Mission Firefighting
Home made costumes and a little coaxing. Konnor started this year's theme. He decided to be a firefighter first. Klayton stumbled around a little with EMS or something but converted quickly to firefighter. Kenzie started with mummy and I decided I wasn't ready for scary halloween yet so we used the lovely pinterest to come up with a few ideas. It was narrowed down to butterfly or dalmation and as the picture shows she decided to go with the family. I really enjoy making their halloween costumes although I know my days are numbered.
Memphis
My husband turned 40. That makes me a little old too but we had to do something forhis birthday and he knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted to go to an out of town Aggie Football game. So we ended up in Memphis, TN because that was close to Oxford, MS and ATM vs Ole Miss was the game of choice. I found a house near Beale St (the hopping street) and invited the gang and the Aggies only had one loss heading into the weekend. All was shaping up.
So we spend Thursday and Friday exploring the city.
Then came game day and one picture just about sums it up.
My first away game and the trip was all worth it despite the horrible game.

It was awful!! But Carrie and Richard and Shelley and Richard were there to endure it with us.

Double Digits
He is 10 years old. Double digits!!! He still idolizes his dad and would be happy to follow in his exact footsteps but this year he got to go bay fishing and bird hunting so now Daddy is even cooler. He also still loves Aggie Football and was able to go to one of those games too. Pretty good life for a 10 year old. We had a small party/sleepover with 4 stinky boys (or at least they were after running around outside). Ten years old means fourth grade and that was a little wake up call but he has since adjusted - after some careful encouraging (prodding) by his parents.

Kenzie turns 7
A first grader!!! More mature. More friends. More girly stiff. More fun (and a few more arguments). Kenzie still loves school and loves being with her friends and her circle of friends just keeps growing. She has gotten closer to her cousins and especially loves spending times with them during sporting events. She is even more into the cheerleaders and is learning more and more cheers. Look out junior high (if I can stay out of it for that long). She is taking some interest in cooking and she has almost mastered the grilled cheese sandwich.
This year was another quiet year for birthdays. Only one friend spend the night and then a nice dinner with Grandpa and both Grandma's.
Just for memory sake I'll list a few of her favorites.
favorite food - pizza
favorite toy - "American girl" doll
favorite argument - clothes
favorite clothes - blue jean shorts or workout clothes
favorite card game - pig
favorite TV show - Jesse
favorite present - Layla (rockstar doll)
Kenzie,
I truly believe I love you so much it hurts. I love watching your enthusiasm and I love watching you play with friends. I am already appreciating your opion and know that we will rely on each other so much and you grown into pre-teen. Yes we have our differences of opinion but that's what growing up is about. Can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us.

Sacred Heart
August was admittedly all about SHS. Kevin ran the project that was made possible by Carrie and Richard and although it involved countless hours, the result was all worth it. And besides that I got to see my sisters this summer for some good quality labor hours.
And thanks to Aunt Annette and Nan we found a few things to keep the kids busy while the adults worked.
And that brings summer to a close with cheer camp and back to school. By the time it was here all the kids were excited about going to school even though I wasn't quite ready to return to the busy routine. what a fun summer!!

travelling with friends
The first part of June and July involved lots of travelling and lots of time with friends and family. First we made a girl trip to Levelland. It was a hoot to have so many of the cousins and Aunts together and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the "Ellis Resort." Everyone chipped in and dishes and cooking were a breeze. totally relaxed and just celebrating time together. We made quite the scene when all of us showed up to mass together.
The next trip was to Lake Dunlap with college friends and their families. This trip was long overdue. Some of these girls I haven't hung out with in almost 10 years. Much less their kids. And frankly I was a little nervous about everybody getting along but it went smooth. The weather was a little rainy and the river was a little flooded but we didn't let it stop us. Klayton learned a new frisbee game and Kenzie had tons of friends with all the little girls.
And then it was a girl trip. I had never been to the Texas wineries and I had wonderful hosts. All of the girls had been more than once so they new exactly where to go. The flooding prevented us from floating the river but we did a painting class, a little shopping, and a little tasting.
But we can't travel too much. We have to stay around for all the local sports events. Kenzie really loved cheer camps this year and we also enjoyed our trip to the softball state game. Next year hopefully SHS will be at the state game too.
