Hanging out

Just a random picture I took of the girls in their bouncy seats.
Addison looks like Winnie the Pooh to me here.

Miss Bug Eyes Kate, herself.  I call her Yertle the Turtle.

Sick Bed

Apparently in Ben's family they had something called the sick bed when everyone was home sick.  This is taken from our dreadful week where our house was falling apart and we were sick.  Earlier I too was in the sick bed.  Kate and Addison are in a nearby fold n go (not sick thankfully).  This is how we spent two days!

Dear Kate and Addison

I wanted to write you this note.  Right now you are both sleeping and I am trying to get things cleared out and unpacked in our new house, so this will be short.  Although I love you both deeply, your nursing days are sadly over.  I will still pump some breastmilk for you, but it will be mixed with formula.  Now some say you will not be as smart as kids who are breastfed longer.  If this ends up being the case, then the two of you can sit down with your father and I and come up with adequate compensation.  Maybe a new car or a nice vacation?  The fact of the matter is, it was taking a long time to feed you.  Since you do have a sister and two brothers, it is only fair to them that I allow myself to be able to take care of them too.  Besides, look how much fun you are having when they give you the bottle!  Really, consider it sibling bonding time.  Although your other siblings were breastfed a lot longer, do not think that we love them more than you.  If your brains have not developed at all, ask them to read this letter to you.

Love, Mom

Kate

My brother, who is Curtis Earl Photography, came over last night to take pictures of the girls.  These are the top picks of the night!  Kate was easy at first, then got mad at the end.  Addison would not even hear of having her picture taken until Kate was upset, then she was mellow.  These turned out so cute and we didn't even have to leave our house:)

The Week In Review

So I really should be working on the house right now, but I need to document this week!  Oh my goodness:)  Now, a disclaimer....I am not complaining (well, not REALLY).  I am merely documenting this for our posterity when we print this blog!

We moved into our new house last Saturday.  It was hard work, but it got done.  Ben even stayed up all night Friday night in the rain putting the kids beds together at the new house!  He's crazy, AND he scared me when I said goodbye to him at 2 a.m. Saturday morning with the thought in my head he would be back in about an hour.  When I woke up at 4a.m. to feed the twins and he wasn't home, I waited until 4:30 to call.  When his phone rang two feet away from me on our dresser, I thought maybe he was home.  Well, I looked around and no Ben.  I waited until about 5 a.m. before searching for the extra key to our van and preparing to car seat the girls so that I could go look for him.  I go out to the garage and there he is, pumping out our food storage water tanks!  Well, at least he was safe, even if he is still nuts and I was without some sleep.

Saturday we got moved in.  We were brought dinner, thank goodness! Ben finished pretty late and looked like he was going to drop dead any minute, but it got finished.  He did have a good time in the attic helping the cable guy (well, it was not a good time, but our cable got put in the way we wanted).  The installer did the cable wrong, but Ben was able to fix it. Good thing installation was free or we'd be sending THEM a bill! We had help from many people in all aspects, so it could have been much worse!  Sunday, we are both very sore but make it to Church with all the kids, all of us in Church clothes...not too shabby.  The week doesn't start off too bad, well....

unless you count every time I would wash a load of clothes, the garage would end up flooded.

So, Ben worked on that, crawled under the house and was able to re-attach the pipes.  Now, during this time I ended up very sick.  Tonsillitis...  Fever of 101, achy, sore, coughing, feeling like I got ran over by a bus.  Thursday morning I know I am not able to get the kids to school.  Well, I didn't have to because they ended up both being sick too!  I was never so excited for my kids to be sick. I guess because it gave me a good reason for keeping them home from school.

So here we are, Bailey Emma and I are all sick... but we have a VERY healthy Nathan terrorizing the house and then smiling:)  At once point there was blue permanent marker on our wood floor (which Ben did get out).  The twins remained healthy, just a little stuffy in the nose.  We mostly spent Thursday and Friday all in my bed watching cartoons all day.

So Friday afternoon I am feeling better.  I decide to take a shower.  Well, I had noticed funny sounds from the toilets and showers all day, and when I went in to see ours there was "dirt" all in it.  I thought maybe leftover from Ben being under the house.  I washed it down, then got in the shower.  Well, the shower wasn't draining anymore so I rushed through and got out.  It took a while but the water eventually went down.  Come to find out from Ben that wasn't dirt (my contacts weren't in).  There was a sewer back up.  Ben to the rescue again borrowed my dad's snake and tried to unclog the pipes.  He couldn't get the right angle so he called our landlord.  She said there was a problem with sanitation before and they had to dig up the whole front yard to fix it.  Ben called their 24 hour line (by this time it was 9 p.m.) and they came out to fix it in a few hours.  So, our showers are sewage free thank goodness and we are also getting a new dishwasher  today from our very embarrassed landlord (Oh, did I not mention that the dishwasher likes to leave soap all over the bottom rack of dishes?!)

I know this story might have a few holes as I am trying to hurry.  ATT should be here soon to fix our phone line (which has not worked since we moved in!)  and I need to get things going.  Quite the week, yes.  We made it to the other side.  The kids are fever free today and my husband will continuously have the title of MacGyver .  He's been up in the attic, under the house and who knows where else to get us going!

Is anyone else tired after reading this?

9 Years!

I woke up this morning to find this cute little note on my kaboodle (yes, I do own one!)  Ben had written an excerpt from "our song"-- "To Make You Feel My Love" by Garth Brooks. It is our anniversary today.  I thought how cute to leave me a little note...
Then, I went to turn on the computer before waking up the kids.  Another portion of the song.

Then, on to get Nathan's milk out of the fridge and yet another one!
On the oven nearby was a box of doughnuts...

Then, in Addison's car seat was a card.

It was truly a nice surprise.  Ben is not one to usually do something "cutsey" like this, so it was an even bigger surprise.  The doughnuts entice the kids to get out of bed and get ready for school quickly, and I don't have to cook breakfast!  Everyone is in a better mood and we do not have to rush out the door for school.  It was a great morning, despite me having another round of a cold and sore throat.  And here I thought "number 9" is an uneventful year:)

Quickly!

Alright, so the house really needs some attention with unpacking!!   But, we did have a three way doc appointment today and I need to document before the stats leave my head....

Addison weighs in at 9 lbs., 6 oz. 21 1/2 inches long in the 22nd percentile
Kate comes in a close second at 8 lbs., 7 oz. 21 inches long, varying in the 5th-10th percentile
(OK, so it's not that close, but she is still progressing!)

Also, the doctor listened to her heart and said the murmur is sounding quieter, I think?  What she meant was that it seems to be closing up.  We'll get a good check up on it next month at the cardiologist.

Nathan is now 27 pounds, 33 inches tall.  He is in the 40th percentile, and the doc said if he grows the way he is, he will end up about 5 foot 10.  Not too bad.

The girls did not get shots today because they did not receive their shipment in time.  Doc said they will be fine to wait until 4 months to get their first rounds.  I'm actually a little happy about that considering they are preemies.

So, in the rain with two two month olds and a two year old is more than double trouble!  One lady even commented as I was walking out how "full my hands were" (haven't heard that one before!)  Then she said-what did you have triplets or something!  I bit my tongue to not say "Either help me or shut up!"  But I caught Nathan as he was wondering out to the parking lot, got him in the car and the girls only were barely rained on.  Phew...It's done for two more months.

Also, I noticed the ticker today for law school countdown... we are only nine months away. It'll be like the sixth child we will never have:)

Moving into the house is going well.  I am going to take pictures, especially of my ice maker in the fridge of which I am most excited!

Holding hands

Maybe it's comforting?  Who knows, but it's cute.

Maybe it's like your appendix...

Can you see it (or lack of it)? Read below and then come back and look!

Monday night...Oh what a fun night!  I was in cleaning the kitchen when I heard Nathan start screaming.  I went into the living room and found him face down on the floor, his little tricycle on top of him.  Bailey had already rushed to his side, and was trying to calm him down.  I was going to let him just get up by himself and shake it off, but I thought I'd be an extra nice mommy and pick him up.  I noticed there was blood on an animal cracker on the floor, then that there was blood on the floor, then on my shirt where Nathan had buried his face.  I looked to see where the blood was coming from and realized it was his mouth.  So, you know that little flap of skin attached behind your lip to the top of your gums above your two front teeth?  Well, that was detached....  I was able to stop the bleeding, but it didn't look like it would stay that way long.  I called Ben and he eagerly came home (he has a bit of senioritis with school right now).  We weren't sure what it exactly means to detach that part of your mouth. I mean, what is it used for?  Nathan recovered fairly quickly and decided while he was in the bathroom he wanted to go potty.  So I put him on his little toilet.  Well, he sat there for a while until he decided it would be better to pee in the doorway of the bathroom.  I mean, there was already a blood mess for me to clean up, why not pee as well?!  Ben came home and we called the dentist's after hours number.  He called back and said it would be OK until Wednesday when he would be in the office to look at it.   Well, that was today and all is well.  The dentist said that if it doesn't re-attach, it'll be fine.  So, Nathan might forever have a detached whatever it's called.  Everyone has to have some funny thing about themselves to talk about at a party, right?

Big Ol Babies!

So I know that these last few pictures have all been in their car seats, but really they do other things than get toted around!  As you can see, Addison in all her chub glory (see info below).  I had to get pictures of them in their cute flower headbands!
Kate is below, slightly smaller in chub but she sure tries hard!

The girls got weighed today.  Drum roll please...........................................

Addison is 9 pounds, Kate is 8 pounds 4 ounces.

Quite the difference between them, but at their one month check up a few weeks ago, they were 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 7 pounds 1 ounce.

For the Record

Addison in her pink bunny hat from Nana.  We are heading to the park and she is headed to sleep....

Kate has already beat her there...

Addison is definitely the chubbier of the two.

So I am trying to write more to go along with pictures.  I told Ben about how my friend Melanie had her blog turned into a book and now he is more interested in our blog:)  We will probably have it printed once a year.

Today we went to playgroup, a Wednesday tradition for the last five years (!)  Well, by the time I got there I could only stay for a half hour because Bailey and Emma had a half day.  Oh well... Nathan had fun anyway.  What is funny is the new "generation" of play group kids.  When I started Emma was about nine months old, almost about to walk.  Now, Nathan is the same as most of the kids--and there is a pretty large crop.  I think about nine of us in the ward were pregnant all about the same time (a September to February range).  Now, the new editions are coming, with the twins age group.  It'll be fun to watch each age range grow up together.

Too cute....

I had put them together on their tummies in bed, thinking they might hang out for a bit.  Instead they both fell asleep and this is what I found...

Nathan's Birthday Party

Nathan got a tricycle from Grandma and Boppa.  He can't really ride it yet, but he pushes himself around the house in it.  For now it is indoors until we move to our new house with a backyard where he can go crazy.  He is a biking fool...

"ELMO!" He was excited to open his new movie from Nana and Grandpa Scott. They also got him some books that were great for Church on Sunday!

Blowing out his two candles.  This took a couple tries and Bailey and I helping.  You would think how much he loves to torment Emma by spitting on her, he would get this down.

Bailey and Emma did their rock star show, Special Birthday Edition for Nathan.  They are true entertainers.  I still need to figure out how to post their Christmas show in the blog or You Tube.  It was seriously the funniest thing ever.

Last but not least, here is the cutest two year old with his birthday balloon.  It is Monday and he is STILL carrying this thing around and playing with it.  He sleeps with it by his bed, takes it in the car, up and down the stairs, etc...
