Another My Scrapbook Nook DT Project Reveal - A "Lovely" Banner

I guess I'm slowly sharing my creations from my DT February My Scrapbook Nook Kit this week instead of releasing it all at the same time. Thank you for bearing with me. I've been working on taking better pictures, and then there's the business of applying watermarks now. I feel like a computer geek with all that I've been tweaking, I swear!! LOL, but all's good.

A quirk about me is that I collect drink coasters from all the restaurants I frequent, even if I'm travelling abroad. I alter them to make them into mini books, mini tags, etc. I even run them through my die cutter to cut out shapes with my Sizzix dies, etc. Here, I decided to choose unique coaster shapes and sizes to create an eclectic Love themed banner which is a very fitting tribute to this gorgeous Jenni Bowlin paper line, don't you think?

I just had to bring it to work today to hang in my cubicle to brighten up my day. I think I'm going to leave it here in the office for awhile, at least through February. :)

Here is a detailed shot so you can see the dimension this banner has.

And this is what the individual banners look like:

And here it is again...

I can't end this post without properly giving credit to the restaurants who contributed to this effort: Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Chili's and an Italian pub I was in during my last trip to Rome. :)

All materials seen on this banner came from the
February My Scrapbook Nook Kit with the exception of:
* Red Glitter Chipboard which came from Walmart
* Silver glitter Leaf - Michael's Christmas clearance (inspired by my talented friend Melissa Bove)
* Buttons - Autumn Leaves Bag of Buttons
* Bling - Heidi Swapp and Michaels
* Stamped frame with the "Love is in the Air" sentiment is a Prima stamp - My Scrapbook Nook Kit Add On Item

I have been an avid fan of Christine Penaflor for quite some time now, so my dictionary flowers cut out of the Jenni Bowlin dictionary paper with the Sizzix die was inspired by Christine. Speaking of Christine, check out this incredibly generous blog candy RAK I just won on her blog???

Christine is celebrating the 50K hit on her blog this week and thus was offering this blog candy to all her readers. Congratulations Christine and a big, big THANK YOU!! I looooove Making Memories and have been coveting this Sabrina line that popped up at Michaels recently. Yes, these goodies will be put to very very good use!

But I digress, so let me get back to the topic at hand, lol! If you love Jenni Bowlin as much as I do, then head on over to My Scrapbook Nook and get this February kit. There are just a FEW left now before its sold out!

Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge #16 & My Scrapbook Nook Feb Kit Card

Photobucket

Wednesday and every Wednesday, please join us over at the
Cuttlebug Challenge Blog for our Be Inspired Challenge Series. This week, our DT was asked to create a distressed card or layout. Yep, that's it! That's the challenge! :)

Here's the card I made for this challenge using the February My Scrapbook Nook Kit featuring all this Jenni Bowlin yumminess. This card is inspired by my new attitude in life due to chucking the 'ole "dark and twisty" girl I used to be. Valentine's Day is just 3 weeks away. I'm hopeful, else, I'll be just as perfectly happy to spend the day alone doing what I want to do! So either way, its going to be a happy holiday for me instead of a sappy Hallmark one.

And here is a detailed shot so you can see that I actually did use a Cuttlebug folder, LOL! since that is the POINT of the challenge blog. I used the Birds and Swirls folder to emboss the Kraft Cardstock before I laid down the rest of my elements.

I then distressed all the edges of my various layers of cardstock to satisfy the challenge. I notched the corners of my first two panels with my SU ticket corner punch so that I could adhere some manilla colored mini brads in these corners. I did foam pop dot these two panels onto my larger Cuttlebug dry embossed Kraft Cardstock peice.

I then handcut a small vine from one of the Jenni Bowlin papers and adhered it onto the right side of the card. I then placed the JB calendar and scalloped circle journaling spot in the lower left corner of the card.

For the bottom left corner, I pulled out my trusty Sizzix Flowers #3 Die to cut some flowers out of the JB dictionary paper that came in the kit. I scrunched these up a bit to further distress them, and added a MM Valentine Ticket and Maya Road Felt Flower in red to finish up the card.

Lastly, I did add a touch of sparkle in the center of the cut out flower vine by using Red Stickles and I also tied ribbon at the top of the card using the cream grosgrain that came with the kit.

Everything came from the February My Scrapbook Nook Kit with the exception of the Red Stickles and the Cream Mini Brads. :)

Voila!!

Please join us at that Cuttlebug Challenge Blog to check out the other DT work and play along with us. We're giving away a Basic Grey Paper Pack next Thursday to a winning participant!! And I believe there are still just a few limited February My Scrapbook Nook Kits still available.

CHA Winter 2009: Chatterbox

Oh my Gawd!! This new Fabulous line from Chatterbox, to me, was the hit of the ball! I just loooove THIS!! I think I need EVERY SINGLE thing in this line! No ands ifs or butts!!

Click here to see a video of the Chatterbox booth and interview with Melody, founder of Chatterbox.

CHA Winter 2009: Melissa Frances

Melissa Frances is one of my all time fav's!! The new paper line is called Fresh Twist and the accents are called Girl Stuff.

Melissa Frances also has those cool journaling pages mini album a la MM. Click here to see since I failed to get a picture of it. :(

Next Up....Chatterbox!

CHA Winter 2009: Bazzill

Bazzill really did it for me with their Cardstock with an Edge a few years ago, and who can forget their Bling Cardstock when it came out. I still use these two products almost every day!! Last season, they came out with their most recent addiction that I just HAD to have, the Swiss dot papers. I loved those cute little dotty embossed papers.

Well, this time, Bazzill has outdone themselves again. Check out these Embossed Cardstocks and I looove their new Edges product!!

Next Up.....Melissa Frances!

CHA Winter 2009: Fancy Pants

I've loved Fancy Pants for a very long time and I was a getting a bit bored with their cookie cutter compturized graphic flourishy look there for awhile. But these two lines really grabbed me!! Its a fresh look for them for sure!!

My very very very favorite line of this CHA show is THIS ONE....called Kraft Kuts! I mean...just look at it! Need I say anything more??

Then there's this whimsical line called On A Whimsy

Look!! They're going to have these adorable mini album / journaling pages (just like you know who!!)

I'm very very enamoured with Fancy Pants again!!!!!

Next Up.....Bazzil!

CHA Winter 2009: New Little Yellow Bicycle

I'll admit that this is a departure from the usual style that I normally lean towards, but this is such a very cute and clean line. It reminds me of Making Memories and I think these lines have so much potential!! I especially love the green/magenta colored line called Zinnia!!

Here are some pics I took at the booth at CHA this past weekend. Oh by the way, I loooove that Little Yellow Bicycle distributed REUSABLE bags - they look like those ones from Trader Joes, so I'll definitely be using these over and over again. This company rawks for being so GREEN for our environment!

But before I begin, I'm so loving these clear cut journalling spots and frames from this company. Its fresh, new and different to me.

I really love their lacey paper. :)

Next Up.....Fancy Pants!!
