Yesterday Claire gave Sophie's favorite doll a haircut. It did NOT go over well. Sophie was so upset and Claire didn't care at all. She said she just felt like cutting it. UGH. Claire is a pretty destructive kid. She is always tearing things and cutting things. We lovingly call it "going hampster". I'll find books and magazines torn into tiny shreds under her bed. It's crazy to me.

Our new piano
Todd and I thought it was time to get a small digital piano instead of the keyboard. It's perfect for us. It feels just like a real piano but is small and cheaper than a full size. And the best part is that you can wear headphones when you're playing. I've been working on my simplified hymns and even played in FHE yesterday. Nothing great - but it was nice to have some music with our singing.

Sophie's Surgery
When I took Sophie to the dentist a few weeks ago he told me she had lots of damage to her teeth. 18 of her 19 teeth needed work (one still hasn't come in yet). So we scheduled her appointment at the hospital since she would need to be put under for 2 hours. Her appointment was scheduled for 9:30 am. She couldn't eat from midnight on and couldn't drink anything after 6:30 am. So she had nothing to eat since bedtime the night before around 8:00 pm. They were running behind end she didn't end up going in until noon. She kept asking the nurse if she could have a snack. The poor little thing was so hungry.
They came in and gave her something to help her before they took her into surgery so she wouldn't be afraid. She was hilarious. She is already such a silly little thing that with some funny drugs she was crazy. She was totally cracking us up. Her surgery went great. It took just over 2 hours and the dentist said everything went perfect. She has 4 porcelain crowns on her front teeth and on one of her molars she had a baby root canal done and now has a little silver tooth.
Heidi came to hang out with me for a bit while Todd was at Claire's
dad's & donuts. She brought a cute bag of toys for Sophie. With
some awesome Cinderella gloves. I love that she wore them in her
"carriage" on the way out to the car.

President's Day
Todd worked on President's Day so it was the kids and I off work and school. We decided it would be fun to go to Lowe's Extreme Air sports. Heidi, Christine and David all met us there. It was crazy crowded since all of Provo had the same idea we did but it was still a blast!

You've got to be kidding me
Todd took the kids to Toys r Us to spend their cash from great-grandma.
He let each of them pick out anything they wanted as long as it was $10
or less. Sophie came home with a family set of barbie dolls (not real
barbies). It had a dad, mom, toddler, stroller and once undressed we
found a baby in the mom's belly. Totally disturbing. The belly pops
off, the baby comes out and then her flat belly flips over and tada -
she had a baby.
Thanks to this toy this conversation happened:
Tayson: Mom did we get cut out of you?
Me: No some people have babies cut out but I was able to push you all out
Tayson: how?
Me: well... between my legs
Tayson: did it crack your butt hole?
Me: no. it didn't come out of my butt closer to where I pee
Tayson: oh. so don't you think there should be blood on the barbie?
Me: (grateful for the change of subject) yea I guess so

My baby
We got to watch baby Parker this weekend while Jeannie was out of town and my parents were working at the temple. Sophie loved having "her" sweet baby around and she kept doing silly things. She and Roman thought it was hilarious to eat dinner at grandma and grandpa's in the high chairs.

Valentine's Day
Since Heidi and I were both single mom's for valentines we decided to throw a fun kids party. We invited Jeannie's kids to join us so they could go out and enjoy valentines as a couple. We ate heart shaped pizza, strawberry milk, and red jello for dinner.
Each of the kids had a special "love" card to open. I had Todd write special messages to the kids before he left. And the kids and I snuck a valentine's card into Todd's suitcase for him too.
Then we let them decorate cupcakes. Which meant way too many sprinkles and all they did was lick off the frosting.
After they were stuffed full of pink and red carbs they played for a bit then fell fast asleep. It was sad not being with Todd on Valentines but we had fun with the kids and I was really glad Heidi was there to hang out with me.
Funny stuff my kids say
Me: Do you know what I do for work?
Luke: you work
Me: Do you know what dad does for work?
Luke: He makes money.......how does he make the coins you think?
Claire: you found my musketeer boots (for her barbie) - you are so smart!
Sophie: I know I am a genius!!
Claire: I think I'll be a Genie so I can grant wishes
Sophie: I'll just be a human I guess

Flashback
I just found these on my computer and they made me smile. My family right after I was born. It's funny to look at these pictures and this about how full my family feels with 4 kids and how tiny the family picture looks with my mom and dad. It's weird to think of them only having 4 kids.
Steve (3 1/2), George (5), Sherry (2), Me (2-3 months)
Sorry Sherry but I had to put this one in because Steve is looking at the camera.
I love how young my mom and dad are in this picture!
Looks like us kids did turn my mom gray and make my dad lose his hair. Ha ha.
Because I don't want to forget
Today my mom posted this on facebook.
Yesterday was my Mother's 98th birthday. For many years I went to Spokane to spend this day with her. We had some fun birthday parties and teas. I woke up not crying until my sweet daughter, my mother's name sake came over with purple flowers for me with a note she was thinking of me. I lost it and am still crying. Oh I miss my Mom. She loves flowers and purple is her favorite color. Love to mom and her thoughtful name sake.
Then my sister Sherry posted this:
I was thinking about her yesterday too. I am filled with joy that she is in heaven, free from her failing body with her loved ones. Christ's grace is sufficient. She has not gone far. She is closer than you realize. You just can't hold her hand right now. Love you mom!I never ever want to forget how much this meant to me today. I am so grateful for my testimony in eternal families and that I know I will be with my grandma again.
