New Christmas Traditions

We've tried a few new things this year and we've been having lots of fun! We had some friends over to act out the nativity. We dressed up the kids in whatever we could find and read Luke 2 as they listened for their part and gathered around the "baby Jesus". It turned out really cute and very fun. Max was a shepherd complete with jedi robe and golf club staff! How do you like our other shepherd with his light saber (Charlie) and the rifle wielding wise man (Jake)?
We also went christmas caroling with a couple other families in our ward and that was really fun too. Even though we're not that big on singing, we wanted to try it and we had a great time!
The other fun thing we've been doing (and hope that it becomes a holiday tradition) is having lots of visitors! Grandma and Grandpa Mano came last week, Taryn and her friends came for the BYU game and Grandma and Grandpa Woolf just got here to spend Christmas with us! The kids are in heaven!

The Santa Train

We took the kids on the Santa Train in Boulder City. It was a short ride, but Santa and Mrs. Claus came through and talked to everyone. It was fun. Max enjoyed talking with Santa (although he's getting a little concerned that there are so many different Santas) and the girls still would rather not get too close!

Holiday Fun!

Since this is our first Christmas to be spent in our own home EVER (well, since we were married 8 years ago), we have been trying to take advantage of all the holiday activities we can and also start some of our own traditions.
We went to Town Square twice, once to see Santa and once with Grandma and Grandpa Mano to see the "Snow" (which was actually more like bubbles).

We had a playgroup at the Bass Pro Shops where the kids always have fun and they have a whole section set up as Santa's Wonderland.

This picture was taken right after we set up our tree and long before the broken leg.

Broken Leg...

Well, we have our first broken bone! I'm not that surprised that it was one of the girls, because they really NEVER sit still! Ellie broke her leg on monday morning. We were at Joann's (just another excuse for Neil to refuse to go there!) and of course the girls weren't IN the cart. I was looking at fabric, Payton was on one side of me and Ellie was on the other. Apparently she stepped up onto the side of the cart and then when I heard the crash and looked down, she was burried underneath it up to her chin. Here is the picture of her temporary cast, we'll go to get her real cast put on tomorrow. And as you can see, she is much happier now than when it first happened. She was such a sad little girl! She has small cracks in both her bones, just above the ankle. Yes, they always say that those carts are dangerous...now we know!

Happy Birthday Payton and Ellie!

The girls turned two on the day before Thanksgiving. We were in Utah, so were treated to a Mano Family birthday party and lots of fun with cousins!

We Love Halloween in Vegas!

Halloween is so fun here because not only is the weather great, but it's a two week long event where you get to dress up and get candy at least 4 times!
Here's what we did this year....

I went to Max's school to help host a Halloween party for his class.

Patrice came to visit and we took her to feed the enormous, gross fish at Lake Mead.
The kids love it every time!
Neil and Ellie
Payton and Patrice
We went to the Pumpkin Patch twice!
Our ward's Trunk or Treat was earlier in the week.
Max and I went to a Halloween party at the Clark Co Museum
Yoda Max fighting the Emperor
Gypsy Ellie (unfortunately I forgot to put on her beauty mole!)
Flapper Payton (who several people commented on what a cute little Indian she was!)
On Halloween day/night we went trick or treating at the Mall which was so crowded, after that we tried a second location but it was even more crowded so we skipped it. We did a few streets of houses and the kids got lots of candy! Ellie tired out about the same time I did, but Payton was so funny...she'd walk right up to people about an inch from them to get candy and then stand there even after they put the candy in her bucket. Then she'd march right to the next house. She was in heaven! Then we came home to hand out our least favorite candy to trick or treaters (which is almost as fun as trick or treating itself). Of course we've all been eating candy non-stop for the last week! We love visitors,
so if you want to come experience a Nevada Halloween...there's always next year!

SPOKANE!

We had so much fun visiting Spokane again (at the beginning of October). We went to the park, took a ride on the boat, made spooky gingerbread houses with Lisa, played the Wii a lot!, read books with grandma and grandpa, and got spoiled spoiled spoiled by everyone!

September Recap!

So I didn't really post in September because well, we were BUSY! We had a pretty fun month though and did lots of things. Here's the recap (not in any particular order)...

Neil went with his BFF, Craig, to an LA Dodgers game mainly because Neil found these $25 all you can eat tickets. Yes, that's the seat and all you can eat hot dogs, nachos, peanuts, popcorn, soda, and water for $25. They did take Max and Craig's two kids and surprisingly no one threw up! Neil did a very bad job of taking pictures, this is the only one with someone we know in it...that's Craig's face on the very left. Now at least our family can know what Neil's bromance looks like.

We took a little trip to Lake Mead and the beach with some friends. Max loved it!

But the girls not so much!

We also had a little playgroup at our house.

See the next post for more!

September Recap cont.

Here's more of what we did in September...
If you need a reason to visit Vegas in the summer it's the Big Horn Sheep that roam around a park here! I took this picture from the car window about 10 feet away. The kids love to stop and watch. We usually don't get out of the car!

We took a tour of the Anderson Dairy. We liked the free ice cream best!

Max and his awesome balloon from TJ's birthday party.

Grandma and Grandpa Woolf came to visit at the beginning of the month and we had lots of fun as always!

This picture is up on Mt. Charleston.

Max!

So the girls aren’t the only trouble makers lately...yesterday we went to Kids Club at the Mall. They have a little clown show twice a month. On the way there, Max saw a bus. A few weeks ago, Neil had been telling Max that all the cool kids sit at the back of the bus. So when Max saw the bus he started talking about how it’s more fun to sit at the back of the bus. I told Max, “you can’t always listen to Daddy, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” Well, the clown show’s theme was “questions” and they were asking the kids questions and telling them trivia and stuff. Then the clown asked if anyone knew anything interesting that they wanted to tell. A few kids said something and Max was raising his hand as high as he

could, which I was surprised about because he doesn’t usually talk in front of

groups. The clown came to him with the microphone and Max says...”um, um...my dad doesn’t know what he’s talking about”. It was so funny and also embarrassing.

Another Max story...today we were driving

and somehow started talking about death and heaven. I hadn’t said anything about forgiving, but Max said, “when I get to heaven I will forgive the bad guys.” I asked him what bad guys he was talking about and he said “the bad guys that put Joseph in the pit”. Upon further discussion, he was able to tell me pretty much the whole story of Joseph, his coat of many colors, his brothers throwing him in the

pit and Joseph forgiving them. Apparently Max will forgive them when he's in

heaven. He's got good primary teachers!

Thanks for the comments!

Hey everyone! Who knew that two little trouble makers would elicit all the comments?! I'll have to post about their shenanigans more often! It's fun to hear from all of you!

Here's what they did today....they have discovered that it's fun to put milk/juice/water in their mouths and hold it there for a few minutes. Then when you get tired of it being in there, you just spit it out onto your shirt, the floor, your sister, your carseat, the wall, the table, whatever. I went into the living room this evening to find puddles of milk on the coffee table and I'm pretty sure they'd been there for a while! Sorry no picture.

Cheetos!

The girls love to play in the pantry. Usually they just move the cans around...but not this day!
They have been increasingly mischievous lately and I just can't seem to get ahead of or even keep up with them! A few weeks ago I walked into their room after their nap and they were both COMPLETELY naked! It was the only time they were able to get their shirts off too (since they were wearing tank tops), but since then they have enjoyed removing their pants and diapers a few more times. Unfortunately today there was poop in Payton's diaper. Not fun! They have also begun to write and color on the walls, turn on the water in the bathtub, open the round door knobs to the outside of the house and Ellie even climbs up to undo the dead bolt.

We have no Princesses here!

The kids love to dress up and play/fight...even the girls.
Here is Ninja/Superman/Jedi Max
complete with a slobber spot.
Optimus Ellie
Nacho Payton...Chancho, I need to borrow some sweats!
What do you think?  They look like fearsome fighters to me!
