All Smiles

So some of you probably noticed I had posted a venting blog about Emma Cate's sleeping challenges...and then deleted it a few hours later! I realized it was probably way too much info and really was just therapy for me to get it all out. I realize she is only 5 weeks old and she will eventually be able to nap during the day by herself for longer than 30 minutes (she's sleeping several hours at a time at night thankfully!). There are times though that I want to throw the Babywise book out the window and just let her sleep in her swing for every nap! We are going to keep trying though :)

Here are a few recent pictures of her smiling. She smiles a lot bigger, but I have to put the camera down for her to see my face and smile back at me and then by the time I pull the camera up to take the picture, the smile isn't quite as big...still working on that!

When my mom was here last weekend, she wanted to see her in a bonnet...Emma Cate didn't like that at all! Maybe when she is a little older!

Daddy had both our babies in his lap while he watched basketball on Sunday afternoon!

Jake is loving his little sister :) He does get a little jealous though that she gets held all the time...so he just tries to get in our laps too! Yesterday I was letting Emma Cate fuss a little in her crib while she was trying to go down for her nap. I was listening to her fussing on the monitor when I heard an unusual cry. I went to her room to check on it since it didn't sound like her normal cry and I found Jake in her room sitting in front of her crib on the floor looking up at the crib whining! He hates for her to cry! It was almost like he was trying to get my attention to let me know she was unhappy!

Wish List

First blog post that isn't directly about Emma Cate!

I am still not back to my pre-pregnancy weight...sigh...but I'm getting there and haven't been able to resist looking at normal clothes again! Here are a few from JCrew's sale that I've got my eye on...hoping they will run an extra 20% off soon!

There is just something about these little tops with the ruffles and flowers on them...so feminine and sweet.

And I'm looking at this one piece for the summer. I'm thinking a one piece will be practical with a 4 month old tugging on me, but also I can't imagine putting on a bikini any time soon! This one comes with removable straps so I could still lay out without getting lines (hopefully that will be possible with lots of other family wanting to play with her too...I need a tan desperately...and just some vitamin D in general...I can count the number of times I've been outside in the last month for more than 5 minutes on one hand!)

My little angel is waking up so that's all for now...I'm working on a post about my favorite things from pregnancy and now from the first few weeks with an infant...hope to post soon, but it seems like every time I sit down to blog or check my email, either Emma Cate starts crying or Jake starts whining...I swear I feel like I have two newborn babies!

1 Month

Friday, Emma Cate was 1 month old! It is amazing that it has already been a whole month. She has changed so much in just these 4 weeks. She is smiling alot now and interacting with us all the time.

We had to go back to the pediatrician on Friday because she has a bad case of dermatitis all over her face and neck. It doesn't seem to bother her though :)

And she likes the dryer...it helps when she is fussy!

Phil and I left her with Big Daddy and Nina (Phil's parents) Saturday night for a few hours and had a dinner date in Tuscaloosa. It was nice to get out for a little while!

Time to get a quick nap in before it's time for her to eat again tonight!

Bath Time

Emma Cate isn't so sure about baths right now.
She loves being wrapped up in her bunny towel though!

And loves when Daddy holds her.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend With Ali

My sweet sister came to visit us from Maryland and we so enjoyed having her here! She brought her this cute outfit from Baby Gap and spent the weekend holding Emma Cate. Jake wanted attention from Ali too so while she held Emma Cate during her nap, Jake decided to take a nap with them! He has been so good with her, but don't worry, we are not letting our guard down or taking any chances.

Ali, we loved having you! Please come back to visit soon! We miss you already!

Two Weeks

It's hard to believe Emma Cate is two weeks old today! The time has flown by and she is growing and changing every day! The days are still a blur as we are trying to get on a good schedule, but she is so sweet! We are loving every minute.
