Blonde or Brunette?

My new look- Ahh- Melissa- what have you done!!! Do you think the banges are cut short enough? I tried to tell the hair stylist that I wanted the new style of banges, you know where they come clear down to the eyes. And what is up with the way some of the hair frames my face & the rest cascades down my back? Yes, I had always wondered what it would be like to be a brunette, and after one night with this cute- yet funny wig- I really prefer being a blonde!
So, in case you would like to dye your hair a different color, might I recommend trying on a wig first!

Now, the real reason for the wig- we played "Where is Waldo" in the mall. I, along with my friends disguised ourselves to "trick" the girls for Young Women's and trick we did indeed. :)
Nicole's disguise was perfect! She hung out in the sports store for 1 1/2 hours while I was in the music store- the girls had to find us based on their "For the Strength of Youth Books." The guy working in Nicole's hangout place finally said to her, "Oh! You're a chick!" ha ha ha When the 2 of us were walking around we got MANY funny looks. One girl even looked scared as I tried to talk to her. Although I'm not sure why... I look perfectly normal right?

So, speaking of hair- my head & I have been having issues working together lately- let me explain some of our issues & then you can see the solution-
-when I feel like I have to pull it back every day from little hands & food- then it's too long
-what on earth is going on with the little baby hairs at the top of my head? where did these come from? that wasn't in the contract when I decided to have babies!
- and gray hairs at my age- REALLY--- I mean REALLY! I thought those didn't come until my kids started dating!!!
- and the color! blah blah blah the color. I used to be blonde blonde blonde (like Landon) and now it is what... brown on top, dishwater blonde on the bottom & gray streaking itself throughout! Please help me now!
- And finally, the most crushing of all- while laying in my sweethearts arms & talking he sweetly says, "I like the color of your hair?" I say somewhat surprised, "You do?" His quick & dreamy response, "Yes, it kind of looks ORANGE right here!" Baha ha ha ha ha ORANGE! Not even brown, or blonde, or golden, or even red, how about strawberry blonde, or any other color, but ORANGE! So, I knew that my hair needed a little fixing- I called my SIL Janelle to the rescue-

Now, Janelle is an AMAZING hair-stylist! She has a natural talent and was able to work wonders & I mean wonders on my head of umm.... hair. So I was really excited until suddenly I saw her mixing up different concoptions to put on my head. The first time I wasn't too worried, after all she had done the same thing before. However, soon she pulled out this ketchup bottle & made up a mix that looked like sweet & sour sauce- wait, isn't that the "orange" I'm trying to get out of my hair? I was a little nervous as she squeezed this gooey mess all over my hair. She told me to "relax" although, I think she enjoyed the look of fear in my eyes. :)

So, after the sweet & sour sauce was washed out, Janelle cut & styled it & I LOVE it! Hopefully no more hair issues for a while! Like I said, Janelle is AMAZING! She has an amazing talent! So, happy ending to the story- no more orange hair (for now anyways, and I'm back to being a blonde! ;)

*Also, my sweet sister Brianna, watched the kids for me & is one of the best aunts in the world. She was so patient with me and the kids. Everyone needs an "Aunt Brianna."

From blonde to brunette to blonde again-

Valentine's Day

Morgan has not missed any school all year & of all days to miss- she was sick on Valentine's Day! Lucky for me, I had signed up to help in her class too. I asked her if she wanted me to pass out her Valentine's for her, but she was so excited about how they turned out that she wanted to pass them out. She spent the day in her pajamas watching movies with Hallie. When Jackson came home, he had a bag full of Valentines. Hallie didn't quite understand why they weren't for her. Jackson's favorite part was getting 3 Toy Story pencils. At one point during the day, I didn't know where Landon had gone. When I found him, he was laying on the floor eating Morgan's cotton candy. When he saw me he said, "Aaahhh!" Almost like he was really saying, "Aah- I've been caught!" Funny kid! Morgan's school party was fun, but I missed having her there with me. It was fun going back home though with her bag of Valentine's for her & looking through them with Morgan, my Mom & Brianna.
When Brian got home we had a yummy lasagna dinner with lots of sugar on the side. Brian was the sweetest Valentine- he left me a beautiful letter in the morning, & even brought me home some of my favorite treats. I have always loved Valentine's Day. My Mom always made us feel so loved when I was growing up. We always had a beautiful dinner with everything red or pink and little Valentines from my Mom. I loved getting my own box of chocolates & candy hearts. Even when I would come home from school without a Valentine, or flowers, or candy from a boy- there was always so much love in our home- something I want to carry on for my kids.

Hallie's Birthday

For the last couple of weeks whenever I have asked Hallie what she wanted for her birthday, her response was ALWAYS, "A Pink Kitty!" Jackson had the great idea that we could buy a white kitty and paint it pink. Thankfully her birthday is close to Valentines & when I went to Target- there sitting on the shelf was the perfect pink kitty. Hallie was so exicted!

Hallie went with Grandma Karen out to breakfast on her birthday and then to Build a Bear where she got a Cinderella Bear. We met her at McDonalds and then went home to all watch Cinderella on Mom & Dad's bed. Hallie was feeling kind of sick, so we let her take a bubble bath in our bathtub. Before we knew it, all the kids were in the tub so they could watch a "movie" and take a bath at the same time. :) Don't worry- Brian and I did not join them.
After the movie Daddy made yummy waffles & the kids all went to sleep. The perfect 3 year old birthday I think.
On Sunday, Grandpa & Grandma Smith with Brianna & Kaylie and brought over the cutest little outfit- hot pink of course! Grandma Karen came & Grandpa Boyd came as well. He brought a movie for Hallie that she and the kids have already watched 4 times! Morgan was sick in bed and kept asking for people to come back and visit her so she wouldn't be alone.
Our kids our so blessed to be able to see family so often!

Hallie is 3!

These pictures really show Hallie's fun personality. She is sweet, funny, beautiful, moody (one of our favorites is the one with her sitting while looking so sad that she has to take pictures instead of watch Cinderella) & overall... Adorable! She is such a fun little girl. I asked her the other day if she was going to be a nice or a mean 3 year old. Her response, "I going to be a mean 3 year old!" She is definately becoming more independant and knows exactly what she wants. Here are our 3 favorite things about Hallie right now-
1. She is so loving! She loves giving people hugs & kisses and constantly says things like, "I love you Mommy!" or "I love Daddy so much!" She is usually the first one to run to Brian when he gets home from work and says "Grrr" while giving him a huge hug. She loves to give "Baby Bear Hugs, Mommy Bear Hugs, & Papa Bear Hugs" before bed. However, the hugs don't differ in size, they are all huge hugs! She misses the kids when they are at school and runs to them to give them a big hug as well. She is the perfect Valentine baby- as she is so good at showing love to others.
2. She has a HUGE sweet tooth! She can honestly smell candy wherever she is. When we go to someones house, she can find candy in their closet, under their bed, in their cabinets, on the counter...she has a great sense of smell for sugar & with her sweet look, she can usually convince anyone to giving her a treat. She chews gum like it is candy- chew, swallow, repeat.
3. Hallie is always so happy! She has an excitement for life and Brian & I love her determination and even her stuborness. We know that as long as we teach her right she will always stand up for it. She brings so much happiness to our family & is so much fun to be around.
We love our little Hallie. She is such a cute & fun little girl. We love watching her grow & learn all about the world around her.
~Happy Birthday baby girl!
