A Little Behind

I have been terrible about updating lately. It's been so bad that my hubby said something to me about it! My absence hasn't been because things aren't going well because they have. We got back from vacation and Jack started back to school, Jacob had his first day of school EVER, and Erik and I have had multiple date nights which have been nice. Hooray for more babysitters! I finally ordered a photo book of our Florida vacation so I put on some more pics that I had on my phone. Can I just say I LOVE OUR MAC. Erik got me a new laptop last Christmas and he got himself a MacBook Pro....and I LOVE IT. Too bad Erik takes it to work everyday:( The software made it SO easy gather my photos and make a nice book. I will update more soon! Enjoy the pictures if anyone even reads this anymore:)

Brothers...getting so big.
Go bears!
Jacob, Jack, Noah, and Gavin having a little lunch together.
Guess I liked short hair because I got it cut and thinned...again...turns out it's a little easier with 2 busy boys running around in 100 degree weather:)
Jack and his buddy, Eli, on his first day back to school (MDO).
Jacob and his first MDO teacher! He has done GREAT and I am so happy because I love having Tues/Thurs to get things done without my traveling circus:)
Jacob is getting so grown up. He's rough and tumble but still a momma's boy:)
Of course I couldn't get them to stand in a picture together before school.
Erik and the boys before school/work.

Jakey resting while Jack was swimming on vacation.
Ice cream!
Jack was so excited to ride the "Jolly Trolley" back to our resort from dinner.
Jakey eating an apple while waiting on the trolley.
BEST.PIZZA.EVER. Grilled chicken, bacon, tomato, cheese, and avocado pizza at the Clearsky Cafe in Clearwater Beach. SO AMAZING.
Jack wanted a 'smoothie' with his dinner at the Columbia and obviously all they had were virgin strawberry daqauris served in cocktail glasses! We got lots of strange looks that night:/
Love these boys.

You can't make this stuff up.

Last week was a very interesting week for me. It's no secret that Oklahoma has been, well, hard for me. Just to clarify, the people here are WONDERFUL....VERY nice. But between the extreme weather and other random things that have happened since we moved here it just seems that OK doesn't like me very much (sounds silly, I know). Last week was no exception.

On Wednesday morning I went for my usual morning run only to find myself in the parking lot of an apartment complex completely surrounded by law enforcement in a drug raid. SWAT team, FBI, multiple police departments, shields, guns, extra bullet proof vests, people being taken away in the back of police cars one by one....and I had no idea....this is the last intersection I cross before my final mile home and I couldn't see the front of the complex from where I was coming from. I get up to the corner to push the stop light button and I saw the news stations in the gas station across the street shooting their cameras in my direction. I turn around and realize I am less than 100 feet from something very dangerous and that the apartments I run by twice everyday were being raided by probably almost 100 law enforcement officers!!!! Scariest thing I've ever experienced. Finally get across the street, start sprinting away, call Erik in tears and in a panic to come get me immediately. Turns out, this place has a reputation for gang activity, drugs, weapons, etc and has been raided many times. You would think it's in the ghetto but on my running route I run by these things in this order: gas station, those apartments, an elementary school, the POLICE STATION, the PUBLIC LIBRARY, and a christian church...then I turn around and run home the same way. NEVER in a million years would I have thought that could be dangerous. Picture below is from newsok.com and I also attached an article about this raid.

Okay...in the SAME day...I took the boys to the park in the afternoon to play. When we were leaving I went to grab my diaper bag off the park bench and it is filled with BEES!!! WHAT?!?!?! My bag is filled with stinging bumble bees and I am thinking "really God?"...too much for ONE DAY!!! I didn't have food or sippy cups in the bag but apparently they really liked my bag of baby wipes. I loaded the boys in the car and did a series of crazy tactics to get the bees out of the bag (I'm sure people thought I was insane) and tried to salvage what I could. After I got home there was still one bee left and when I got the bag out of the car it stung me in the leg.

Unfortunately it didn't end there, the next day my debit card was taken at chickfila while I was getting the boys a balloon. All in one week...really?!?! I think it's obvious how Oklahoma feels about me living here:)

Luckily I am in a place now where I can laugh about these things. Last year at this time I think I would have had to be medicated or something. Erik and I always joke that someday we will laugh about our time here and how many wild things happened to us in such a short amount of time and we stayed married:) ha. Oh and after last week Erik told me to head south on 35 for a night at Gloria's with friends and some good shopping on Saturday! MUCH needed. Thank you, Erik, for watching the boys so I could make a quick trip to Dallas alone.
