I don't understand

Why young children nowadays have Facebook.

To think of it, it's rather pointless isn't it? Personally, I had decided to create a Facebook account because it is deemed better than Friendster. I doubt if those kids know what Facebook is all about. Apart from playing Cafe World, Word Challenge, Farmville etc., they don't actually have a concrete reason to have a Facebook account, do they?

Facebook is a Social Networking site, for goodness' sake. Not a place for young kids to play games. The worst part is that their parents are actually proud to tell everyone that "Hey, my kid has a Facebook account, too!" Come on, what's the point? Kids don't post notes, they don't write on people's walls, they don't wish nobody 'Happy Birthday' (which, in my opinion, is pretty useful. I mean the birthday reminders.) It's rather annoying, really. Do they have old, long lost friends to keep in touch with?

Looking at the increasing count of children under 12 playing Facebook really annoys me to bits.

Books I read

Angelin has been pestering me to update my blog, so here I am. I’m not sure what to talk about though. My life has been, well I can say mundane, in a way. It’s quite routine, to say the least. With the major exams over and done with, I finally can have a peace of mind to settle down and read some really good novels.

Ms. Nanda, my SAT math lecturer is an avid reader. She loves books and will not hesitate to introduce us some whenever we ask. So far, I’ve read 2 and one half of the books she had recommended. The half being Kite Runner, which I conveniently abandoned. No worries, I’ll get back to it sooner, if Ridhwan does not need it back yet.

One of the good books I’ve read so far is The Kitchen God’s Wife by Amy Tan. I’m not sure if guys will like it because it tells a tale about a Chinese women who survived a bad marriage during the revolutionary war. The whole story is structured in a way that we readers are regarded as the narrator’s daughter, whom she recount her story to. I really enjoyed it. Whoever wants it, you can borrow from me!

The next good book is Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger. I bought this book online from Kinokuniya. So far, I couldn’t find an adjective to describe this book. I enjoyed it. Maybe it’s because of the bold style utilized by the author, coupled with the abusive usage of words like goddam and hell; anyhow, the book never ceased to entertain me. It’s a good read, not a very draggy one, and it’s not a long story either.

Next, not recommended by Ms. Nanda, though, is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I’m sure many of you have read, or at least heard about this book. I’m not going to write a book review here, but if you are interested, you can Google it or you can borrow the book from me.

I’m currently reading Women of the Silk by Gail Sukiyama. No one recommended me this; I googled it and was quite interested so I purchased it online. It’s quite pricey though. I’m really into Asian Literature lately, especially authors like Amy Tan, Adeline Yen Mah and Haruki Murakami.
