell me bedtime stories. I also love that she can read on her own now. Chapter books can be scary when you're used to reading books with lots of pictures. But they don't scare her! She reads them to me, she reads them to Alexis, and she reads them to herself. If the iPad is not an option (electronics are forbidden on school nights), she will gladly pick up a book and start reading. I love my little bookworm. So happy she joined our family 6 years ago!
