January 2009 - Trip to California - Days 1-2

Day 2 - Disneyland

The kids and I took a trip to California to visit my Mom and Uncle Randy in January. Aunt Kerilyn was there the first week, so the kids were spoiled. Kerilyn and Grandma took us all out to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory the first night and it was delicious. The next morning we headed to Disneyland. We had a great time. The kids loved every minute of it.

This is the Tram ride from the parking lot to the park. Sherman and Eliza kept calling it a train and had a great time.

We were lucky when we arrived to find Mickey Mouse himself coming out onto Main Street. We were the 2nd guests to greet him. Sherman and Eliza were a bit nervous about seeing these first characters, but they eventually warmed up to many of them.

Sherman was very excited to see Goofy. Eliza was not so sure about him.

Here we are on the car ride. Sherman wanted to go with Grandma Gibbs every time. You can barely see him peeking over the dash of the car. I think this was ultimately his favorite ride.

Eliza rode with Aunt Kerilyn and I in the same car. It was a very windy and swervy drive with her in charge of the steering wheel.

We also met up with several characters in Toon Town. Eliza loves Minnie Mouse, but would not go near her.

Here is Sherman, waiting for his first ride on Goofy's Go-coaster in Toon Town. Last year he was just a tad too short and was very disappointed that he couldn't go. But, he was definitely tall enough this year and loved every minute of it. I took him on the first ride and Aunt Kerilyn went with him the second time.

Eliza visited Minnie Mouse's house while Sherman went on the Go-coaster. Here she is sitting in Minnie's chair.

You can see Kerilyn in this first picture, but Sherman was a bit too short.

If you look really close at this picture when it is enlarged you can see Sherman.

And here they are returning from an awesome ride on Goofy's Go-coaster!

Wow - that was fun!

Eliza's favorite ride was the Winnie the Pooh ride. We were also able to meet up with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore for pictures (The picture with Eeyore was too blurry to post). Eliza did a lot better with these characters and was quite excited to see them.

Waiting in line to see Tigger, they kept hugging each other - isn't that cute!?

Overall we had a great first couple of days in California. More of our trip to come in a later post....

Rounding out 2008 with a visit from Uncle Paul, Aunt Beth & Claire

This is finally the last post from 2008. I didn't want you all to miss these fun pictures and videos. We had a great visit with Uncle Paul, Aunt Beth and Claire just after Christmas. It was so much fun to see the kids interacting and having so much fun. Uncle Mark was a definite favorite of Claire's and Uncle Paul a definite favorite of Sherman and Eliza's. The first picture is of story time just before bedtime.

The kids are all loaded in the van to head to the Zoo in Omaha. I don't think Claire knows quite what to think yet.

We had a great time at the Zoo. Don't you just love Eliza and Claire's matching sweatsuits. They were an awesome deal the day after Thanksgiving and I just couldn't resist.

Here we are inside the aquarium. All the kids loved to see the sharks, stingrays, etc. swim right over their heads.

Eliza was especially interested in the aquariums.

Isn't he a cutie!

Mark was holding Eliza and Claire got a little jealous and had to be held too. It was nice for Uncle Mark to be a favorite!

Sherman is asleep in Claire's Stroller and Eliza couldn't resist a ride on the back!

Eliza - hanging out with Uncle Paul - isn't that cute!?

The next day we took the kids to the Children's Museum so Mark could get some work done. The kids had a great time playing in the soft blocks exhibit. Sherman's favorite was of course the train.

Cousins! :)

Uncle Paul wasn't quite as excited as the kids and probably deserved this little catnap after a long run with Uncle Mark that morning.

Under the arch that Aunt Beth helped them make!

That night while Paul & Beth went to the Temple, we had the privilege of watching Claire. She was such a doll. She insisted on taking a bath with Eliza. Aren't they cute!?

Claire - saying cheese for the camera.

Hanging out with Uncle Mark - her favorite!

Wearing Daddy's Glasses.

Hanging out with Uncle Paul. Sherman told Aunt Beth that Uncle Paul was really tough. I think this is proof!

Here is a cute little video of Claire and Eliza - Dancing! The girl's had a lazy afternoon at home while the boys went to the Air and Space Museum!

Finally, we had our New Year's Eve Celebration! Uncle Paul and Aunt Beth made these really cool hats and the kids had a great time banging on pots and pans.
This video shows how much fun the kids had. I also love how resistant Claire is to wearing the hat. Sorry that the photography is a little bouncy. I hope you don't get sick watching.
