Easter

In Mid march I decided to throw an Easter Party/Egg Hunt for all the little kids in the neighborhood.  We held it at the church since the weather is still a little chilly and unpredictable.  The day of the party it snowed in the morning.  Below are some pictures from the event.

I made mini cupcakes to double as the centerpieces on the table.

I also assembled little craft kits for each of the children.

Below Callie and Jace are checking out what was in their eggs from the egg hunt.

A picture of about half the kids that participated.  I think we had a total of 43 children show up (about 65 people total counting the adults).  It was a fun activity.

This year I decided to try the shaving cream method for dying eggs.  The kids loved it so much I think I will do it every year.  We taped baggies on their hands and let them loose.

They loved rolling the eggs around and getting all messy.

The eggs turned out really cool too.

The Easter Bunny decided to cut back this year and not have very many treats (since the kids had 3 egg hunts in the past 2 weeks).  The kids were still excited about everything in their baskets.

In the afternoon we did a little FHE about Christ's resurrection.  Callie and Jace both taught part of the lesson.  In the evening we had some of my family over for Easter dinner.  Grandma Marx brought an Easter craft for everyone to do and we all had fun making our creations.  I was really bad in didn't pull out my camera so I don't have any pictures from that evening.  We had a good Easter holiday.

March

Here are some of the things we did in March.  A group of moms in our neighborhood decided that it would be fun for our kids to do "A Trip Around the World."  Each month one of the moms takes a turn and teaches the children about a different country, show them where it is located on a map, have a craft, and let them taste food from that country.  Each child has a little passport with their pictures that they get stamped for each country they visit.

March was my turn and I chose to do England.  It was a lot of fun.  We started with their craft which was decorating their plates and cups and finger painting the Flag of England.  Then I had them sit in front of the TV while I play a video from YouTube of a plane taking off and landing.  Once their plane landed we stamped their passports and I had a slide show of popular places to visit in England.  The kids favorite was when I went over the vocabulary words listed below.  They thought they were hilarious and would laugh at each one.

Then I explained about afternoon and evening tea and we had a little tea party (with pink lemonade to drink) with the plates and cups they decorated.

Our kids got really into St. Patrick's Day this year.  In pre-school Callie was taught about the mischievous leprechauns and somehow came to the assumption that there is a leprechaun in every one's houses.  The leprechaun messed up and moved around things in Callie's and Jace's rooms.  They loved this and kept running around the house trying to find the "silly leprechaun."  Soon everything that was out of place in our house was blamed on the leprechaun.  This actually lasted for a couple of weeks afterwards.  Just the other day Jace started crying and Callie insisted that she did not touch him and them went on to ask "Jace did the leprechaun pinch you because I didn't touch you?  Was it the leprechaun?"  I was trying not to laugh.  Below is a picture of our special St. Patrick's Day meal.  We had green eggs and gold coin pancakes.
