Week in Pictures-August 21-27

Who wants to make a funny caption for this one? The possibilities are endless.
Getting coffee and treats downtown with Grama
Prepared for Irene-just in case. When we bought these it was on the first day she became a hurricane, and the forecast was for it to hit us. I didn't want to chance people going buzurko and buying all the water... especially when we have two babies who are formula fed.
Maya made monster shirts! I ironed on the body and she picked out the parts that she wanted and placed them where she wanted them to go.
The ones she did for the babies are a little more on the artistic side-I think she did a good job as these were just leftovers from the kit.
Grama here means food. Yum-homemade donuts!
And FRIED CHEERIOS! Mmmm.
The little burritos. Bought swaddlers in hopes that we'd get a little more sleep at night. Nope.
Speaking of sleep at night-this is when we were not getting any, obviously. At least they're cute. This is Ava during a feed and I think she looks a ton like baby me here, if you can see her.
A lot of mornings we watch PBS Kids while things get moving. Patrick loves it apparently.
All three kids have colds. Insert even more guilt about nursing just plain not working here. Ava just looks so pathetic :(
Very fortunately, this is all we got of Irene, the outskirts of it. We had a few wind gusts-not even bad enough to justify putting our patio table umbrella away-and a tiny bit of rain and that's it.
Ava's pretty much winning at the "holding head up". He likes tummy time a little more, but she's better at it. Go figure. Though he's content just lying there most of the time...
(His hair looks blonde here-it's not, it's just a lighter brown and super thin right now, a lot fell out from the top but is growing back in already.)
Cloth booties! Breaking out the stash to use pretty soon.
One of Maya's games lately is to act like a turtle... with pretty much anything and everything. The other day her "shell" was with one of her little play cooking dishes, and tonight it was with the Bumbo.
They're both starting to get smile-y! She does moreso in her sleep but he'll flash me some big ones. This one I caught on the way back down but he has a HUGE smile!

Week in Pictures-August 14-20

I'm attempting to blog more and hopefully this will be a way to do so! (And a way to remind me to take more pictures... while I was pregnant I hardly left the couch-that was the most physically draining 9 months of my life-and now the days go by so fast, they are commanded by feedings and washing/making more bottles!)

Their first trip to church! They didn't see many people though because I had nursery duty and they were with me while Patrick and Maya were at a homecoming.
Maya's first real "intentional" drawing! She's drawn things before that look like letters (that she can identify) or objects but she drew this ladybug over and over.
6 weeks old!
Maya choosing to accessorize out of her dress-up box on our way to the airport to pick up Grama
Snuggles with my handsome man
Ava has colic. These four things have become our best friends (technically there are five-each baby has their own Simethicone drops). Note in the background-our massive pile of cayenne peppers Patrick has been growing (TONS more on the plant-we'll end up with quite the stash!) and the lack of coffee in the canister, a testament to how much we've been drinking lately.

Maya's Butterflies

When the babies were born, they "brought Maya a present"... we didn't want it to be just some other toy (because heaven knows she doesn't need even ONE more) so we got her one of those butterfly kits. She loved it-we let them go last night!
Flying away!
This one had an injury. Thankfully Maya didn't realize he couldn't fly. We put him on the patio table and went inside so she could watch him hanging out on the table-then when she went to bed Patrick made sure he "flew away" before morning.
She was trying to get him to fly, bless her heart... I'm so glad she didn't accidentally kill it right there!

One Month Old!

We had babies!

I'm not even going to try and catch up on the past few months of life. Basically (until July 6 anyway) the only thing to happen since Easter anyway was me getting even more massively pregnant.

If anyone missed it, we had twins! This is the baby blog and here is the birth story. Here are pictures from my last few days pregnant and their first pictures.

Since then they've turned a month old, we've settled into a bit of a routine, Maya is adjusting, and Patrick is back to work. They are awesome babies and we're loving this! (And the two of them, I honestly feel, even together, are easier than Maya was!)

They sleep the same way. Always.
First bath
...not impressedI took this picture of Patrick Jr (on the right, obviously) and later realized it looks exactly like this one of Patrick (daddy Patrick) that we had somewhere. They look so alike... and sit the same way!
Last weekend after getting their newborn pictures done in Myrtle Beach (thanks again Jena for coming down and thank you Lauren for letting us use your beautiful house!) we went to Ripley's Aquarium. Maya loved it, and the double stroller took its maiden voyage!
Maya continues to be ridiculous as always...

:)
