N 2 FIRST

There are so many firsts in life. So many, that you could drive yourself crazy thinking of them.
Your first date, your first speeding ticket, the first death you experienced, the first time you really knew that your eyes were going bad, the first time you've seen the bottom of the closet in years. I mention that because I've been cleaning and in that experience, I've decided to participate in my first consignment sale. JBF "Just Between Friends" Glitter and Gown sale. No one explained to me that the first would include so much work. Most firsts were instantaneous, delightful and appeared as angels singing "you're first" whatever in melodic heavenly voices. This first was an effort of getting my things strung properly on the hanger with those long hangy down loops that always seem to hang out my sleeves at the most inappropriate times. Then I have to find (as the instructions say) cleaner bags to place over each garment. Have you ever looked for a cleaning bag that isn't torn? Then a tag made specifically identical to the template with what I"m sure (as an expert marketer) is creative writing and selling skills involved in marketing the item. Example: Beautiful beaded red evening gown, crossing with a delicate weave in the back, flowing skirt, and the kicker sales phrase "worn once" that I'm sure will make the girls buy! Oh, yes, don't forget "One owner" also. Maybe reconsidering I should have written, worn once by the famous Pre-teen Oklahoma Kim Rampey as she competed with great grace and dignity in the local Miss Broken Arrow Pageant. (Ask Kim sometime what it means to be a teenager in today's world?) Then to haul them all out to the car , making sure they don't rake a spill of oil in the driveway, only to notice when you arrive at the destination that all the loops have come off the hangers. There were quite a few instructions I gave up on (as I'm admittedly not a detail person) and begged for mercy with my friend who runs the program to help me out with. With great effort and help, all gowns are awaiting their future homes.

Speaking of firsts, we were with Easton when he saw his first snow, with Adalie whenever she had her picture made in her first snow. We were present at the blessed first born's birth of our grandchildren and we are still on our first marriage.
I had a first this week, as my husband had a monkey visit me on Valentines day. I said I wanted to Monkey around, and he brought me a monkey! His name was Sawbo and he was so sweet and I think I can say it was my first time to have a real monkey on my back!
I am proud of myself for getting rid of some 25 or so prom, pageant, cruise-wear, glittery purses, satin red shoes, metallic blue pumps, and dresses I swore I'd fit into some day.
I hope the pain of the first consignment gets easier with each participation. If I make it past the first! Who knows, I may be N 2 firsts!!
