Making Poo

The nights during Thanksgiving weekend are long (usually Todd is up until about 5:00 am playing computer) so he likes to sleep in. Tayson, Adam and Luke took the opportunity the morning after Thanksgiving to learn how to make poo on youtube then they placed it on the bed next to Todd (I took a quick picture of course). Sadly, he sleeps so deeply that he knocked it off before he woke up to see it - but the picture made him laugh so hard.

in case you were wondering...the instructions for making poo are taking an empty toilet paper roll, soaking it in water, tearing it to small pieces, then squishing out the water to form a poo shape.

Feats of Strength

It wouldn't be a Schultz Thanksgiving without feats of strength. It all started with Trevor and Danny arm wrestling...after Danny got called out. Danny won. Then we moved on. I'm not sure all the battles that happened - but Danny was dethroned as family champion by Trent. I'm pretty sure he'll be ready for next year :)

Steve and Alex.
This battle was crazy - it went on forever and no one ever won. Steve had Alex to within and inch from the floor 75% of the time but couldn't ever finish him off. It finally ended in a draw.

George vs. Mark
George won again with his "old man farmer strength".

Mark and Trevor did a push-up contest - it had to end when Trevor threw up a little in his mouth due to a few too many pieces of dessert. Those 2 boys were crazy - I couldn't believe how many push-ups they could do and so many clapping ones too.

Then Trent said something to Todd so I challenged him. It was a tough battle and it took both my arms, my knee and some help from Roman and Timmy - but I finally beat Trent!

Other fun family games we played this weekend: ping pong, volleyball, cranium, werewolves and lots and lots and lots of computer gaming.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Of course my camera was out of batteries on Thanksgiving...thank goodness my phone has a camera. This year we had a huge group for Thanksgiving. Everyone was here except Sherry's family and Ginger and Kelly from our side and Christine's family came too so we had 50+ people for dinner. Beforehand we decided to split up the day. We did appetizers at my house at 11:30, then dinner at my parent's house at 3:00, then dessert at Christine's house that night. It was nice to spread out the preparation and clean up as well as move the chaos around a bit.

Here are the appetizers I served:

George actually raised a turkey for dinner this year. He asked my dad if he wanted him to bring it in a cage or a cooler. HA! He brought it in a cooler thank goodness. It was a nice big tasty turkey.

I made them pose with their used-to-be pet

George carving his turkey

Christine's delicious dessert spread....it was sooooo good.

Earn Your Turkey 4 Mile Run

There were 22 of us who did the run this year and we made new race shirts this year. I loved the sea of blue numbered shirts all weekend. So much fun! I love that everyone is willing to be crazy and get up early on Thanksgiving and go run or walk in 7 degree weather. It was crazy cold this year and even though I was willing to not run this year - everyone was all over racing. It was super fun once we got there and went for it. I love my family!!!

Here we are huddled up trying to stay warm before the race started

Coming in for the finish

The 2 mile walk group

Timmy made dad run at the end

Sophie got too cold and ended up needing to be carried

Todd ran the 1/2 mile with Luke

Tayson missed the 1/2 mile run so he ended up doing the mile run.
Danny ran it with him and he finished strong right after Allen.
Here are the details:
Sophie: 1:24.8 - 100 meter dash and she got 1st place (since she was the only 2 year old girl)

Luke: 5:15 - 1/2 mile

Tayson: 8:07 - mile

Me: 31:34 - 4 mile (7:54 pace and 5th in my age group)

Me and my running kids

The whole gang

George took 3rd in his age group because he registered for the 4 mile run and did the 2 mile walk. It was on accident but it sure was funny!

Before Sophie's race she was so excited and gave me "thumbs up" but by the time her race started she was too cold and crying.

3rd Grade Thanksgiving Program

Tayson did a fun Thanksgiving program at school. As you can tell he loved that I came and watched him. Before we even left the school he went in the bathroom and tried washing off the face paint. He actually sang some of the songs - big change for him. It was so fun to watch him.

Once there was a snowman

It snowed on Sunday...not a lot of snow but good thick heavy snow. The best for snowballs and making snowmen. So right after church the kids all bundled up and went outside to make a snowman. They used pretty much all of the snow to make it but our little Frosty turned out great and the kids had a blast. The kids were very happy to be a part of grandma's first snowman and help her get pictures for a winter scrapbook page. And to top it off we had a great reason to use our new hot cocoa machine.

Luke

Claire - still in her church clothes
(just add boots, coat, gloves and hat)

The finished product - I think he looks PERFECT!

Since Claire and I were still in our church clothes I thought I'd get a quick picture.

Sophie slept through most of the fun - but she really wanted to get bundled up and go outside at the end.

Fat Cats

On Saturday when Todd's mom was here we decided to have some family fun. So we took the kids bowling at Fat Cats. The kids loved bowling!!

Sophie and I watching bowling

Claire taking a break from dancing so dad could help her bowl

Luke with his green bowling ball

Tayson did great bowling and was the best of the kids
Check out his sweet wound on his forehead - he got that last week when he rubbed his forehead on the carpet

Luke bowled with his shoes on the wrong feet the entire time

Claire wanted a picture of her feet too after I took one of Luke's. Her leg warmers look too cute with her skirt and bowling shoes.
