Day at the Farm

Emily's preschool class had a field trip to Wheeler Historic Farm today. Jenna and Brenna joined in the festivities and got to see ducks, geese, pigs, horses, cows, sheep, roosters, etc. (pretty much all the typical farm animals). Emily was a little overwhelmed at the ducks and geese approaching her for food. Brenna was nearly nubbed to death by aggressive geese who wanted the sandwich she was carrying and did not care that she was trying to eat it. We have no pictures of that as Jenna had to rescue her.

Emily loves her preschool and her preschool friends. It doesn't hurt that the gender composition is much like home with 9 girls and 1 boy.

Brenna thought she made friends with a rooster, but I guess he had a different idea. Who knew the farm could be so dangerous.

Signing Time!!!

Tonight Jenna, Lindsay, and Emily went with the Cains and the Hawkers to see Signing Time live! For those of you who don't know, Signing Time is a TV show that teaches sign language to the pre-K to 1st grade range. It is Emily's favorite television show bar none, and we think she has a talent for sign language. For those of you locally, it is on UEN (channel 9) Monday's at 12:30. Emily loved the show and wants to go to Signing Time for her birthday in May. She loves to karaoke with her Signing Time CD and is happy to share all the signs with anyone who asks.

Robert Goes Under the Knife

With the hope of eliminating his frequent bouts of Strep Throat, Robert had his tonsils and adnoids removed today. Everything went well in the surgery and he now has two weeks of Lortab and Percocet and jell-o to look forward to. Papa and Grandma Miller sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers and his colleagues at work sent a nice fruit bouque that the girls enjoyed eating.

Party Time for Kayla

After two years of planning, Kayla's big day at the Lion House has finally come. Everyone had a really good time. Grandma Webber made the trip from California to participate, along with Robert, Jenna, Aubrey, and 7 of Kayla's friends. For those of you unaware, the Lion House is the historic home of Brigham Young in downtown Salt Lake City. They have preserved some of the rooms to appear as they originally were 150 years ago and it is a popular place today to hold wedding receptions, parties, and 8 - 11 year old girl birthday parties. It is so popular for birthday parties that Jenna had to reserve the date for Kayla's 8th birthday party back when she was six.
The girls enjoyed playing hide the thimble and button/button as well as making taffy and eating the little tuna fish sandwiches. The hit of the party was the cake with the hidden gumball. Much to everyone's dismay, none of the pieces served at the party had the coveted gumball (don't worry though, once we got home Kayla dug through all the frosting in the leftover cake and found it for her year of good luck). We feel so blessed for the wonderful friends that Kayla, and all of our girls have. They are all sweet girls who enrich our family.

On Sunday (Kayla's actual birthday), the Cain's and the Tomlinson's came over and we had cake and ice cream and Kayla opened her gifts. She loved all her gifts, especially her digital camera from Papa and Grandma Miller and has been busily taking pictures (we may need to get her a larger memory chip) and her baptism pillow.
Kayla is such a precious little girl and we feel so blessed to have her in our lives. It is hard to believe she is growing up so fast on us. Robert can not believe how much she is like Jenna, both in her sweet spirit and her glowing personality. How blessed we all are to have Kayla in our lives.

Embracing Technology

To try and keep all of you better connected to what is transpiring in our little piece of heaven, we are going to give this a little try. We will attempt to be as consistent as possible, at least making posts when new and exciting things are going on. We hope that this will help us feel closer to those of you who read it since so many of those who are dear to us are geographically far away.
