The latest from Costa Rica!

Here are the latest pictures from Costa Rica!
Not sure if this is where Elder Whittaker lives or a street from the area that he lives in. Whatever it is, it gives us a visual for how primitive his area is. He told me in one of his last letters that he really misses carpet! That tells me alot!
This is Elder Whittaker's new companion....Elder Gonzales from Panama. He doesn't speak any English. This will definitely be a challenge for Logan, but one I know he will succeed at. I know that his spanish will improve so much and that the Lord will continue to bless him with the gift of tongues so that he can communicate better with his companion and with the people of Costa Rica.
This picture makes me a bit crazy! Yikes! That spider is huge!
This is a picture of Elder Whittakers 3rd baptism....Maria Elizabeth, which Logan was able to perform. We are so proud of all that he is doing!

Flag Football has begun!

Flag Football season has begun! Jensen arranged for all his buddies to play on the same flag football team this year and so far they are undefeated! and having a blast!
He enjoys playing so much, but enjoys playing or should I say winning with his friends.
He has scored and has intercepted. He usually hikes the ball to the quarterback, but cheers his friends on all of the time. They have played very well together and have enjoyed the WIN!!
Trying to get away from the opponent.
I think his buddy Devon was going to punt the ball after a touchdown! Go Nike Swoosh!!

Legacy Pumpkin Walk 2010

Every year Legacy Elementary has a "Values Walk". The students all decorate pumpkins with a theme and the community can walk through. They have concessions and carnival games as well and use it as a fundraiser. This is a great activity.
Easton's 2nd grade class with Mrs. Chipman show how to be good friends.
Easton is a good friend because he lets others play with him.

The biggest fan club I've ever seen for an 8 year old!

Easton had a football game at Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs. It was a beautiful day and he had the biggest and best fan club I've ever seen. Pop, Gege, Kyle, Shea, Mandy, Jensen, Boomer, Me, Todd, Annie, John and Cathy. It was a fun day! It is so great to have such supportive family. It totally made Easton's day! Her are some pictures from the game, and even though they had their first loss, it was still exciting and a lot funner than even the BYU games at this point.
The first pass that Easton's team has made. Not only was the pass complete, but Easton threw the pass for a 15-20 yard gain. It was kind of wobbly, but it worked!
Easton is the ball carrier. We can always find him because he is the only one with white on his cleats.
Same play as the previous picture, but he breaks away on a 35-40 yard run to position his team for the touchdown!
Here he goes pulling away from the opposing teams player that was trying to catch him. We can't quite figure out where he gets his speed from.
And he's gone.......
Different running play. At the end of the run Easton tried to juke the guy to score, but he was pushed out of bounds.
Easton is in the center of the pack, to score a 2 point PAT.
Here he is to score....2 pt PAT
And this is the headplant and who knows what....but I can say he is quite limber!
#41....the ball carrier for the Cavemen! Thanks for giving your fan club somewhere to go and someone to cheer for. Easton told his dad after a practice last week....."I LOVE Football Dad!"

25 Years of Wedded Bliss!

Twenty Five Years ago today, I married my sweetheart. When you get married, I think we think that we could never love that person more than you do the day you marry them. This statement is false. Every day my heart grows stronger and my love grows deeper for the man I chose to marry so many years ago today. We have been through alot, but through the tears, the joy, the stress, the frustrations, and above all the happiness, I couldn't ever imagine myself with anyone else. He completes me and makes me want to be a better person. He is sensitive to me and my needs, puts up with alot, he respects me and demands that my kids do the same, he makes me laugh, gives me the confidence I need to endure, and the strength to know that I can do anything. He honors his priesthood, fulfills his callings, supports our family financially, and physically. I know that I come first and so do our children. Boomer I love you with all my heart, and look forward to 25+ more years with you!!

For our anniversary, we spent the night and next day in Park City where we went for part of our honeymoon!
We decided to act like the kids, and try to take our own picture together. After a few tries, we decided that it wouldn't get much better than this!
We stayed at the Yarrow hotel in downtown Park City.
This is the Landmark Best Western where we stayed 25 years ago.
We went to the Park City Outlets
Drove through Olympic Park where the Olympians train and where the 2002 Olympics were held.
Boomer keeps telling me that he would love to try the ski jumps, I think he should.
We went to Main Street in Park City. We love the homes that surround Main Street, they are so quaint and charming.
We ate at the Baja Cantina, where we ate on our Honeymoon. We had a great time and appreciate that our kids are old enough to help us out with the younger boys!

Do you remember where you were and what you were doing?

Today as we noticed all the flags blowing in the wind and Boomer remembered that today is a day we should definitely fly our flag from the flag pole, we reminised about where we were when the towers fell and the feelings that we had as we watched the TV all day long to see what was happening in New York City. I remember that I was in my pajamas driving the kids to Junior High when I heard on the radio that the first tower had fallen. I remembered being so very anxious to get home and turn on the TV to find out exactly "What the Crap was happening!" I remember feeling that it was so surreal and that it couldn't possibly be our reality. I spent the entire day glued to the television broadcasts watching and crying as America viewed what was truly happening in NYC. I am truly proud to be an american, and am truly grateful for those that protect our home of the brave. The events of 9/11 are as clear in my mind as if it were yesterday and it amazes me that it was 9 years ago that those events occurred that changed our lives forever!

Cavemen beat Lone Peak! Yeah!!!!

Watch #41...."The ball carrier is #41, Easton Whittaker, playing for the Cavemen!" We are having such a great time watching Easton play football this year. I thought that I would share a few videos with you, so you could share in the fun! The Cavemen beat the Knights 20-13! Go Cavemen!!

Labor Day

On Labor Day, traditionally we go out on the boat as a last hurrah for the summer. This year the weather didn't actually cooperate very well.(which has been the case alot this year) So we decided that instead we would do something else. We went to J-Dawgs for dinner, which if you love hot dogs, you will love J-Dawgs!) and went minature golfing!
The family.....love them all
Boomer got a hole in one on this hole, but it was so good that the house ate his ball. Kyle and Easton were trying to figure out a way to get it back. Easton tried a bit too hard, and the window fell off. His face was priceless when he thought he had ruined it.
Kyle convinced E to go into the house and get the ball back. Which also helped the next group, because they lost their ball in the house too. Easton found quite a few balls in there that were stuck. It pays to be little.
Love the glasses! Jordyn thinks it would be soooo funny if he wore them for school pictures. I on the other hand, do not!
Yes, I too got a hole in one! Hahaha!
Three beauties! Mandy, Shea and Jordy, I love them! Mandy has been away at school, so we were thrilled that she decided to join us!
Shea and Kyle
Jensen....the scorekeeper! He's tallying the scores. Boomer was the winner with Jensen, a close second.
It was a fun day, and makes me realize how blessed we are with the children that we were blessed with. We do have alot of fun together~!

Tagg your IT!

Tagg, our dog of 12 years, left this earthly life today at about 1pm. He wasn't doing very good last night and we thought we were going to have to put him down very soon. He did have a surge of energy last night and ate and drank lots of water (a sign that his kidney's were starting to shut down). He did fair through the night, but we could tell in his eyes that his time was short. Boomer was mowing the lawn and Tagg snuck out of the side gate and ran into the front yard (which was his favorite place to be). He ran up the yard to find Boomer and pretty much collapsed, not being able to get much air. It was only a few minutes and he was gone. Boomer thinks that he knew his time was short, and that he didn't want to be alone, so he ran into the front yard to be with Boom and to be where he loved to run, from tree to tree. He is definitely in a better place, and is definitely doing the things that he loves to do. We knew that Tagg would wait for Logan to leave on his mission because he wanted to spare Log the grief and saddness he would have had, had Logan been here. We have great memories of him and we loved him and know that he loved us too.
Tagg loved it when you would throw the ball for him to fetch it back. We taught him to sit while he waited for you to throw the ball. He would play for hours, or until you had had enough of throwing the ball. When we would mow the lawn, and he wanted to play ball, he would drop the ball right where you were going to mow so that you had to stop mowing and throw the ball.
He loved running in the front yard and would run to every tree, so he could leave his mark that this was his territory. Many times he would run away and would run the neighborhood. The first time we thought that he was gone for good, and 2 days later he returned, so very exhausted. The other 2 times, we found him at the pound. So $100 later every time he was at the pound, we would bring him home. This last time, I threatened him with his life that if he ran off again and got taken to the pound, that I would leave him there. He stayed pretty close to home after that.
Tagg loved the snow. He loved playing in it with the boys. They would throw snowballs for him to fetch, and the funny thing was that he could see them throw the ball, but was so confused when he couldn't find them to bring them back.
He enjoyed watching people and dogs through the gate. The neighbor dog would always come to the gate as it was going on a walk with its owner. It was a very small Shiz Tsu, and thought it was extremely tough when the gate was between them, Tagg got bored with it after a while and would go back to the back yard before the other dog was finished.
About a year ago, Tagg's brother Nick, came to live with us. We were nervous about them being in the same back yard. So, Nick was in the kennel and Tagg roamed the back yard. After about 2-3 weeks, I was in the back yard and had opened the gate to the kennel to pick some peaches that I couldn't reach. My arms were full of peaches and I had full intentions of coming back out and closing the gate. I forgot however, and when Boomer came home from work, he noticed that both dogs were in the back yard and were very happy and very content. From then on, they were in the back together, and I even think they liked it.
Boomer loved taking Tagg with he and the kids as they went Trick or Treating in the neighborhood. Last year Jordy even bought him his own costume....a hot dog!
Tagg loved to lay in the sun! We found him out in the yard alot, laying on his back enjoying the sun's warmth. He also loved to squirm on his back, like he was scratching an itch.
We love you Tagg and are grateful for all the memories that we have of you! Thanks for your patience with us as dog owners, and hopefully on the other side you will still want to spend your eternal life with us!
