Our post wedding morning started early with balloons to blow up for the 'Girls Pref Dance' tonight. Each Stud Gov member is in charge of a certain number of posters, announcements, balloons, etc. Everything is counted, stamped and recorded for class grades.
Kay had to leave early for a Lax tourney, so the fam was on balloon duty.
From there we went to watch Kay and Lindsay play in the Gathering of the Tribes Tournament. Luckily, the tournament was in South Jordan, within 1 mile of Bingham High School, so it gave her a chance to try to fully participate in dance set-up and her games.
Kayla (#21) and Lindsay (#14) both played great and had the largest fan section ever, with all of our family members that were here for the wedding, coming to support them. They won their first game of the day (this was actually their 3rd game of the tourney, but Kayla & Linz missed the first 2 yesterday during the wedding) which meant they played again in one hour.
Kay raced off the field, literally, and jumped in the car in hopes of getting to Bingham in time before set-up started. Knowing she would have to leave again to play in the next game, Brenna and I stayed to help get all the balloons into the gym for the balloon arch and Kay ran around getting stuff ready. When they clock hit 10:55, we ran for the car, raced back to the field, and she jumped from the car with her stick in hand to start the next game.
This next game was against Brighton, who have been tough to beat as of late. The game came down to a 5-5 tie with time running out, and Kayla scored the wining goal to take Bingham up 6-5.
A few quick celebration hugs before running off the field to the car to head back to the school for more set-up.
With the win over Brighton, the team moved onto the championship game. Luckily, Kay had a little more time before that game, to finish stuff up at the high school and get some food and drink in her before taking the field again.
The last game was against a very good team from Idaho and they won by a few goals. From here it was running off to the car for Kayla to quickly shower and pick up her date for the dance, who had spent his afternoon watching her play instead of doing a day date. This is one of those days that being a Lacrosse player & Team Captain & Student Government leader & student & someone's date, can be A LOT to fit into one day, but somehow this girl does it and says she LOVES every minute of it! Congrats to Varsity on a great tourney and a big THANK YOU to all of our family and friends that came out to watch the girls play today!
