Thursday

A Refund

I ordered a textbook online and ended up having to return it. LONG story short, Amazon gave me a lot of trouble about the return, and I was stressed that I'd never see that $80 again. But I ended up talking to a very wonderful Amazon associate who helped me and got me my refund! It was deposited today, and I'm just so grateful.

Wednesday

Good Reports

Today we had parent teacher conferences with Kyrie and Asher's teachers. We are SO proud of these kids!! They both had excellent reports AND both got straight A's on their report cards!! A trip to Dairy Queen was definitely in order. It's always a blessing to be told by others that your children are doing well and are excelling.

A Textbook

I purchase my textbooks online, which saves me at least 50%. This semester, I had my very first issue with a textbook I purchased. After purchasing the book, I realized the student trial version of the software wasn't going to work. The seller wasn't very agreeable about refunding my money, so I started the process of requesting a refund from Amazon. I was really stressing out because I couldn't complete any of my assignments for this class without working software. So I emailed my professor and told him about what was going on. He told me he had a book I could borrow and to come down to his office and pick it up the following day. Not only did he loan me a brand new copy of the book and software to use, but he also said he wanted me to use it for the ENTIRE SEMESTER. I was just in total shock that he would do that for me, which will allow me to get a refund for this book and be able to pocket the money instead of having to buy a new book.

Sunday

A New Class

Since it's the first Sunday of the new year, that means all the little Primary kiddos moved up to new classes. It was kind of nerve-wracking for us as teachers because we were going from only having 3 kiddos in our class to having 10! But luckily today only half of the kids were there, so it should be hopefully an easier transition. Asher is now in our class, which has already proved to be interesting. ;) The kiddos were all really good and fun, and I know it'll be a great year!

Saturday

A Gas Station

Today we were driving home and realized our gas tank was on empty. Quite literally. We realized it because the car started lurching and spluttering like crazy. We were very lucky to be super close to a gas station, and we had just enough gas to inch our way there. It was funny and had us all laughing, but it really was a blessing, too. And now we've learned our lesson and will pay more attention to the gas gauge. :)

Thursday

A New Cord

My laptop cord busted a few weeks ago. Derk was able to rig it to work for a while, but we finally had to order a new one. It was barely past the one year warranty, which was slightly frustrating because that meant we had to pay for a new cord ourselves. But we ended up finding a website that offered a HUGE discount (only paid $17 for a cord that would have cost over $100 from Dell!), which was a blessing in and of itself. But today I am grateful because my new cord has finally arrived! I was worried that it wouldn't get here in time to start my classes, so I was so glad to see it in the mail this morning!

Saturday

Christmas 2010

Today was such a wonderful day! Kyrie woke up a bit early (4am!), but we were able to hold her off until 7 before she was way too excited to wait any longer. The kiddos were SO cute and sweet opening their gifts from each other! I absolutely LOVED seeing how excited they were as their siblings opened the gifts they picked out, and then the hugs of gratitude that followed were priceless. Bri was so funny and would stand in front of Kyrie or Asher with her hands wide open and would say, "I'm WAITING!" in this slightly bossy but still sweet tone. It was really funny. In the afternoon we were able to go over to a friend's house for dinner. It was so nice not having to be alone on Christmas, and we always have such fun with these friends when we hang out. Dinner was yummy, and by the end of the day we were completely wiped out! What a wonderful day. We are so very blessed.
