Father's Day

Better late than never.  For Father's Day this year we made Cinnamon Scones with Elderberry and Peach Preserves, Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, and Milk.  Simple but delicious.

The kids lined up with their gifts and then we filed into the bedroom singing "I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home."  Doug got his breakfast and his homemade gifts from the kids.

Wagstaff Baby

Wagstaff baby arrival!  Not really a headline I know, but it works.  Doug's work gave us a hat, onsie, and blanket with "Wagstaff baby" on them.  Here Peter is all decked out.

Elk Days

What is Elk Days?  Well it is a time to just have fun.  For as long I as I can remember there has been Elk Days.  There is a pancake feed at the firestation first thing followed by a parade and then lots of things to see and do the rest of the day.  Vendors come and set up booths with games and wares.  It's kinda like a miny fair.  I love it.  This year we just went to the parade, but even then we came home with a lot of candy.  Our little corner of road was pretty empty except for us so the kids got all the loot.

Waiting for the parade to begin

Peter really didn't participate much
More waiting

Our marching band.  Now I know it doesn't look like much but this is the first time any band members have marched in the parade and they played really well despite being small in number.

The firetruck

There were a couple of cool looking cars in the parade.  Here are two of them and no the pickup doesn't count. :)

The army

What a fun day.  Can't wait till next year.

All about Alexis

I think the title and this comic strip are self explanitory.

Goofy Kids

Cutie Pie Lexie.  Can't you just see her personality and impishness in this photo.  The timing was perfect.

He's grinning!  Peter smiles and laughs quite a bit.  He's fast though so catching a shot is hard but Doug managed it.

Doug made homemade spaghetti noodles for dinner a couple nights ago.  Lex and Evan liked playing with them.  They look like they have tusks.

Bug in my bed!

I love having Peter in the family, but he has developed an inconvenient habit.  He enjoys sleeping in our bed.  Not only sleeping, but tends to only fall asleep in our bed at night anyway.  He sure does look cute though.
All wrapped up and snuggly

Maybe it's the wide open space he loves

Where is summer?

Our poor neglected toys!
Spring decided to extend itself this year with cold wet weather.  Our toys were neglected for inside activities.  But wait is that sunshine I see?  Hurry out while it still shines.  And that is what we did.  This past week for a couple days at least we were able to go outside, not get drenched and just enjoy our toys again.

Even though summer is officially 2 days away, I think spring is going to linger a little longer.  I just hope the sun comes out occasionally and we warm up for the 4th of July weekend.

First Piano Recital

A mommy's opportunity to brag about her kids.
This past October Benjamin and Christopher started piano lessons.  Doug and I both feel that knowing how to play the piano is important and wish that we had either a) stuck with it (me) or b) started (him).  It is with these feelings that we are encouraging (or is it pushing?) our children to learn.  They don't have to be the next Mozart or anything just good enough to play at church and they are well on their way.  I can't believe how good Benjamin has gotten in such a short time and Christopher isn't bad either.  Other's can't believe how well they have done either.  Ahhh, to have gifted children.  :)
Here they are waiting for their turn

Friends

I love friends.  I love hanging out with them.  I love when our friend families can get together and meet after long spells of not seeing each other.  I wish all our friends would live near us and never move away.  I hate making friends only to have them leave and we only get to visit once in awhile or just over the internet.  I guess everyone needs to find their own place and my place may not be theirs.  Still I think it stinks when we part.  A couple weeks ago we got to visit with one such friend and her baby.  Unfortunately the rest of the family couldn't make it but we'll take what we can get.  Thanks Shania and Kimble for meeting up with us.

Thoughts on motherhood

The sleepless nights
The baby's cries
The poopy diapers
The spit upon clothes
I must ask myself: Why did I choose this?

The cooing smiles
The sweet baby smell
The snuggles
The love given freely
I have my answer.

These past three weeks have been a special time to bond with Peter.  Doug was able to stay home for two weeks and my sister Brin came for a week.  While they were here I was able to stay in my room with baby all day long if I wanted.  We could snuggle and sleep and just look into each other's eyes.  The sleepless nights didn't bother me because I was able to sleep when he did during the day.  Now, however, things have changed.  Reality has hit.  Doug is back to work and my sister must return to her life and husband.  I have to get up and be up with the other children whom I'm sure don't remember me I've been gone so long.  Sleepless nights are now catching up and it's time to loose the belly that didn't leave at birth.  Would I change my life and choices I have made?  Not for anything!  I love my husband and children so much.  I'm just glad that I was able to enjoy Peter for these past three weeks before I have to focus on other things.  I still love to steal those snuggle times though.
