Ft. Myers Beach

December 2012

We had a week with our timeshare that we needed to use and Cam always likes to head somewhere warm come winter, so we hopped a plane to Ft. Myers, Florida. We didn't get into one of our usual fancy Marriott properties but did end up in a nice enough 2 bedroom right on the beach with a private pool. We were right on Estero Beach and we went to Sanibel Island, Bonita Springs, Naples and Marco Island. The ocean in Florida in December is too cold for me. The Canadians think it's great.
One of my favorite things to do is to drive by or walk around the fabulous mansions on millionaire row on the beach there in Naples. I really don't want to own one, just take a tour!!

We invited one of Carter's friends, Winston to tag along. We're glad he did. He got us upgraded to first class when our flight was delayed!!! The first thing the boys did when we got there was to go to the singles ward where they met some cute girls who work/live there. Needless to say, they spent the rest of the week going places and having fun with the Florida girls. Sorry to say, we weren't included in their activities so I don't have any pictures of the girls. They were awfully good to our two boys....drove them around, cooked for them, arranged for outings, etc.
The weather was a bit chilly but then warmed up.....warmer than SLC.  We enjoyed the Floridian Christmas festivities and decorations. We went shelling and found lots of pretty shells but Winston got the prize for the biggest one.

Her Christmas hat is made out of real glass ornaments!!!

Santa's sleigh is being pulled by dolphins

                              a poinsettia Christmas palm!!!

We also drove down to the Everglades where we took an airboat ride out into the everglades. Saw a few gators and wondered how people keep from getting lost out here.

The boys also got us an invitation to go out on the boat of one of the members of the bishopric. He was very nice to drive us around and show us the views from the water. It was a good week. Too short but we had a relaxing time, ate lots of fresh shrimp and enjoyed the warmer weather. Glad to have Carter and Winston go with us old folks. They kept us entertained!!!

Happy Birthday Ness

30 years ago I was granted my wish. I finally was able to have a child. I had waited, cried and prayed for a baby for 6 long years. Finally my prayers were answered. My beautiful baby girl was in my arms at last.

You were precocious, demanding, delightful and all girl. I was smitten. My heart was full, my life  was complete, or so I thought.

The years have been kind to you. You grew up and went from darling girl to beautiful woman.

You were always so very capable. You are smart, talented, beautiful, and hardworking. You love to water ski, travel, study, date, learn, compete and dress up.

You were my best friend and we loved to do everything together.
But then, as all fairy tales go, along came your prince charming and he won your heart.

You even got to ride off into the sunset in a black limousine.

You loved to learn and you graduated many times and got many degrees.

You got your name in lights and your own office.

Then you got the best gift ever......of having your own baby.
You are now a mother and you made me a grandmother.

The circle of life.......my baby has a baby.

Happiest of birthdays to my baby girl. I love you so much. Here's to the next 30.
