mamama!!!!

Big week for Mr. Jack. This morning around 7:00 we heard Jack talking on the monitor...I thought I was dreaming when I thought I heard "mama mama mama" but Erik said he had been hearing it as well!!! After listening to the sweet sweet sound for a few mintues he finally screamed "MOOOOOM" and I knew it was time to get my sweet boy up and give him some kisses for saying "mama"...it made my day...my week...and of course the upcoming mothers day. I will always remember that 2 days before his 6 month birthday he said my name.
These past 2 weeks he's really been wanting to crawl and walk while holding on to our fingers. He's a very curious boy. Well sure enough I've been catching him army crawling in his crib quite a bit lately and he finally is pushing up and thrusting forward to reach his toys. He is on the move!!! The gate for the stairs is going up! He will be sitting up one minute and the next he's 4 feet away chewing on some toy he had his eye on...it's a whole new phase of parenting in which I actually have to use the word "no"! Things are so exciting during this stage!
he didn't exactly know what to do once he got to this point!!

hmm...where should I go?
Happy Birthday Uncle Jeremy!

Pfizer free

After many months on maternity leave I am officially entering into "early retirement" from pharmaceutical sales. I like to think of it as a career transition:) They keep you on unpaid leave for a few months after you deliver which has turned out great because I have been able to keep the Pfizer goods a little longer....computer, car, AMEX, etc...but now, it is officially time to cut all ties with father Pfizer. Pfizer has been so good to us and I loved pharma sales but I really LOVE being home with Jack:) I leave behind Celebrex, Lyrica (an amazing drug), and Aricept (for Alzheimer's).
We have replaced the Pfizer vehicle but we have yet to get a new computer for me to use during the day so Erik has been bringing his work laptop home for me to use every few days. I have so many new pictures of Jack at the arboretum, Jack hunting Easter eggs, Jack sitting up, and Jack up on all fours about to crawl!!! I will post all these photos as soon as I get up and running again.
Sorry for the boring posts....pictures coming again soon!!!

Longhorns are great dancers (and athletes)

Given the fact that Baylor had a very early exit from the big dance (NCAA tournament), we just wanted to officially endorse THE University of Texas Longhorns as our tournament team.

I meant to do this before the tournament even started (in case some of you didn't know I am a proud Baylor alum that bleeds the burnt orange through and through). And before all you Baylor folk get upset...hear my reasoning...

My dad was a distinguished University of Texas alumni who sang my brothers and I to sleep to the Texas Fight song. We were at most of Longhorn football games and had all the burnt orange gear. I decided to go to Baylor because I thought I wanted to be a "professional babysitter" and Texas didn't have that major...go figure...but I remained a die-hard Longhorn fan all throughout college.

My dad passed away suddenly after my freshman year of college and I feel to still be a big Texas fan is the least I can do to have his legacy live on in my life as well as Jack's life. And since they are always great at sports and academic programs it is not very hard for the Olson family to back the Horns! So we sing the fight song to Jack and are already teaching him the phrase "hookem" with his little pointer and pinky finger standing tall.

5 months old

Jack turned 5 months old this weekend! To celebrate we moved all his toys from his downstairs makeshift toy room (aka- the dining room) up to the gameroom. FINALLY!!!! We feel much more organized and we are excited that he can play more independently. Saturday night Erik's company had its annual AXA gala event so Grana came to babysit Jack. Sunday we celebrated Jack's 5 month birthday at Breadwinner's for brunch...I think we were just looking for a great excuse to go eat some wonderful sweet treats! Jack's personality comes out more and more everyday and we can tell he is not going to be shy...he 'talks' SO much! A lot of times we think he is actually talking AT us instead of TO us...discipline seems to be just around the corner:( He is now "rolling" to his toys or whatever destination he chooses so we are doing to have to put the gate up to block the stairs. We can't believe how fast things have gone by and that our son is starting to move around on his own! His weekly schedule is basically eat, play, sleep, eat, play, sleep, go to the park on a nice day, spend Tuesday mornings with dad, have lunch on Thursdays with dad, and the occasional playdate. We love playdates by the way...any takers :) ???
