2 Busy weekends

Where did October go. Oh wait I think it went so fast because we were on the road like every weekend and sometimes to two different places in one weekend. Oh well! We love the visitswith family and we always learn a few things about Klayton.

Last weekend we had a Henke shower for Scott and LeAnne. The shower was great but I did miss having my sisters around. I know there are lots of cousins but there is something extremely special about sisters and I missed having them there with me. Early Sun. morning we drove to Conroe to witness little Tyler's baptism and Klayton made it through his 1st church service from start to finish. Yes, he goes to church just about every Sun but this time we didn't have to take him out because he was "disturbing" those around him and we were really excited. After church we discovered that Klayton likes trees. Daddy put him in one and he was all smiles.

We also had our 1st Halloween outing this week. Wed night at Kevin's golf course they had a kids night with a Halloween theme so we all dressed up. Klayton as usual was a little apprehensive at first but ended up warming up pretty good. His favorite things were the "cupcake" walk and another man who brought live spiders including tarantulas (not my favority part). We went as a mariachi band. Klayton's mustache didn't last too long but it was fun.

Then this weekend we went to my 10 year class reunion. I felt old talking about going but had a great visit with my high school classmates. Then on Sat. Dad put Kevin to work on a new roof so Klayton and I and Grandma has some fun around the yard. Klayton is getting really good at feeding the chickens but his favorite part is still digging in the rocks

Last week we had a few rough nights where I thought Klayton wasn't listening to anything we said, but this weekend, he was almost an angel (at least in my mind) and I couldn't stop smiling. So goodbye to October and here comes November and a whole new month of adventures

Tailgating in Aggieland

A&M vs. OK state - a win and that's what counts right? We have been tailgating with Kevin's college buddies at least once a year since we started dating and it seems like every big tailgate is followed by an upsetting loss (for instance last year we lost to Tech with one second left on a 50 yard touchdown catch, heartbreaking) but this year was better. This year was also fun because Klayton got to make his 1st trip to College Station. There are now several kids at the tailgate and it is always fun for them to play together and since we don't get to see these college buddies very often, there is always great conversation. Needless to say with kids running everywhere there wasn't a whole lot of sitting around telling life stories and talking about how the aggies were going to win but it still was good convo and great catching up. Klayton has now decided he knows how to take pictures so he likes to put his finger right on the lens so needless to say these pictures are a little blurry but here they are anyway.

he is concentrating so hard on keeping his balance. I know it is sitting on the ground but it was a great game for ~30 minutes so oh well!As you can also tell Klayton is not smiling for the camera near as well. This weekend I am supposed to take him to get his 2 year old pictures so we will see how that goes!

Klayton Turns 2

Yes, he is now officially a 2 year old. I can't believe it. Or at least I can't believe it until I spend an hour or so with him and he quickly reminds me that he is a vibrant two year old boy with tons of energy, even more smiles, an ever growing imagination, a few moments of hard "headedness", and yes a few tantrums. I couldn't ask for anything more. So we decided to have a couple of small celebrations for Klayton's birthday as he is easily overwhelmed by people and surprises. What can I say he is a structured little boy. So on Wed (his actual birthday) we ventured out to Chuckie Cheese's, every kids dream (or nightmare depending on who you ask). We had only been one time before about a year ago and everything went pretty well so we planned a trip for his birthday and Grandma, Aunt Marla, Jennifer, Brandon, and Anneliese joined us for the fun. It started a little rough as I wasn't feeling well and Klayton had a runny nose and a cough as well. He was shy as usual at 1st and got really upset when Grandma walked away from the table, but went Chucky Cheese came out to say hi... Well let's just say it wasn't Klayton's favorite part of the day. Luckily after some cake and presents he was much more enthusiastic about all of it and we ended up having a great time. Here are a few highlights!

blowing out candles
eating cake

opening presents

a little playing

and back to the rides

Anneliese and Brandon got in on the action as well

Then on Saturday we had another small family party. Richard, Carrie, and Austin got into town on Friday so the boys got to celebrate their birthdays together. what fun! As they kiddos are only 2 we kept things pretty simple but did do a few activities outside. Jonathan and Julie and their 2 kids and Danna and Mark and their 2 kids and Grandma and Grandpa joined us.

The play-doh was a big hit.

And of course you can't have a birthday without cake and candles. Klayton has mastered blowing out the candles and he thought he needed to help Austin.

Austin was really funny to watch while eating the cake

Klayton was a little more concened about the icing but the next night when we ate another cake and Klayton started laughing at Austin for having icing on his face, we all got a big laugh. Kids!!!

Here everyone is joining in the fun as we open presents. Ava was very patient as the boys opened presents.

The boys also enjoyed some time with Grandpa and Grandma

And then Austin told us he had more "work to do" and the boys went back to playing.

It really was a great visit with the Ellis's. The kiddos are getting so big and are playing together more and more. We have so much to look forward to and we are so thankful for the time we get to spend together. Here's to another year of Klayton surprises!!
