Embellish Online & Creative Chaos DT Gallery Reveal

Love is in the Air over at Embellish-Online this February!! Barb got BG's Bittersweet in, so I got to play with this gorgeous line this month for my DT projects! She also has the new BG Marrakech and BG Porcelain lines in too!

Here's what I created for our February DT Gallery reveal using the BG Bittersweet line. I couldn't help myself by adding a bit of Jenni Bowlin scraps in since JB is my other most favorite line! My new friend Jason likes this first card the best because he says he likes the dictionary text background; the others are too Valentiney he says...lol! I say the man has GREAT taste if he loves Jenni Bowlin too! (Jason, you've earned Big Brownie points with me for liking what I like!)

I'm really enamored with paper pleats so I created some contrast by pleating the rose fuscia colored BG Bittersweet papers against the paler BG patterned paper and the JB dictionary paper. I added a K&Co banner sentiment for a soft contrast and a splash of color against the JB dictionary paper and finished it off with a sheer brown organza ribbon.

For my second card, I obviously wasn't done with my obsession with paper pleats. This idea of pleating the edges was inspired by Jeja who is an amazingly talented scrapper who posts over at My Scrapbook Nook.

The heart shape was traced from an acrylic book that was raked to me by the sweet and generous Christine who is a fellow DT member at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog with me. I layered BG Bittersweet chipboard elements, Prima flowers and some gold flowers I found in the Christmas clearance section at Michaels around this really awesome journalling spot from Creative Chaos. This particular spot is from the Sampler Pack List Journaling Jotters Set. The sentiment "is time spent with you" was printed on an office manilla folder in Staccato222BT font, from which I hand cut and hand positioned/glued onto the orange journalling spot.

I also aged the edges of the Jenni Bowlin dictionary text paper fringe with my Colorbox Craft Cats Eye Inks in Peach Pastel and Tangerine, which I got at Scrap 'N Yap, to better coordinate the papers with the orange round journalling spot from Creative Chaos. Here's a detailed pic of the dimension for this particular card:

Lastly, here's my 3rd card I created for Embellish Online. The shape of the card was actually traced from some Jenni Bowlin packaging, and then I piled on some Heidi Swapp and Lil Davis flowers while arranging some BG Bittersweet chipboard flourishes around yet another Creative Chaos journalling spot. This spot comes from the Love Notes Journaling Jotters Set. {This was the card that Jason said was too Valentiney. LOL - I think that was male vernacular for too girly and too cutesy!}

I finished this card off with some Kaiser Pearls that I got from Urban-Anthology and the title sentiment was completed with my favorite alphas in the whole world: MM Tiny Alpha Stickers. The ribbon was a scrap from one of my ribbon spools found in the $1 section of Michaels. I wanted a neutral color of ribbon so that it didn't compete with the bold colors and textures of the rest of the card.

I still have one last card to share with you from my Embellish-Online February DT Gallery reveal, which I will do sometime at the end of this week. I'm running a bit behind in my schedule, so I really do have to work on my time management going forward. :(

I hope you take the time to go and check out the rest of the Embellish-Online February DT Gallery. Everyone did a phenomenal job!!!

Now, I can't sign off on this post without asking you all to go and look at my dear and talented friend Eva's blog. She won last month's Embellish-Online contest and received the entire BG Bittersweet line from Barb. You HAVE to go and see her exquisite cards that she created with the BG Bittersweet collection!! Check out Eva's card here and her amazing tutorial project here.

I know Valentine's is over, but if you're like me, you probably still have yet to scrap your Valentine's pics. I'm in a pretty lovey dovey mood lately, so I know I'll still be creating Valentiney type projects for a while. So if you're loving this new line from Basic Grey and/or wanting any of the newly released Marrakech and Procelain lines from CHA, definitely head on over to Embellish-Online. Remember, you can ALWAYS save 20% off your order if you use the coupon code.

***COUPON CODE ALERT****
Don't forget....GLITTER is the magic word to get you 20% off of your entire order. Coupon code is available everyday, all year round making Embellish-Online the BEST place to shop!

Cuttlebug Stationary Box Tutorial FEATURING Art Freckles "Ticket to Whoo-ville" Kit

Photobucket

As promised in my previous blog post, I have been really excited to share my pictorial tutorial with you that I created for our Fab Friday Tutorial at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. I'll admit, this is the most extensive tutorial I've ever done...lol...you'll see as you keep on scrolling.

I fell in love with this Stationary Box that was originally designed by Jackie Topa and I wanted to share with you my version that I created with the February Kit from Art Freckles called "Ticket to Whoo-ville."

This is the outside......

....and this is what the inside looks like.

I created a pictorial tutorial for you if you'd like to make one for yourself. Go grab a cuppa cuz this is going to be a long one. :)

Supplies Needed: (for the stationary box holder and top only)
* 3 pieces of 12x12 cardstock and/or coordinating patterned paper. (In my example, I used only
patterned papers from the Art Freckles kit.)
* Paper Trimmer with trimming AND scoring blade
* Scoring bone to crease your folds
* Red sticky double sided tape
* Embellishments to decorate the outside of your Stationary Box. (In my example, all embellishments except for Prima flower are from the Art Freckles kit.)

Additional Supplies Needed: (for set of 4 tags, 4 qty 3x3 cards and 4 qty 4.25 x 5.5 cards)
* 3 sheets of 12x12 cardstock for card and tag bases.
* Additonal patterned papers and embellishments as required to create these items.
NOTE: The cards and tags will NOT be covered in this tutorial.

PART A: Making the Stationary Box Unit

Step #1: Take your first piece of 12 x 12 paper and SCORE IT @ 3 inches and 9 inches.

Step #2: Flip this same piece of 12 x 12 paper around, now SCORE IT @ 5 inches and 7 inches.

Step #3:
Step 4:
Step 5: fold and glue it down like this.

Step 6:

Step 7:

Step 8:

Step 9:

Step 10:

Whoohoo!! If you've gotten this far with me, you've just completed making the outside shell of the Stationary Box!

PART B: Stationary Box Shelves (there are 3 of them)

Step 1:
Step 2:
Step 3:

Step 4:

Step 5:
Step 6:

Step 7:

Step 8:

Step 9:

Step 10:

Step 11:

Step 12:

Step 13: I used the branch border from the Just My Type Cuttlebug folder set to emboss a long length of matching brown cardstock to decorate the front of my shorter "shelves."

(please disregard all the contents in my Stationary box for now.)

Step 14:

Whoohooo! We're almost there to the finish!!
Let's make our Stationary Box top now, shall we?

PART C: Stationary Box Top

Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

Step 4:

Alrighty, we're at the last stretch. Let's make our inside flap doodads, i.e. post it note holder, stamp holder and pen loop.

Here's what the inside doodads look like to keep you motivated to continue on with our little project. :)

PART D: Inside Doodads

Step 1: Cut into a coordinating piece of cardstock or patterned paper at 3.25 x 6.25 dimensions. Score it in the middle, and put a pad of 3x3 post it notes inside. I decorated the top of my post it note holder with some ribbon. Glue the covered pad onto the LEFT side of your inside flap opening of our stationary box.

Step 2:

Step 3:

The stamp pocket is glued to the RIGHT side of the flap and the pen loop is glued nearer the bottom of the flap (when open) as pictured.

Yeeaahh!! We're done! Now, please go ahead and make a few 3x3 cards to insert in the LEFT smaller pocket shelf, some embellished tags for the RIGHT smaller pocket shelf, and some 4.25 x 5.5 cards for your larger pocket shelf in the back. You're on your own for these items as they are not a part of this tutorial.

If you loved the specific supplies I used for my Stationary Box, please visit Art Freckles to see their February "Ticket to Whoo-ville" monthly kit. Shannon, Renee, Linda, and Kimberly are the nicest gals around.

Art Freckles will also be hosting a Cyber Crop at the end of March! Be sure to join us then for lots of fun challenges and prizes!!

Thank you for sitting in with me THIS long for this Stationary Box tutorial. Please join us NEXT Friday, and EVERY Friday, for our Cuttlebug Challenge Blog's Fab Friday series.
