Sorry for the huge break in blogging, life is busy folks! So I'll try to catch you up on some developmental things both the kids are doing. They're both growing up so fast!
Walker is 11 months now and we're gearing up for his 1st birthday. I can't believe it. I am so sad. I know I shouldn't be b/c with this milestone comes lots of great things but my baby isn't going to be a baby much longer! Ugh! Bill really dislikes the baby stage but I LOVE it. Okay, I could do without the sleepless nights and the marathon nursing sessions in the beginning, but overall, I love having babies!
He now has 8 teeth, 4 on top, 4 on bottom, which he likes to use frequently to bite my shoulder and arm. Ouch! He's eating all kinds of foods but blueberries are a favorite. They were for Ridley at this age as well. He also likes Mac N' Cheese, turkey, waffles, bananas, corn and drinks water pretty well from a straw sippy cup.
Yesterday (7/12/11) he said "Mama!" I'm not sure he really makes the connection although he should b/c pretty much daily I practice saying it with him. He really wanted down from his highchair and he screamed "Maaa-Maaa!" If I remember correctly, this how Ridley started using my name as well. As part of a wailing cry for help. Why is it that he said "Da-Da" months ago and in a happy jolly way when Bill came in the room. However, "Mama" is used only when he's in a desperate panic for help? Such is a mother's life, and I wouldn't change it for the world!
He's clapping now and looks so happy and jovial when doing so. It's usually when we're playing "Pat-a-cake" or when someone else starts clapping first.
He is getting close to walking, every day he seems to make a little more progress. He walks behind a little play shopping cart or makes his way around by either crawling or cruising but often lets go to stand for a second or two.
His favorite playthings right now are probably big sister and Dixie. He also loves this cookie jar toy and will play with it for a long time. Following in his sister's footsteps, he seems to love any type of musical instrument. Drums, xylophone, shakers or making his own instruments out of household objects are his favorites.
Now for Ridley. She is hilarious to us lately. The things she thinks up to say are just too funny. I can always tell when Bill has been telling her things b/c something totally off the wall comes out of her mouth in the next day or two. Last night she asked me if kids cost a lot of money. Hmmm, who does that sound like? Today at Strollerstrides, as class was wrapping up she handed me a leaf and said, "Here mom, this is for you because you're such a good mommy worker-outer." Be still my heart!
It's funny how little things impress kids so much at this age. The other week at the pool the lifeguards were doing some sort of drill and put a child-sized dummy in the pool. Well, sadly, it sat there for a while before the lifeguard on duty noticed it and of course it was right next to us so Ridley saw it. I can't tell you the number of questions that ensued after that and it went on for days! She's still talking about it!
She takes stuff from one day and puts it in context another day. For instance, I took her to the eye doctor to have her eyes checked just because my doctor said he'd do it for free until she turned 4. Her eyes were fine by the way but this caused all sorts of thoughts to go around in her pretty little head. The next day we were at Costco and I walked through the optical department to check the price of the contacts I'm switching to. She immediately asked me if the guy behind the counter was the "eye-checker-outer" and if was going to check her eyes. Conversations like this go on all day long. I thank God every day I'm here and home with her to enjoy them!
Sorry for the super-long post, I felt like I need to get some things down in print so I can look back and remember them later. Here are a couple of picture of what we've been up to lately.

Troublemaker. Unfortunately, this is a common scene in our house and has only gotten worse! How can I be mad at that face though?
