Patiently Anxious

I've been trying to think of a phrase to describe our mentality as Erik is only a few weeks away from completing his MBA. Patiently anxious seems to be fitting. Erik loves his job here but neither of us have fallen in love with the area. Many people LOVE it here but for whatever reason we are having a hard time adjusting. We've lived here 2 years and I still don't know which grocery store to go to, we STILL don't have a church/small group, and we won't discuss the restaurant situation;) With that said, God has given us a patience and contentment that only He can give. We have embraced the slowness of our lives here and just really enjoyed each other. On the other hand, it is hard for us not to get excited about what might be the next phase in our lives. I can't help but wonder if there will at least be a Kroger or Tom Thumb or HEB or MarketStreet close to my home! It's the little things:) We know God's timing is not our own and I'm trying not to stress about the details. Until we know otherwise, life moves on here in Edmond:)

Staying busy.
Went to a graduation party and Jack decided he wanted to go swimming...in his underwear...wearing princess floaties:)
Jacob loves to put stickers all over himself!

Frontier Fundraiser

Erik and I got a rare treat this past weekend. We had a babysitter TWO nights in a row!!! Friday night we went to the OKC Boy Scouts Fundraiser Dinner and Saturday night Erik took some clients to dinner which meant I got to tag along:) Erik called me on Thursday afternoon and said "Oh by the way we have this fundraiser to go to tomorrow night and we need a babysitter and oh yea you need to go find something frontier themed to wear" ...uh, okay. I scrambled to find some cowboy boots (yes, I grew up in East Texas and managed to get out without my own pair of cowboy boots) and our sitter for Saturday night agreed to watch the boys Friday as well...whew:) The Boy Scouts event was "Frontier" themed and was out at Arcadia Farm. I was surprised to find such a beautiful piece of property right in the middle of OK! There were people all over the property in "frontier" gear and they looked like they worked part time at Six Flags ha! It was a super fun party and hopefully lots of boys will benefit from the auction.

We parked our cars and were escorted to the event in these all terrain vehicles.

Full out Frontier! ha
Thanks for the fun date, babe!

Perfect Ending

This is the perfect dessert after you've had a meal like PW's Slow Cooked Spicy Dr. Pepper Pork. Very refreshing. The boys loved it.

Boys and Trucks

I have come to terms with the fact that my Saturdays will rarely consist of a mani/pedi, lunch at a girly restaurant, and a little shopping with the fam. Instead we will be going to things like "Edmond Touch a Truck" followed by a hearty lunch at Texadelphia:) Love my boys. ( I did sneak away by myself on Sunday afternoon for a mani/pedi) :)

Mother's Day Weekend

This past weekend we went to the zoo with friends, had Jack's end of the year soccer party, hosted a belated neighborhood cinco de mayo party, watched A LOT of sports (GOOOO MAVS!!!), and had a wonderful Mother's Day consisting of flowers, cards, brunch at 501, and pizza/ice cream for dinner. I didn't have to cook at all on Sunday thanks to Erik:)

the zoo with Drew, Noah, Ryan, and Gavin
should have known they'd get into the spray area at the zoo!
They got cute little trophies at their soccer party!
This is par for the course at the end of the day...dirty, hungry, tired, but still cute:) Jacob loved the cinco de mayo party!
Not a great picture because it was taken first thing in the morning but the boys had beautiful flowers for me on Mother's Day!
This cutie made my day great.

Jacob ended up eating my strawberry cupcake at brunch...I couldn't resist him:)

Sun+Sand=Happy Boys

We got back from our family vacation to Florida and I'm happy to report that for the first time in Jack's life, he did NOT get sick on either of our flights!!! This is a huge thing because our pediatrician said he would never grow out of his extreme motion sickness:( I have been praying for weeks now that he wouldn't get sick (because it's no fun to worry about dehydration on vacation) and he made it! He was even able to watch out the window on take off and landing for the first time in his life!
We had an amazing time and the boys were in heaven. Jack swam in the pool for hours at a time and we pretty much had to drag Jacob off the beach:) Jack was even able to swim without his floaties toward the end of the trip. We took a car service to the resort and pretty much stayed there the entire time with the exception of walking to dinner 2 of the nights. Early May is an awesome time to visit this beach because it's not so crowded and temps don't get above the upper 80s low 90s. We ate all of our meals outside enjoying the weather and the sunsets. No seaweed, no jellyfish, just powder sand and calm, beautiful water. It was 90/sunny every day we were there and after the winter/spring we've had we appreciated every second of warmth in the Florida sun! :) We also loved the uninterrupted time with had with Erik. No work and no studying. The boys loved playing with dad for a few days!! Now back to our routine and Erik's last round of classes.

LOVE my boys.

Literally having to drag Jacob off the beach:)

Handsome hubby:)

The sunsets were incredible.

Delicious crabcakes with a fennel/watercress salad.
