Camping and Dad's Day

Last weekend we finally got our 1st weekend of camping and no rain. We actually were hot and had to go swimming to stay cool! I never thought I would be so excited. Fri night we drove to Inks lake (just west of Austin) and poor Kevin sweated to death setting up camp while Klayton and I played. We have decided that it is much easier for one of us to remain with almost full attention on Klayton and one of us setting up camp. In the long run we are all happier that way!

Tammy and James joined us on Friday night and the Mom joined us on Saturday. We really enjoyed playing games and some adult interaction in the evenings and I think overall Tammy and James enjoyed the weekend although we may have made them wait on having children as Klayton was a little over zealous.

We also did some swimming in the lake during the day which meant a life jacket and not being able to touch for Klayton. He was a little apprehensive but he survived and as usual he thoroughly enjoyed the boat and likes to watch Mommy and Daddy "ski" (as he points out the back of the boat) and ride in Grandma's lap.

This weekend was of course Father's Day and Kevin had to work so we made the most of it and took some time to play at the playground near the golf course. Klayton is quite brave now and will go down the twisty turny slide all by himself.

And of course he loves the car that he can sit on and he discovered the swings which had me laughing just as much as he was. He got quite excited.

Then we went back to the golf course and joined a few of the members in the annual fish n golf. The kids play golf and then come back to fish in the pond using cane poles. Klayton enjoyed putting the pole in the water but the waiting for the fish was not his strong point
But he loves to drive the golf course and I love seeing my two guys together! Kevin is so wonderful with Klayton and as you can see Klayton wants to be just like his daddy and it just melts my heart. I love them both so much!!!

Wedding and Camping

I promised a few pictures of the wedding so I thought I would follow through. As I mentioned the wedding turned out beautiful and it was great to see Tammy and James so happy. Tammy made a beutiful bride and we all shared a tear or two at some part of the weekend. Weddings are just so wonderful (I know that guys don't always agree but nothing makes you appreciate your own marriage more than seeing two newlyweds). Kevin and I also had a great time as we didn't have to worry about driving too far, there were plenty of people helping with Klayton, and we got to dance. Something that we never (or at least I) never get enough of.
OK so I'll start with the ones of Klayton running around like a hoodlum getting into all kinds of trouble and not acting one bit shy! He also enjoined stealing the cheese from the snack table when no one was watching.

My nephew Austin had to get in on some of the action as well. Isn't he cute!

Here is the happy couple dancing!

And Klayton got to go in his 1st grand march but he was little heavy so it didn't last very long

Aunt Mel always brings out the clown in Klayton

After that he was pretty much down for the count and Grandpa and Grandma Jeanette took him home to sleep in his own bed. What fun!

Then last weekend was a camping trip to Lake Brownwood. Of course there was rain in the forecast again and of course I forgot my camera again but we made the most of the weekend. Friday night it was misting while we put the tent up but we have gotten much better at it and did the whole thing in like 15 minutes of so. I was quite proud of us. Saturday afternoon Kevin and I decided to test the new water skiis. I was really pushing but he obliged after a little. Since at the point in the trip we were still by ourselved that meant I had to pull Kevin on water skiing by myself. Yikes! I survived and so did he but I think I scared him and poor Klayton didn't know what to think. After about 2 minutes of skiing for each of us we were tired and ready to head back to camp (we are getting old)

Later that afternoon Jonathan, Julie and Grace joined us. It was late in the afternoon so after a little playing...

It was time for smores. The dads had fun but I don't think the kids weren't very interested. They would just assume it plain marshamallows and graham crackers but oh well!On Sunday we had time for a short swim in the lake and I believe both kids had fun.

Then in the afternoon Richard, Shelley, and Will joined us just in time for a big rain shower. It started thundering and we tried to put up a few tarps but the rain didn't stop much. I think the kids had just as much fun playing in the mud puddle after the rain as they did playing the lake.We had a good time visiting with everyone and it is great to have Richard and Shelley back in Texas. Thanks Julie for sharing your pictures with me.

Next weekend another camping adventure!
