November and The Happiest Place on Earth

These pictures are crazy out of order, but that's ok. November just kind of came and went. Which is too bad because despite the cold weather, I like the month of November. It's when people start being a little more kinder, loving, and giving. It's too bad this holiday induced behavior isn't practiced everyday. But regardless, I enjoy it. I really wanted to teach my children the importance of being GRATEFUL in a fun way, but I think I failed. We did manage to teach them about the pilgrims. I'm not sure it processed. And after about the 10th random question, I couldn't come up with creative answers to their questions. So Anabell, "I don't know if cats poisoned their crops by pooping in their garden." and Ethan, "Yes, the Indians probably killed the Turkey with their bows and arrows. Yes, it would've been cool if they killed a bear and ate that instead." Here's our Thankful Turkey. Another attempt at teaching the kids about Gratitude. I asked my children what they were thankful for and we'd write it on a feather and glue it on. At first I was a little sad as I watched them hum and ho and take minutes to come up with something. I felt like I had failed as a parent. Everyday in our prayers we Thank our Heavenly Father for all the wonderful things he has blessed us with. So to see my children stumbling to think of 1 thing made me think I went wrong somewhere. I often forget that my children are just that, children. We have to show them by example and teach them over and over in hopes that when they grown and out of the house, something stuck. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be a mom to three beautiful, healthy, happy children. And I'm grateful for my wonderful husband who works so hard to support our family so that I can stay home with these young children and be a constant part of their lives.
Now, this is a Turkey worth gobbling up!

I couldn't imagine life without these little turkeys.
Every year we celebrate Thanksgiving with the Briggs Family a week before the actual holiday. We also take a family vacation each year as well. This year we combined the two and went to California. It went by really quickly. Ethan and his dad drove down 4 days early and went to Magic Mountain. Ethan had fun. And even though he is only 5, he was tall enough to go on a lot of rides. I'm sure he was scared out of his whits, but had to act tough in front of his older cousins. He ended up going on some big roller coasters! Probably should've gone AFTER Disneyland because he kept saying how the rides there were for babies. (I think it was all talk :)
So yes, we spent 3 days in Disneyland. The weather was so nice and warm. John and I left Austin with our friends the Arvidsons. I missed Austin terribly. Especially since it was a family vacation. But it ended up being a good decision. I'm pretty sure we would've came home one less child had he came with us. Anyway, the weather was in the mid 70's and we were able to go on pretty much everything there. We stayed in some really nice condo's that was within walking distance of the park.
We spent three days in Disneyland, then went to the beach in LA another day, and then down to Oceanside for another 3 days where we went to Lego Land and then chilled and hung out with our cousins. It was rainy and yucky weather in Oceanside. We left for home Sunday morning and got stuck in a bad snow storm in which they closed I-15. It was sad coming home to snow and cold weather. Blah!
Dog pile Aunt Jill!

Big man in a little plane...John & Kaden

Weeeeee......Anabell with Uncle Dave & cousins

Ethan with Daddy and cousins.

Anabell wanted a picture by every lego statue.

Seal Beach. The boys feeding the seagulls.
Kids are so carefree. The adults were wearing sweaters and jackets while the kids sported the beach in their suits. They even played in the freezing cold water! If only I were a kid again.
Ok. This was one of my favorite parts of Disneyland. Ethan and Kaden got picked to participate in this cool Jedi Training. After their training was complete they got to fight against Darth Vator and defeat him. It was so cool. The boys I think were nervous, but wanted to be strong. It was so fun to watch them!
Training
Rather than stand in line for countless hours in HOPES of maybe seeing Cinderella and the other favorite princesses, John and I took the kids to a character breakfast. Anabell was able to take a picture and talk with Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Bella, Princess and the Frog, and her favorite CINDERELLA. When she first saw Sleeping Beauty's Castle she kept telling John and I that she was going to go inside and her fairy godmother was going to turn her into a princess. Ha
John loves our kids, neices and nephews!
Here we are -the Happiest Place on Earth :)
Getting ready to go on Splash Mountain. Ethan's so excited.
Thank you John and Carol for planning this fun vacation for everyone-we had so much fun!

What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas

In October, I went on a girls trip to to Vegas. We visited our friend Triscia and stayed with her Wednesday night. On Thursday we went hiking and it poured on us. We were soaked to the bone! We spent the day relaxing and grocery shopping. We also happened to come upon this lovely fella. Who walks their baby around the block with no shirt on??? We seriously followed him around trying to get a good picture without being caught. It must've been a sight to see; A bunch of married women from Utah in a minivan trying to get a picture of Mr. Elvis here. Ha Ha
Thursday night we checked into our condo at Summerbay. It was a nice condo with a kitchen. We had a bbq on the grill, hung out in the hot tub and played games. Friday morning Kandy, Tomi and I went to the Las Vegas Temple and did sealings there. It is a beautiful temple! That night we went out to eat at the Harley Davidson and walked the strip a bit. I know this sounds bad, but I can't quite remember what we did on Friday.....or do I??? hee hee

Saturday we seriously went shopping ALL day. We found some GREAT deals on a lot of stuff. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was the most shopping I have ever done in my life. And probably the last. As a lot of you know, I hate shopping. But I still had fun with the girls. That night we went to a show called "The Divas" and then went dancing at this fun club which I don't remember the name of. I haven't been to a club since before I was married, it was seriously a blast! Vegas really doesn't sleep, at least the strip anyway.Sunday is when we made the drive home. And of course I have other pictures. But those aren't for my blog. hee hee Bye Bye Vegas!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Well, one of my favorite holidays has came and left but it was a fun month. On Halloween morning we went to Macey's grocery store to find the witch and get a balloon, candy and rootbeer! Then we met up with John's family at the Aquarium. We hadn't been there for a while so it was fun for the kids. We went trick-or-treating around 5pm. Once their buckets were full we headed home to some home made doughnuts, soup and breadsticks! We did this last year with our friends and wanted to do it again. Our friends the Breinholts (Amanda & Kandy), Kennedys, Arvidsons and Ashly & Cannon Hucheon were able to come. Ethan passed the candy out to the kids while the other little ones played downstairs. Kandy and her mom made the doughnuts -which were AMAZING this year. No one could resist those deep fat fried, melt in your mouth, icing covered dough of goodness. And the rest of us made soup and breadsticks. We ate and played games until midnight. There's no other way to end the Holiday!
This year Anabell was a pirate princess. But then on the day of Halloween she decided she wanted to be Tigger...indecisive already. I was ok with that because it was cold and raining outside when we went trick-or-treating and the Tigger costume is nice, fluffy and warm.
Austin was Eeyore. And he made the PERFECT Eeyore too. His expressions were priceless. I just wish I had caught them on camera.
Ethan was a ninja. Every time I see a picture of him I am reminded of how fast times goes by. As much as these kids keep me busy, I wish I could freeze time and keep them small for just a little bit longer. As hard as I try to do as much with them as I humanly can, I still feel like the years are whizzing by and I can't keep up with time!
We weren't even out for an hour and look how much candy they got. Austin for sure got the most candy. To him, "Just one", applied for each of his hands. He just kept shoving candy in his bucket until it was physically pulled away from him. I divided the candy amongst all the buckets so they all had about the same. Not that they'd notice anyway. As soon as we get home, the candy is placed in my closet and they pretty much forget about it. So needless to say, Halloween candy lasts until Christmas. It's fabulous!
Ethan made this sign and hung it on the door. Isn't it awesome!? If you can't see it very well, it says "This House Gives Good Candy". Ha ha silly kid.
Friday night we went to a Halloween Party. It was a fundraiser for the Aquarium. It was a lot of fun. Our friends the Arvidsons, Breinholts and Kennedy's came with us. There was food, salsa lessons, dancing and competitions. I feel bad because John and I entered the Salsa Dance competition and I was too embarrassed to get on stage for people to vote. I'm kicking myself because we could've won a new snowboard and according to Aubrey, people were cheering us to get on stage. Sorry honey for being such a party pooper! My hubby rocked though! We ended up leaving the party a bit early and going bowling in our costumes. Super fun!
Here we are: the dashing, devinare vampire and the 20's flapper girl.
Ethan's class had a Halloween parade at the olds folks home across the street from his school. It was cute to watch.
These old folks were so excited to see all the children. I'm sure they look forward to this every year.

And this completes the month of October. Go me!!!! I know my posts are rushed, boring and lame. But at least I'm making some kind of effort to journal the happenings of our lives, right?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAGE!!!!

We don't get to see our cousins as often as we like so you can imagine how super excited we all were to have Gage with us for a couple of days over UEA weekend. His birthday was on Thursday the 14th so we had him over Wednesday for a movie night sleep over. He picked out a movie and all the kids stayed up late playing games and watching a movie with their bag of goodies.
The next morning we made Gage special birthday pancakes. He loves fruit and whip cream on them so we made funny faced pancakes. That afternoon we headed over to "This is the place Heritage Park" and went trick-or-treating, rode a pony, pet some animals and went on a train and hay ride. Afterwards we went to my parents house for dinner and cake and ice cream. Grandpa and Grandma Price came too. Afterwards, we drove down to Provo to ride down the Provo river on the Haunted River Raft, but the wait was almost 2 hours long so we ended up just driving back home. Ethan and Gage celebrated the rest of Gage's birthday with a rare treat of a sleep over at Grandma's.
We had so much fun with Gage!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
(I can't believe he is already 7 years old!)
*Oh, and if you are wondering what's up with the hair piece. They found my bin of wigs and put them on. They are too funny.

Halloween Activities

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. This year I wanted to do more crafts/activities with the kids. Which is ironic because I hate making crafts. I'm not creative and I lose interest in a project pretty quickly. I picked some easy crafts that the kids could do themselves and it was a lot of fun. I'd actually consider doing those cute home decor crafts if they were kid friendly. Each morning the kids were eager to find ou
t what we were going to do that day.

Activity#1:POM POM PUMPS!
Activity#2: Make, cut out, bake and decorate pumpkin, bat and ghost
sugar cookies.
Activity#3: Outdoor decorations; ghost balloons
Activity#4: Outdoor Activities; Pumpkin bags
Activity#5: Mr. Vampire Pumpkin Head & Painting faces

The three smaller pumpkins were from our garden!!!! I only planted small pie ones. Next year I'll try planting the bigger ones.
Other crafts/Activities: We played Halloween games during the week and then the other crafts we did were for Ethan's Halloween party which I posted below.

Party Planning 101

Someone asked me how much this party ended up costing. And I PROUDLY answered "$20 MAX!". Yep! That's right. That includes all the candy, food, treat bag -everything!!! The catch is, it took me a week to get everything ready because I made mostly everything.
So here's the breakdown: The kids only ate 1 pizza and 1 bag of breadsticks which I got from $5 Little Caesars. Here's the remains of the black widow pinate. Ethan helped me make it. It went from this...a balloon, newspaper, flour and water...

to this using black paint. Anabell is filling the body with candy...To this! A Black Widow Pinate! Originally it was going to be a bat, but this ended up being easier. It's amazing what you can make from random thing lying around the house. The next pictures are in random order so bare with me. For the kids' lunch I put a slice of banana, 1/2 a strawberry and chunk of apple on a spider stick.

John put up the decorations for me. We already had these decorations from previous years.

More pic's of the decorations. Notice the fun balls hanging? We made those too.

Here's the finished product.

Here's Ethan "fluffing out the ball"

We got some tissue paper, folded it accordian style, wrapped some string around it, fluffed it out and hung it by FLOSS.

I found these online, already made. All I had to do was print and laminate at Kinkos. We named it "GHOST" instead of Bingo. It was a hit!

I wrapped these white chocolate fingers in seran wrap and put it in the goody bag. I got the mold for 50 cents.

Of course, I couldn't have done all this without my handy dandy side kick. He was a HUGE help! Here we are making spider cupcakes for the goody bag as well. (I told them their dentist could thank me later). I already had stuff in my food storage for these little guys so they didn't cost much to make.

Making the spider legs for the pinate.

With some googly eyes, a marker, felt, left over Christmas cellophane and some toilet paper,
we made these ghost and vampire suckers to also put in the goody bag. Cute huh?

So, in the goody bag I had the suckers, monster fingers, spider cupcake and a pair of vampire fangs and a squishy rat that I picked up for 88 cents per package. Each package had 10.

Anyway...so for those who were wondering, that's how I put on a party for less than $20. I also found some FREE fun Halloween music online and had that playing in the background.
