Idaho or Bust: Day 1

Let’s take a quick break from the updates on the house to find out what we were doing for the 2 1/2 weeks were were in Idaho!

My family had a reunion the first week in July. It was a jam packed/fun filled/crazy fun week spent with all my siblings {except 1}. There was plenty of time to visit and let all the little cousins get to know each other. My kids had so much fun spending time with cousins they haven’t seen since they were tiny.

We lucked out and were able to purchase plane tickets {we were planning on driving but we got a killer deal!} Ben’s cousin Emma so willingly let us crash at her house and then drive us to the airport super early for our 6:45am flight! {Our tickets were out of D.C.} After 10 hours of traveling, we made it to Salt Lake City where my family greeted us {WITH SIGNS!!!} It was then onto Pocatello where we were so exhausted, we collapsed into our beds once we got there!

One of our layovers was in Phoenix. Ben served his mission there, and hasn’t been back since. He still remembered certain areas as we were flying over, a pointed them out! Here’s Camelback mountain. He climbed this while on his mission.

We were there for 3 hours. A LONG layover for these kids. Needless to say, we walked the entire terminal.

Our flight from Phoenix to Salt Lake was super short. We flew over a storm as one point. Ben and I were talking, and he looks out the window as the clouds part and we see the Grand Canyon:

A Month of Progress

It is so amazing how much work has been done in the last month. We left for our trip to Idaho on the 1st of July, and there was only the “dance floor” on the house and the garage was framed in.

We came home to a fully framed house, ready for the rough in plumbing. Unfortunately, we don’t have step by step detailed pictures of the progress made. {We DO have footage on our go-pro that eventually we’ll have a time-lapse video done!} But, I do have all the pictures to catch us up to date.

Ben teases me when I see corn and say, “Knee high by July.” This corn is WAY over our heads already. But, when we went out to Idaho, he had to agree with me. Corn in Idaho is about “knee high by July!” This is the field in front of our house:
