This past Tuesday Callie had her Christmas Dance recital. My sister Ang has some really cute picutres so once I get those I may post some more.
As we were getting ready to leave I set Callie's recital clothes out. I ran back to the bedroom to get something and when I came out I found this. He makes me laugh.
All ready to Dance to Sugar Plum Fairies song.
Callie with her Grandpa and Grandma Marx.
With her dance teacher.
Everyone that was at the recital to support Callie (minus Nate and me). I wasn't sure who was going to make it. The morning of the recital she asked me who was coming. I told her that some people were going to try to make it, but something could come up and they wouldn't be able to come. Callie then was so sad and started crying asking why no one was coming to watch her dance. I am so happy that I have such a supportive family. They really made Callie's night.
We have had a busy December. We have Jace in a mini creative/tumbling class. The first weekend in December Jace had his class open house performance. His teacher wanted the moms up there dancing with them. Of course Jace had stage fright and wouldn't really dance, but we took video anyway. Here is the video of Jace NOT dancing.
The next day we had about 50 people over at our house for dinner for the Nyberg Christmas party.
The following weekend Callie held her annual friend Christmas party. This year she decided that she wanted to do a pajama party and watch a movie which was just fine with me. It meant less work.
There are about 20 little girls in our neighborhood that will be going to pre-school with Callie next year. Some of them could not make it to the party so we only had 14 girls.
Ever wonder what a house full of fourteen 4 and 5 year olds looks like? Well here you go. This is how they watch a movie.
In an effort to teach my children how very blessed they are we did a little family service project. We gathered up clothes and toys to take and donate to a local homeless shelter. I made Callie and Jace go through their toys and choose ones to give away. I was so proud of them. The picture below is of all the toys they gathered.
We also went to the store and the kids got to pick out items for gifts to give to children living at the shelter.
A friend of mine and her kids joined us. Here they are at the donation location of the shelter. After this picture was taken we went inside to deliver the gifts. Nate was able to meet us there during his lunch break and then we went to lunch afterwards.
Callie got a new bed.
And we re-finished Callie's old bed for Jace.
Callie and I had a little girl's night out with our friends where we went to dinner and then went and saw The Nutcracker.
The whole group.
We had a little scheduling conflict and so Uncle Jared took Callie and Jace to visit santa at their Grandpa Marx's work. Callie did just fine, but Jace refused to sit on Santa's lap so Jared got a picture with Santa also.
I bought the kids a little snow shovel and Jace helped me shovel the driveway one day.
Callie had a little singing program at her pre-school. As time went on she got more and more nervous because of all the people watching her and she eventually started crying. I think part of the reason is because she was so exhausted and had been getting to bed late several night previous to this.
This is the very first song they performed. Callie participated by doing actions, but refused to sing. You can tell how nervous she is in the video.
So I didn't take any pictures on Thanksgiving Day, but we had some of our family come over to our house to eat the feast.
Jace went with Nate that morning to play in the Turkey bowl. He decided that he was qualified to play since he has footballs on his pajamas. While pointing at his pajamas he kept telling us, "I play football. See, Football"
Some other activities we did over the weekend were, we put up our outdoor Christmas decorations.
We decorated our Chrismas Tree.
And we went to Temple Square to see the lights.
We stopped for dinner on the way home from seeing the lights. Callie wanted spagetti with no sauce. Jace wanted to hold the "to go" box on the way home and he decided that the spagetti belonged on his head. Such a character.
For Halloween we did our traditional treats and cider in the garage. Halloween is so much better this way.
Nate took the kids trick-or-treating while I stayed and handed out the candy and treats.
Our little tiger and unicorn.
We had such good weather this Halloween I was afraid Callie would get too hot in her costume. But the weather did cool off pretty quick once the sun went down. We had a great day!
Callie's pre-school did a little program on Halloween. She wore her kitty costume again so when I was drawing on her face that morning Jace decided he wanted to be a kitty too.
The program started out with a parade and all of the morning clasess walked around and paraded in their costumes for all to see.
Callie and her 3 friends from our street. They are all in the same class.
The children sang songs and acted out actions and quoted from a Halloween book. It was all really cute.
Here is a video of part of the program.
There is one little girl from our neighborhood in a different class so we wanted to get a picture with all the girls, but one ended up leaving before we could take it.
Jace and Callie playing in the lobby castle afterwards.
We lucked out and had a lot of Halloween festivities and parties to attend (well mostly Callie did).
The Friday before Halloween we had our ward Christmas Party and Trunk-or-treat Callie wore her unicorn costume.
Jace was a tiger this year which is one of his favorite animals.
I was a devil. I actually dressed up this year because I preformed in a dance at the party.
On the Sunday before Halloween we had our annual Marx Halloween party at my parents house. Callie wore her cat costume and Jace refused to dress up.
Callie with her cousins and aunt.
Our pink and black witch and cat.
Carving pumpkins. Jace was not a big fan of cleaning out the pumpkins. He just like to cut them. Callie didn't mind the slimeyness and dug right in.
Our Pumpkins - Finished products. I helped with this one
Daddy and Callie did this one
Thier Uncle Pat did this one for us.
I drew the kitty on this one.
The day before Halloween Callie got to dress up for her dance class.
Jace decided to dress-up to. He put on my knee high boots and tried to walk around. My friends said I should dress him up as Puss and Boots for Halloween.
That afternoon Callie went to a friend's Halloween party and she got these Monster teeth as one of her prizes.
