Wow - I've really neglected this blog. I'm always on Facebook though so feel free to look me up over there: Terry Olaes or Summer Olaes.
We have lots of pics on Facebook. Summer doesn't check her FB very often but I'm on mine several times a day. Hope to see ya there!

Hope you're all doing well. It's been very cold here in TX lately. No snow but lots of ice.

Sameenah discovered her thumb Monday night. Time to budget for braces.
More Sameenah pics are available at her SmugMug album.
A day at the races
Friday, November 7, 2008

Saij and I went to a NASCAR race last Saturday. We had a great time. People aren't exaggerating when they say that what's on TV is nothing compared to being there.

Summer and Ciara did some modeling for a charity a couple weeks ago. When I'm done with the pics, I'll post the link here. They were great!
Camping and Bears - oh my!
Monday, October 20, 2008
Actually, it was my son's Cub Scout den, the Bears, but I'm a sucker for sensationalist headlines.
We went to Eisenhower State Park on Lake Texoma, which is on the border of... you guessed it, Texas and Oklahoma, with Pack 98. This scout pack/troop is comprised solely of Christian Homeschool families, which makes it superb to ensure all of the parents are somewhat like-minded. We may differ in how we homeschool but we're all united in the fact that Jesus is our savior. It's nice.
Anyway, Saij and I had a fabulous time. Summer wanted to go but it was too soon after Sameenah was born. There's another family campout in the Spring and she definitely wants to go. The campsites were large and had plug ins for a pop-up or motorhome. We're considering a pop-up camper so that we have something large enough for the family. Hopefully we can make it work.
We hiked, fished, ate s'mores, and did all of the camping types of activities one would expect. Saij and I had a grand time and look forward to the next event. I'll post up some pics when I can find the camera. This was my first camping trip in over 10 years and Saij's first trip in his memory. Our air mattress sprung a leak the first night so we were on the ground for the 2 nights. My back is unhappy with me right now.
Hope y'all are doing well!

Summer's mom took this picture of Sameenah back on 9/26 and she's got such a cute look on her face. You can see more pics of her at her gallery.
Support the BSA - buy popcorn from my son :D
Monday, September 22, 2008
Saij is selling popcorn for his Cub Scout pack (Pack 98 in the Longhorn Council here in TX). The funds help pay for their camping, Pinewood Derby races, and other activities and is their sole fundraiser of the year (similar to Girl Scout cookies).
If you like popcorn or trail mix, please consider supporting him by making a purchase. Prices range from $10 for some caramel corn with peanuts up to $50 for a 5-way chocolate lovers tin. You can also choose to donate $25 to purchase some popcorn for our troops. It makes a cool gift too. ;)
If you want to make an order or have any questions, please post here or email me at tjolaes@hotmail.com. You can either mail me a check or pay via Paypal. Your order will be shipped to you a week or two before Thanksgiving. Thanks everyone!
