School Tools vs Technology

Elizabeth was in an Opera. Each year Mrs. Johnson's 3rd grade class performs an opera. They do most of it themselves. They had to figure out what they wanted it to be about. Think of all the characters, make of the texts for the songs, then someone from the Utah Symphony came and put everything to music. Once that came back they all got their parts and started practicing, making costumes and decor and everything else that needed to be done. They worked on it for months and WOW I was amazed with the whole performance. They did an absolute fabulous job.

Elizabeth was one of the two books in the opera.

The end of the opera with all the kids and Elizabeth's teacher, Mrs. Johnson.

"The Books" and Mrs. Johnson

Jane and Marlynn came with us to watch Elizabeth and invited us over to have some ice cream after the opera. We had a bunch of happy kids. Bruce wasn't able to join us for the ice cream since he had to leave immediately after to go to Provo for a BYU basketball game with Leslie.

Elizabeth invited one of her friends to come along.

Visiting Janessa

The kids have been wanting to visit Janessa at BYU for a while now. They were very excited to see her dorm. We decided to visit her this week because Thomas' birthday would be on Friday and boys 6 and older are not allowed in the dorm rooms and since Thomas was this 5 this would be a great time.

They thought is was a great place. Thomas' favorites were: 1. The bathrooms 2. The loft by the stairways 3. The fact that there weren't any screens in the windows.
We love Janessa! She is great and the kids love being around her.

Valentine's Day 2014

We had fun making valentine's this year. Elizabeth made this adorable fish bowl with Swedish fish in it. Aunt Leslie gave her the idea and she took off. She did it almost all by herself. She was very pleased with the results and so was I since she was able to do it by herself.

She also had to make a valentine's box. This is something we've never had to do before so after looking at some ideas online, this is what we came up with. It was great because it wasn't time consuming at all. We just stuck the picture on a gift box that we had laying around from Christmas and voila, DONE.

Emilie did glow sticks. She was very excited but also insisted on getting one herself. So before they were handed out in class she told her teacher she wanted a pink one. Hahaha!

Thomas did erasers this year. We just took a picture with him holding out his hands and then glued a little eraser to it. I completely forgot to take a picture of the final product but you can get the idea ;)

Since this was the last class party for both of the kids this year I decided to help in both of their classes.

Parents and Pastries

You go to school read books and eat donuts with mom. What else could this child of mine wish for.
He LOVED it.
