We've been pretty boring...

I really don't have much to blog about- we've been pretty boring.  Playing in the tub is about as exciting as it has gotten around here!
I  think Tianna might be too old for tub pictures-- so I cropped it as closely as I could because I loved this picture! Adelia has the best smile I've captured on camera for a long long time. And I love how symmetrical their poses are.  *another good reason for the cropping is to not show all of Tianna's ribs sticking out of her back. I promise, we do feed her

This picture is very depicting of my days with Adelia around. When she's not dumping entire cup-fulls of water onto the floor, or wiping her food on our sleeves during meal times, or throwing her food around for that matter, or dumping her toys as fast as she can, she's applying my makeup on herself. This time it's mascara. She is a complete hand full!  Good thing she's silly and cute and we love her so much!
Reminds me this picture of Tianna from when she was the same age. (2008) Sometimes they are so similar it feels like we're living a re-run of Tianna's life as a toddler.

For an update on us: (and how we've been doing on our New Years Goals.

As you  know, I made quite the list of goals for this year... so far, I'm doing pretty well. The most important goal I've been meeting is to be better about STUDYING my scriptures. Amazingly as I've worked on this goal it has made keeping all my other goals so much easier. I'm automatically nicer and more patient, and it has given me a daily boost. I keep the house cleaner, I am happier, and life just seems generally better! I have always heard this from people, but never before have I seen such an obvious difference to me personally.  I even dusted off the treadmill and used it a few times last week now that my lungs are feeling better. But more importantly, I feel closer to God than I have in a long while. I will definitely be keeping up with this particular goal.

Luke is accomplishing a lot too! So far his classes have been pretty low-key but they are now staring to pick up. He has written 2 of the 6 chapters in his thesis *wooo!* and seems pretty positive about it.  He's been working with his Sunday School presidency and has been putting together lessons and teacher improvement classes too.  He's applied to quite a few jobs on line and has an interview set up for one of them. We just keep trusting that when the right job opens up, it will work out. ... patience is hard though. We know he still have 4 months of school left, but it would be nice to know where we're going after that.

Like I said, Adelia is keeping us all on our toes. She is turning into a little talker! And a baby lover. Tonight she went to bed with 6 baby dolls. When it's not her babies, it's the little mom and dad from her loving family doll house that she carries around all day. I get so confused when she's crying out "Mama, Mama" and I reach out for her and she pushes my hands away. She's really looking for the Mama doll. Not me.  These 2 pictures remind me of each other. The first is Adelia and the 2nd one is Tianna from Christmas 2007 when she got the doll house. They even have the same hair style!
Anyway, she's so sweet and so funny and VERY lively. She too has been doing well with her goal. Or really, our goal FOR her, of being binky-free by the end of January. She still cries at bedtime and naptime for awhile, but she does fall asleep after awhile and the best part is, she's not begging for it every time we get in the car or throughout the day. That is a nice change. But I must say, we really  miss the days of her being glad to be in bed since it meant BINKY-TIME.

Tianna is doing so well in school. She made the goal of passing off a level each week in school and so far this month has accomplished that. She's reading small words like "to, in, my, ear, knee" and loves loves LOOOOVES school-absolutely everything about it.
She also made a goal of earning more gems (her reward system) instead of losing them. She has been doing really great and even got to pick out a prize at the Dollar Store today from earning 20 gems. We're so proud of her. She really is such a good girl- we are sometimes too hard on her, but that's only because she's so mature.

Also, speaking of Tianna- her knee is still completely fine! She doesn't have any pain and isn't limping anymore. Her muscle is growing back in her thigh and we are so very happy. We go on the 3rd of Feb to Primary's and then we'll have more information on the lab work they performed the day of her knee injection.

Birthday time!

This is the first time ever I wasn't totally excited about my birthday. I didn't want to turn 26 (25 has always seemed like the perfect age!) But I have warmed up to the idea-- plus a whole weekend of getting SPOILED helped!

Friday I got me hair done-- YAY! and came home to these beautiful flowers from my hubby and kiddos.
Saturday morning we went to the mall and Luke bought be a new outfit! Featured here:
We then went out to the Hardware Ranch up Blacksmith Fork Canyon. We've been talking about going since our first winter up here but just missed the opportunity every time.  It was SO worth it!
A MOOSE for our nephew MOOSE! :)
BULL FEVER! (for a hunter, not so much for me. i just think it's neat!)
There were 524 elk at the reserve today.  There can be up to 700 later in the season
Notice how the ears are back on these 2 cows-- I just missed the shot where they were standing on their hind legs "boxing" It was awesome!
When we returned from our adventure seeing the "Eelk", or "Silk" as Tianna kept saying, Luke and I and our friends, Stacy and Luke, went out to dinner. It was delish!

Sunday morning we had a nice slow morning since church is now at 1:00.  Luke made a yummy french toast breakfast and that night we had some neighbor friends over for cake and to play a game.  I got tons of phone calls, texts, and face book messages from friends and family wishing me happy birthday. Thanks everyone! It made  a perfect day even better!

Among the greatness of the day, I FINALLY got a decent picture of both girls in their matchy church dresses, which was a gift all in itself! Two other "gifts" I received was a husband who didn't have to start school until the day after my bday= no homework all weekend, and a husband who was sweet enough shave off his beard for me! :) Oh and did I mention he baked me a cake too?
I love you Luke! You are so good to me!
A special thanks to my sweet girls who gave me the gift of lots of smiles and loves all the day long.
How could someone so blessed not want to celebrate anther year?

Change. My theme for 2011

An interesting thing about having a bday in early January. Not only do I make goals for whatever year it is, I can make goals for my year of life at the same time. In this case, my 26th year-- a year of positive changes!

We hope that in a few months our lives change dramatically. After what is most likely his worst semester yet, Luke will graduate with his Masters degree from USU.
That not only means NO MORE SCHOOL! (YIPPEEEEEEEEEEE)! but it also means finding a new (career) job, finding a new home, selling our current house, moving..... and lots and lots of other changes. We're ready! We've been doing the student thing for more than 6 years--It's time for these changes to take place!

Obviously, thise are some MAJOR changes... which include some monstrous goals (ie. writing thesis, home improvement projects etc) but there are other minor personal changes I'd like to make.
In thinking of my large list, I decided the best way to do that was to categorize them, then rate them in order of "Good, Better, and Best" as directed by Pres. Oaks a few years ago.

So here are some things I've already started working on:

GOOD- Do something dramatic with my hair..........So I became a brunette!  Wow. it looks really red in that picture, but it's more brown when I'm not standing under a light bulb.
BETTER- Begin the year with a fully organized house. I went crazy last week and reorganized just about every closet, drawer, and cupboard. It feels so nice!
BEST- Keep it that way! It will make showing the house to prospective buyers much easier.

PARENTING GOALS:
GOOD- Plan ahead, and leave more time so when Tianna doddles I don't get so frustrated with her
BETTER- Spend more time playing with my kids-- don't use the phrase "We'll do it later" so much.
BEST- Use kinder language and tone with my children so that they will  remember their mother as being nice to them. This one is very hard sometimes. ..Even with cuties like these!
Adelia got into Daddy's tools-- she is a bit less girlie girl than her older sister... who insisted I take a picture of her in a Hawaiian outfit.

SPIRITUAL GOALS
GOOD-Plan primary songs out 2 months at a time.. or for the entire year would be best!
BETTER- Go visiting teaching earlier each month
BEST- Reserve a time each day to study my scriptures
BEST- Attend the temple once a month
BEST- Have FHE EVERY week

PHYSICAL goals:
GOOD-Utilize the treadmill upstairs. 1/2 marathon in July? (maybe it's an unrealistic goal, but we'll see!)
BETTER-Floss more often
BEST-Go to bed by 11:30--doesn't sound "early" but it's an improvement

JUST random STUFF:
GOOD-Not just make cards, but SEND them out!
GOOD-File the mail pile more often: weekly would be nice, monthly is more practical
GOOD- Figure out a better system for receipts-- SUGGESTIONS welcome!
BETTER- Eat out less
BETTER- Spend less time on the computer
BETTER- Be on time for things
BEST- Be a better listener, give my opinion less
BEST-  Think positive thoughts
BEST-  SMILE

Here's to you 2011 and 26! Let this be the best year ever!

Ringin' in the New Year in C.D.

On the 29th we left the cabin and headed to Castle Dale until after the new year on Jan 2nd.
It was ridiculously cold and therefore a LOT of time was spent inside playing the Wii, and with new toys- (thank you everyone! ) and best of all... with our loved ones!
On New Years Eve we ventured out for a swimming trip and to dinner..Sadly Adelia wasn't feeling well enough to go with us to the pool.
Luckily she was feeling well enough to play with her cute stick horse Aunt Monica made for her.

The New Year was rung in with the kids in bed and half of the adults too! It was low key, but nice.  I even got a Near Year's kiss from the best husband in the whole wide world!

Now we're home, back into real life, and school starts again for Luke in 2 days.  Twenty-Ten was such a good year, even with it's highs and lows regarding school. We hope that Twenty-Eleven is even better and chock full of POSITIVE changes! And hopefully no more school after May! :)
Thank you to all our family and friends who brought us so much joy and happiness as we made 2010 a memorable year. We love you!

More Cabin Fun

A very memorable thing happened on Sunday, the 26th.  All of my siblings, Garth, James, Jana, Jason and 2 of my sister-in-laws, Tori and Joy, and I sang, "O Holy Night," in Sacrament meeting in the Scofield branch.  It really is something I will never forget.  I love singing with my family!

My favorite gift to open up this year was our blog books! I had done a book for both 2008 and 2009 and had them printed up in a nice hard bound book (www.blog2print.com) They turned out so nice! I couldn't be happier since our blog is both our journal and our scrapbook.  With that being true, and a 2010 book pending......... here are a BUNCH more pictures of our fun time at the cabin:

All dressed up and ready for Church
Tianna with Payton and Rylie
While watching "Despicable Me" Adelia found Uncle Casey to be the perfect seat!
Harley, Jocelyn, and Tianna being silly girls!
Cute little Joelle and her mama
It only took 4 days, but Adelia and Pyper finally learned to play happily together-- as long as they were separated by sturdy plastic.
It's snow fun.. i mean So FUN
Luke is throwing a snowball at his wife- Jerk! : )
Talking to Aunt Laura-- HOW WE MISS HER!
Jacomo opening his light sabor from Adelia.
This is a very special ornament Val brought for the tree.
We sure miss you Vittoria! Your spirit was truly felt during the sweet family moments and especially on the sacred holiday honoring our Lord and Savior.

Christmas Time!

The last time I blogged I was escaping from all of the remaining stuff I had to do before leaving for the 10 day holiday break! Now, I'm escaping the after math-aka, the mail pile.

On the 23rd we took off.  The weather was great, traffic stunk in the Provo area, but otherwise, a good trip down to the cabin. Just in time for a story with Grandma before bed.
Christmas Eve!
The day was spent settling into the cabin, cooking, sledding, and making an adorable reindeer piñata. Perhaps we should have spent a bit more time rehearsing the family Nativity : ) but it turned out really cute even with a silly donkey (me), a few grumpy participants, a little girl *cough* Adelia, who kept trying to steal baby Jesus and a "Mary"- Tianna who thought that was VERY upsetting.  We finished the evening off with the opening of new pajamas--including some "Big Sister" and "Little Sister" jammies!

Christmas Day!!!
Oh the anticipation! How rude of us to make the children wait while the cameras get set up!

The best moment of the day was when Adelia first saw her new car.  She immediately ran right up to it, bypassed everything else, and tried to jump through the window to get inside.  I think Santa Claus made the right choice with that toy!

Tianna was also very excited!
Adelia also loved her new baby!
After presents and breakfast we got to be lazy and spend the day enjoying each other's company.
I think what followed that evening may become a new family tradition: the breaking of the pinata!
It was hilarious!!! You couldn't even imagine the serious/determined look each of the kids got as they tried to beat the reindeer open.
They [the kids] cheered, they whacked, they cheered some more. It was seriously one of the funniest and FUNNEST things we have ever done. Finally, after about 3 or so rounds the pinata finally gave way and candy splattered over the room. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful Christmas day.
