ONE PART WATER, THREE PARTS COLOR

today was my thursday class.. with my colorful teacher... i think i mentioned we were going to do a rodeo rider... when i originally looked at the photo, i wasnt that excited, but then after seeing what he put in the painting and how he did the dust~~ i thought hey, this might be fun!!! and it was!!

the teacher keeps asking me why i dont sell my work?? first of all who would by it?? LOL and also i feel it would become like a job.. and i dont want a job.. looking to have fun and just relax!!

in tomorrow's class we are doing portraits.. and of course i'm in hog heaven!! going to try and paint one of my hubby.. fingers crossed it looks something like him..

been really busy lately... between painting, dancing and cleaning out the pond.. no time left over..

this is the dreaded pond... lol have lifted those rocks way too many times now.. and even tho its finally REALLY clean .. for some reason, it still leaks!! aargggghh!!!

but i have to say its wonderful to sit out there and hear the waterfall , the birds chirping and the chimes gently blowing in the breeze.. its really relaxing.... so i guess its worth it!! lol

have three art classes this week and hopefully will be able to post a new painting soon...started a rodeo rider, flying by her barrel.. that is good so far.. keeping fingers crossed!!!

off to tie up grapes and plant some tomatoes.... and tonight is dance class.. can't get much better than that!!

it a beautiful day today.. been lazing round out by the pond.. it maybe leaking, but the water is so calming i'll just keep filling it up till we figure out what the heck is going on...

did the koi awhile back.. the part i enjoyed the most was the scales.. they look so real.. after doing the back ground and it still being wet..., quickly wipe out the shape of the fish with a damp brush..... let it all dry.. then get a bag that carries oranges/onions. and the cut a piece out(6x6) and stapled it on piece of card board 6x6 , with a hole already cut in the middle (about 4x4 hole)... lay the cardboard over your fish, with the soft colors from the background are still showing and with a thirsty rag.. wet and dap the color off... where you want want your fish scales.. make sure you keep the cardboard very still and don't move it.. it will remove the rest of the color, except whre the lines are in the bag..and leave the blue looking area ,for the scales.. different size bags are out there get the size that will owrk the best for your fish!! practice on a piece of paper first, by just throwing down paint and letting it dry.. then just have fun!! you can then do it also where you have put in the red or yellow later, on your fish!! add the eyes and whiskers and.. a koi..!!

Thought i would give Ellie another try.. Seeing if i could make her look more her age!! She is such a beautiful little girl.. She is so fun to paint!!

Going to a face drawing class tomorrow. This will be a one time shot with a different teacher.. Looking forward to it!!

been really busy at work... we are getting close to finalizing the sale.. should hear from the appriaiser soon and then its just a matter of waiting till we close, on the 26th!!! they are so excited, its their first house !!

thought i'd put in painting from last year, in my friday class!! we were studying values.. really enjoyed doing the bob wire fence..

just finished my painting from class last thursday... this is a mountain lion... he's done very loosely except for his eyes and nose.. the rest is lots of wet in wet and mushing the paint.. so not to get too many hard lines...

after i finished i took colbolt blue and put it over the whole left side, so its appears to be in the shade.. hope it worked..

today is wishy washy day!! and we each put in our paintings!!

the idea behind our paintings, was to just work with a few colors, to have all sorts of yummy greys... let them bleed and run into each other and come out with an elephant. did draw in the legs and placemnet of the eye.. i left lots of white on the top of his head and down the front of his trunk. then at the end~ negative painted around him, to give him form!! this was really fun!!! colors used were..ac,umb,cerblue,and ay..

off to work .. hoping for time to play a bit more with WC, later today!!

ut oh... i almost forgot to post today... was having so much fun with granddaughter and then we had some friends that were celebrating their birthday, so went over to meet with them and the day got away from me...

since spring is in the air thought i'd share some happy sunflowers... painted these a few years back, they make me smile!!.. love yellow...

tomorrow is wishy washy painting day!!..( i have two partners this week.. normally its just nora and i .. but ann's partners were missing, so she joined us with our painting challenge this week!!) any way tomorrow is the day we show our paintings, to each other and the rest of the painting friends group.. we are part of the lonely brush club .. together we pick some thing to paint , choose a technique to use and then we have a week to complete it! its always fun to see how they come out some time really different some times right on... i'll share mine in here tomorrow..
