Briley vs. Lawson Christmas @ 2.5 Years

Briley: Loved Santa, got mad on Christmas morning b/c "Ho Ho ate his cookies", favorite present was his train table

Lawson: Loved Santa, thought his elf Zicked ate the cookies, favorite present was his Cars scooter

I love how both boys have their night nights in their picture :)

Look Alikes

I have never seen a huge resemblance between both boys until now. I can't believe how much they look alike in this picture.

Dance Party at the Payne House

I have to get a video posted because this is hysterical!

Christmas Day

After the excitement of opening their presents, I got ready for our traditional Christmas breakfast. As soon as Nick and I were married, we started a tradition of me making a big Christmas breakfast. I love cooking, but I'm not a morning person, so breakfast is kind of a big deal. Everything has to be an easy overnight kinda thing, so that I can just stick it in the oven in the morning. I've always wanted to have THE traditional meal that everyone was excited for. However, I just hadn't found THE recipe yet. Until... now, thanks to the the Pioneer Woman. I've been eyeing the recipe for her cinnamon rolls for forever, but they just looked like too much work. This year I got brave and made them. They actually weren't that bad, and everyone LOVED them. As soon as they came out of the oven, I knew I had found THE recipe! So, here's our newest tradition - Pioneer Woman's - now Mommy's Cinnamon Rolls. We had enough for 3 breakfasts and one dessert, and B told me that I was "the best roll cooker ever". Now that, my friend, is the best compliment ever!

Here's the yummy meal that we ate as we celebrated Jesus' Birthday.
Photobucket
After breakfast, they were ready to go outside and try their new scooters.
Photobucket
We took a break swinging, where Lawson made the cheesiest face ever, and B showed off his jumping skills.
Photobucket
We spent the rest of the day home, opening and playing with new toys.
The love for Buzz is intense.
Photobucket
And the love for Skylanders, even more so.

Christmas Morning

Santa came!
Photobucket
This year B had "Smoofy" paper and L had "Buzz, and Jesse, and Hoody". Briley woke up and peeked at the tree, went back upstairs, came back down, checked out his stocking, and then came to wake us up.
Lawson was right behind him and was so excited about his Lightning McQueen scooter that he took right off on it!
Photobucket
Then, they dug into their stockings.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Daddy was a little confused about the strange objects in his stocking. (or he pretended to be b/c he guessed that he was getting a brew beering kit.)
Photobucket
Present time!
Photobucket
Some big hits were:
Buzz
Photobucket
Mario Kart Kinex
Photobucket
Skylanders
Photobucket
and "two batmans" toys.
Photobucket
They both also got new boots from Mommy and Daddy.
Photobucket
It was a fun morning for everyone, and according the B, "the best Christmas EVER!"

Christmas Eve

When we were in Memphis, we spent Christmas Eve with our family. So when we moved to Nashville, we wanted to have lots of traditions that kept us busy to keep the day special. I love Christmas Eve almost more than Christmas Day. You can feel the excitement all day long.

We started off the day with the boys opening a present from each other. We started this tradition last year so that they could have an early present to open. They each pick out a present for each other and help me wrap it. Lawson got a dinosaur and B got a Mario robe.

Next we headed to church. We have finally found a church that reminds us of Hope in Memphis. It's still different, we're still getting used to a new church, but in all we're really liking it. Briley joined us for the candlelight service this year, and we loved it. He sang every song very loudly even though he had no idea what the words were :) It got quite a few grins. Of course I forgot to take their picture in their Christmas outfits again. The only one I have is a blurry one of L man and me.
Photobucket

When we came home, we baked some cookies, and I made cinnamon rolls. Last year we went out to eat, but this year we decided to grill out steaks at home. After dinner, we headed out to leave apples for the reindeer (Mommy ran out of carrots) and sprinkle our reindeer food.
Photobucket
We set out cookies and chocolate milk for Santa. Lawson was finally awake to participate this year!
Photobucket
We took baths,
Photobucket
Put the cookies and milk by the fireplace,

and were tucked in and asleep at 8pm.

Ice Ice Baby

We started off our Christmas week at home by going to Ice at the Opryland Hotel. The theme was Merry Madigascar this year, which was fun. But it is beyond freezing! The kids basically ran through the whole thing just to get to the slides. I think next year, they should just make an ice playground :) They would be game for that!

Merry Christmas!

I didn't order nearly enough cards this year. So I thought I'd share our card on the blog. Merry Christmas!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

You wouldn't believe it, but last night I had full cooperation from the boys to get this picture. We got in our pjs, I told the boys to sit by the tree and put their arms around each other, and they did it! They really did it! They sat there for 30 whole seconds just laughing and giggling. It didn't last long, but that's all I needed.
Photobucket
Then I told them to lay on their tummies and look at the tree, and they did that too!
Photobucket
They even turned around and showed me their adorable grinning faces. I was caught so off guard that the stinkin thing is out of focus, but it's still cute :)

You know me

If you keep up with my blog, you know that I have a whole crew of people that I don't know that I pray for. Somehow I come across their story, my heart breaks for them, and I pray, pray, pray. I just found out about this local family in Nashville. The mom found out that she had stage 3 cancer after the birth of her daughter - last week. During the season when everyone is treasuring time with their families, she has had to leave her one week old baby girl and recover from surgery in the hospital. They are in for a huge fight, but you can tell from their blog that they are amazing people and are trying their best to stay positive. So if you can, send some prayers their way. Here's their blog.

4 Christmases

We went to Memphis last weekend for our family Christmases. 4 in one weekend. It's crazy, nonstop, and so much fun.

We started off Friday night at Papaw and Mamaw's house. Briley came home from school with a fever that day and wasn't feeling himself. He asked to go to bed before he even opened presents, and we talked him into laying on the couch. He brightened up when he opened his Wii game though. Aunt Heather is preggers with a little cousin and niece/nephew for us. I can't wait for another baby in the family! And - don't you just love that pic of Papaw??? It's a framer for sure.
Photobucket
Ok, next we woke up Saturday morning and headed to G Payne's for lunch. The boys got adorable suitcases, which will come in very handy soon!
Photobucket
Next on our list was GG's house that night for our traditional lasagna dinner. Nick is obsessed with his Grandma's lasagna, and she is sweet enough to send us frozen ones every now and then.
Photobucket
After GG's, we headed home to Mimi's house to crash. The boys woke up bright and early for Christmas that morning. The marble tower and Transformer playset were big hits.
Photobucket
There are so many things that we have to be thankful for this year, and even though we don't get to see everyone as often as we used to, it is so nice to get to sleep over at each of the grandparents' houses. We have the most amazing family ever. The boys are so very loved by all of their grandparents, great grandma's, and aunts. I am a lucky girl to call them my family. Love you guys and thanks for a wonderful weekend!

B's Christmas Party

Lawson and I went to help out with B's Christmas Party. I was in charge of organizing the games, so we played Santa's Hat (like hot potato but with Santa's hat) and Rudolph Relay (the kids had a relay wearing a red circle on their nose like Rudolph and had to crawl on all 4's). B's teachers even made a spot for Lawson, which was so sweet. He loves being included with the big kids.

Miss Wisa

Miss Wisa (Lisa) has been Lawson's MDO teacher since we moved last year. Amazing is an understatement. I have her to thank for helping the little man break from his separation anxiety. Everyday he wakes up and wants to go to school to see Miss Wisa. We all love her. Lawson was just a little bit excited to open her gift.

Don't kill me, I had to do it

Because one day those little feet and short legs will be able to touch the floor, and I want to remember as much as I can.

Gingerbread Houses

Last week, we made graham cracker gingerbread houses. We've spent years buying the premade things, and I totally forgot about graham crackers. So we were thrifty this year, graham crackers, frosting, and left over Halloween candy.
Photobucket
It kept the boys busy for quite a while. Well, B was busy. L just licked the frosting and ate the crackers. Here's the final product, it may not be artwork to some, but they were quiet proud.
Photobucket
We also attempted a train, requested by B. This is about as far as we got before it was eaten.

Going Home

We stopped by the Christmas Village on our way home. I thought it was pretty cool. I was later informed that it was a "chick" place, but I guess our boys are chicks b/c they liked it too. We got to see Santa for our official Santa picture. For the 2nd year in a row we went to Santa without our Christmas outfits on. Next year, I think I'm just not going to do my coordinating Christmas clothes, b/c I never seem to get them in them anyway! Anyway, Santa was great! Lawson was beyond thrilled to see "Ho Ho Merry Christmas" and B requested one toy, Skylanders.

Day 2

Day 2 started out at the Log Cabin Pancake House across the street from our hotel. Oh. my. goodness. We heard that the French Toast Royale was "famous", so I had to try it. Best breakfast ever. We went back so that I could have it again the next morning.
Photobucket
After that, we headed straight to the Sky Lift. B and L had been asking about it since we arrived, so it was the thing to do.
Photobucket
Nick and I rode this forever ago when we went to Gatlinburg when we were engaged. It was the last time we'd been there.
Photobucket
So we get on the lift, B is with Nick and L is with me. As soon as we start going up, my hands start dripping sweat, my heart starts pounding, and I can't get the vision of Lawson falling off out of my head. I am so not afraid of heights, but going all the way up that mountain with my little bit made me a nervous wreck. I'm surprised I didn't kiss the ground when we got to the top. Needless to say, Nick went down with Lawson.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Next, we did lots of walking, shopping, and candy tasting.
Photobucket
We even ran into Santa!
Photobucket
Lawson was exhausted, so we headed back to take a nap while daddy and B went to the arcade. I changed up the cheesy beach/foot picture and replaced it with a fuzzy sock/fireplace pic. Nick and B came back, and Nick crashed while the Energizer Bunny played Angry Birds.
Photobucket
Lawson was missing his "cuppy", so we had to get a much needed milk fix.
Photobucket
Beyond breakfast, we weren't too in love with any of the places we had tried so far, so we went with a safe bet, Mellow Mushroom.
Photobucket
Lawson was obsessed with the mushroom costume. We had to chase it around the restaurant just for a hug. Then we literally squealed to the entire restaurant that he hugged the mushroom. Crazy kid.
