Halloween

Halloween started by me sending all the kids off to school then Sophie and I got dressed up and she came to work with me.  She was so excited to spend the morning with me at work and everyone kept giving her candy and telling her how beautiful she looked.  She would always respond with a sweet little "I know." Precious.  I'm pretty sure my kids think I do nothing at work but walk around talking to people and drawing on the white board in my office.

Then she and I left to go to the school parade.

Since the boys couldn't wear their real costumes to school Luke decided to just be an army guy.

And Tayson was a basketball player

Claire was Mulan at school.
How cute is Emalee dressed as Katy Perry?

Ryan wore his whoopee cushion costume.  Classic.

While we were leaving Luke laid down on the grass and said "you can't see me now".  HA!

Halloween night the boys wore their real costumes.

They are from the computer game Minecraft that they always play.  I love their costumes!!

I stayed home and handed out candy while Todd took the kids trick or treating.  The kids had a blast!  I don't really love Halloween on a school night because we had to rush to get them to bed instead of hanging out counting candy and talking about all the fun they had.

Mystery Dinner

This years Halloween Mystery Dinner was another success.  The kids LOVE it so much! Which makes the planning and hard work totally worth it.

The Menu

BOO-licious B's - banana ghosts
Sticky Spiders - fruit kebabs with a spider
Ghosts in the Graveyard - mashed potatoes formed into a ghost with peas for eyes and a gravestone
Wrapped Mummies - hot dogs in cresent rolls
Spider Webs - spaghetti w/Parmesan cheese & spider rings
Monster Mash - pudding cups
Salty Spiders - rice crispy treat spiders
Spooky Skeleton - skeleton cupcakes
Mummy's Milk - mummy juice box
Bloody Mary - Fruit punch with floating hand (although ours was missing a few fingers)

We didn't get pictures of the food this year (dang it!).  But here are some of the pictures from the sites I used when making dinner.  It was all really cute and fun.

The highlight of the night was when Megan showed up as Cinderella.  Sophie was so happy.  Megan sat at the princess table and ate with the girls the whole time.  It was so dang cute!

Todd & Steve dressed up.  Todd was so freaky with that nasty beard!

Even my parents dressed up!!

After dinner was finished we pulled out Just Dance 3 on the wii and had a good time.  No-one could beat Christine - she rocks at this game!!

(can you see the freaky fly that Todd & Timmy hooked to the ceiling fan?)

 How cute are these two??

1st Annual Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza

We had done pumpkin carving a few times before this one.  But this was the first "big" extravaganza.  It was 2004 and we were totally old school with just newspaper on the ground.   Luke sat in his carseat the entire time.  Chris didn't come this year because of the nauseating smell of pumpkin guts.  Heidi had a perm - AWESOME!  Trent had long curly hair, but it wasn't a perm.   And we carved a total of 4 pumpkins.  Times have sure changed.

8th Annual Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza

As usual this years pumpkin carving was awesome.  The house was jam packed with people eating, carving and having fun.  We covered the entire floor with plastic table cloths, set out lots of bowls and bags to capture the pumpkin guts and got to business.  I was in the kitchen for 2 straight hours making scones for the Navajo tacos.  They were as yummy as ever with Steve's homemade chili or smothered in honey butter. We carved 23 pumpkins this year! Todd and I did the big pumpkin eating the little pumpkin.  I was supposed to carve my little one but never got out of the kitchen so he carved it for me.

This is definitely one of my favorite FHE's of the year.  I look forward to it for months.  I love parties!

I don't know how it happened but I can only find these 2 pictures from my phone.  I'm sure we took pictures and we have looked on all our sd cards...but they are no where to be found.

Out with the boys

Yesterday was Annabell's birthday so Heidi took  Claire for a sleepover.  When she got here Sophie wasn't about to let her leave without going to spend the night with her best friend Jo Jo.  Since the girls were gone Todd and I decided to take the boys out.  We went to Goodwood for yummy ribs. Then to see A Dolphin Tale.  Then ended our big night with Farr's fresh frozen yogurt.  It was a great night and even though we joked about how easy life would be with only 2 kids I'd never give up my sweet and crazy girls.

This morning was great too.  Since the girls were gone no-one woke me up during the night and I got to sleep in.  Then Todd and I went for a 10 mile run and my house is still perfectly quiet.  Maybe I should tell the boys they need to get dressed and get off the computer since it's 1:30 but I am just enjoying the quiet a little too much.

Halloween Craft #1

As part of this years Halloween Mystery Dinner I decided to add some table decorations to the party that I found on pinterest.  So for FHE I invited Christine, Jeannie, & Kami and their kids over for dinner and crafting.  Dinner was delicious and the craft was a mad house!! We had to modge podge jars then cover them with strips of tissue paper then cover them again with modge podge.  Then they dry then you cut out faces and hot glue ribbons to the top. We only got a few done while working with the kids then yesterday I did three times as many by myself and with Heidi's girls.  I am very excited for these fun lanterns on our tables during the mystery dinner.  The kids had a blast helping too.

I still need a picture of them all lit up.

Family Pictures

We got our family pictures taken last week.  I stressed and stressed over our outfits.  I went off carbonation to ensure I didn't have any extra bloating.  I went off carbs for a few weeks to lose the extra few pounds I'd put on.  I got fresh haircuts for the girls and myself.  I had my nail done just in case they showed up in any of the pictures (I think you can see them in 1 of 115).  I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. I absolutely love Jen and her style. If you need pictures you should call her cause she rocks!

We did pictures in Park City so after pictures we took the kids out to eat then shopping at the outlets.  I was amazed that even after such a long day they were really good. Todd found some great deals shopping - which he needs because he is too skinny to fit into any of his clothes right now.  It was such a fun day spending time as a family and once again I have great pictures to plaster my walls with.  YIPPEE!!

Goodbye to a good friend

It's official we sold the jeep to Steve & Christine so Eric will have a car in a few months when he turns 16.  I can't believe Eric is old enough to drive.  That is crazy!!  I bought the jeep right after I graduated from BYU in 1998.  It has been the best car and I have absolutely loved it.  I am very happy that it will be loved and cherished by a very deserving 16 year old.  She's still a very pretty car too (sorry Eric but the car is a girl).  No major defects and the body style and color have held their look for a long time.  Well so long my friend.  Please last a long time for Eric so he will love you as much as I do.

Cornbelly's

Every year for Lexie and Annabell's birthday's we go to Cornbelly's. It ended up being a gorgeous warm day and the kids all had a blast.  It was even bigger than last year.  The kids rode on bouncy horses, dressed up like princesses, went in "the beast" and the haunted clown room, jumped on the big air trampoline thing, watched the pig race, rode on the cow train and did the corn maze.  And the good news is that I only lost Sophie once the whole day!

This was the first family event that Timmy brought Megan too. So I thought I'd throw this picture in for documentation :)

10 Years

10 years ago my best friend got married. Since Chris is currently serving our country in Afghanistan on their anniversary I called up Heidi yesterday and told her I was taking her out to celebrate her anniversary. We got a babysitter, ordered pizza for the kids and went out to eat. My mom and Timmy joined us for our special date too. I'm no replacement for spending a fun night with her hubby (wink wink) but it was a fun excuse to have some sister time. I love you Heidi and I am so proud of you and Chris for making the sacrifices you do so I can live in a free country.

The Big Winner

I won this signed jersey at work the other day. Since the Johnson's are more Laker fans than Jazz fans I sent this picture to one of the guys on my team who is a huge Jazz fan. Today at work we get a pizza party thrown by him in exchange for this jersey. A good trade on my part I think :)
