The last month has been filled to overflowing with laughter, friends, and community. Our home is opened three times a week for various groups. It does keep me on my toes in the cleaning department but I would not trade the moments of fellowship for a thousand hours of housekeeping.
I grew up in a place where there was a deep sense of community. Both my church and being a part of camp provied unending opportunities for laughter, friendship, and the reality of true biblical fellowship. It was not perfect. It was not all the time. But it was there; times where hearts were opened and burdens were shared.
I find myself truly blessed to be able to have a home that I can open up for others to come to. I saw that example over and over in my parents lives and find such joy in carrying on a tradition of hospitality. My home is not fancy. I hope instead it is a place where people can kick off their shoes, put their feet up, relax, and enjoy themselves. That is important to me.
I pray my home will be filled with people, with laughter, with friends, with community.
