Pioneer Day

I love that Utah gets to celebrations in July.. the rest of the nation only gets to play half as much as us! : )
My parent's stake.. well, it's our stake currently, had a huge party the 21st.  It was fun dressing up with the girls.

They made such cute lil Pioneer children

We spent the weekend of the 24th in Castle Dale and attended Orangville Days. So much fun!
It all started with a very early morning for me-- but I ran my very first 5k.  The one i did last year did not count since i was carrying Tianna or running with her for most of it.  So I count this as my first.  My time was 31:16 min.  Not very fast, but the fact that I can actually run that far without stopping is a huge feat for me.  I use to die after running 1/2 a mile.  I was surprised that I actually took 3rd place in my age category and won myself a Gatorade! Suhweet!
 Parade
Children Games (free, might i add!)
 Bounce houses
 Obstacle course
 chillin' with gma Belinda

On a side note from all the fun we had-- I am SO grateful for all the sacrifice and difficulties the Pioneers faced so that we could have so much.  I'm so glad we celebrate and honor them each and every July.

6 Years and Still Going Strong!

On July 8th, Luke and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary.
I planned a very special date for him.  Since we are down in Price for the first time in a long time (with handy babysitters) I thought it would be fun to go around on a scavenger hunt to the places we went while we were dating.  It was also a test to see how good hims memory was.  : )  He nailed it! Even got the trick questions  right.  I was so proud of him............ as I always am. I love him so much and cannot believe how lucky I am to be married to such an amazing man.

(sorry for documenting our night so fully-- but blogs did not exist when we were dating and i want this in our family journal. )
Our date started out with him sending me these gorgeous flowers!
My sister was so kind to watch the girls for the night.  They loved having a sleep over at Aunt Jana's house.  Adelia even gladly took a nap in anticipation!  thanks Hopes' for babysitting!
And thank you Jana for snappin some pics of us.
It was raining so hard when we began our date.
 Awwwww
His Scavenger hunt:
Let's take a walk down memory lane! Before we can move forward to our 7th year, we must first retrace our first steps together.
Assignment one:
Take me to the place where it all began--when I first noticed you, as my kind of man.
[not sure why blogger rotates pictures sometimes]
Our first stop was at the Reeves Building at CEU where we had a class together Spring Sem 2005-  Anthropology.

We had several stops on campus.  We didn't take many pictures because of the pouring rain. But I must say, it was actually rather romantic retracing our old steps while snuggling under the umbrella.  We felt like the only people on campus that night-- and maybe we were.

Since you weren't about to make any moves, Mel decided she needed to be smooth.
Assignment two:
Take me to the place where I (actually Mel) first asked you on a date.
After the Reeves building we went to the cafeteria.  We spent a lot of time getting to know each other during lunch time after our class-- before i dropped the class.  Somehow I still ended up there during that same time each day... can't imagine how. wink wink.

Assignment three:
It's skipping ahead, but hey, it's bliss... take me to the place of our first kiss.
(and I betcha this time you will not miss!) [to make it smoother, some of the scav. hunt wasn't in consecutive order)
Our first kiss took place in the parking lot at the Reeve's building, right after Friday Forum on Feb 11, 2005.

Assignment four:
Our first date was both TASTY and FUN.  In order to get there, we're gonna have to run. Take me to where we went on our very first date.

This one was a little tricky.  He got it right though.  Since i had asked him out on a date first, he took me to Wendy's the night before our planned date for a Frosty.  It was the first one-on-one time we had ever really had.   It was awesome.  Our next first date  the next night was at my house where I made Italian breaded chicken and he made Haitian food.  We doubled with Mel Spencer and Kyle Jensen.  it was a great date!
How perfect is that rainbow?  It was like Heaven was smiling down on us.  My friend was just leaving Wendy's and snapped a pic of us together. But I still wanted one with Luke and the umbrella. Isn't he cute?
Assignment five:
With some food in our bellies, our journey must continue.
Let's  "dance" on over to the local  venue.
Our first dance together was the Valentines Dance in the Community Center... but actually we had danced one dance together at the Fall Ball before we even really knew each other.
That rainbow followed us all night long.

Assignment six:
On February twelfth, 2005, we fell in love, and the words came alive!
Take me to the place of your first, "I love you."
The weekend of the Valentines dance we had been up at the cabin with my family for the Scofield Snow Ride.  That night after the dance he said he realized that weekend that he loved me.  To be honest, i wasn't quite sure i was ready for those 3 words at the time, but it didn't take me long to realize i too was in love.  or maybe just ready to admit it!

Each of the "assignments" were sealed in an envelope.

 Assignment seven:
More jumping around in the sequence of events, but since we're here, it only makes sense.
Before our first home  we needed some space, we had a secret spot, can you find the right place?
 He found the right spot!
Assignment Eight:When our love became serious, we needed "The Talk." Where did we go on that all important walk?
We drove past the park that we walked to, and Luke wanted to add his own item to the scavenger hunt.
"Where was the place that you sang to me for our First Valentines Day"
I may not have been ready to say the 3 magic words, but I felt brave enough to voice it through song.  Several friends and I went around that day singing valentines to people and I made sure to stop by Luke's English class and sing "Be My Baby."  On our little adventure we went up to the CBB building, to the very classroom and I sang to him again.
Assignment nine:
April 28th the "Big Question" was popped.  The next morning for breakfast, this PLACE is where we stopped.
This question was up to interpretation.  The morning after he proposed on April 28th, we ate breakfast at the JB's in town.  The thing is, now that JB's has moved to a new location there is a new restaurant in it's place. We decided to eat there since that was the "place" we were at.  Not to mention, we have eaten at JB's a billion times and never at The Main Street Grill.  it was delish!
Our last 2 stops that night were  at our first home where we lived for 2 years, and the final stop was to the cabin for one night away.  just the 2 of us. It was so nice.
even his breakfast was happy :)
The next morning we took a little four wheeler ride and then came home to spend the rest of the day with our sweet little girls.

thank you Luke for 6 1/2 wonderful years.  Our life and our love is so full.  Here's to the next 6.. or 60!

Summer is for SWIMMING!

This month we have been swimming a LOT! The girls took their first swimming lessons right after the 4th weekend.  It was 2 weeks long and they loved every splashin' second of them!
Because of the times, Adelia and Tianna were in the same class (with my niece, Harley too!) and since Tianna has never had lessons before and there was literally NO WAY I could take Tianna and keep Adelia out of the water I just them both in level 1.  Thankfully, it worked out-- mostly! I just had to be out of sight. I mean, like hide and take peeks at them when they weren't looking.  Their teacher was none to subtle in telling me to get out of dodge whenever I tried to watch them.

But they loved them none the less!

Tianna ended up getting way way sick and couldn't attend the last 2 lessons.  But she was VERY capable of passing the level so her teacher just passed her.  Adelia didn't pass-- no surprise there! Next summer we'll be more serious about it.
Since lessons though, Tianna has gotten really brave with swimming.  Her daddy showed her how to actually kick and get from the wall to us and back.  She learned more from him in 5 minutes than the entire session of lessons :)
We have also just been to the pool a lot.   We have been up to the Helper Pool several times and last Friday we went to the Castle Dale pool with Luke's mom and Aden (nephew.)
"Mom, why did you take a picture of my bum?"  -asked by T just now. haha.
On Pioneer Day, Luke's mom, Belinda and I just didn't feel like taking the kids to the pool... but we wanted to let them play in water on such a baking hot day.  We called up Grandma Peacock to see if we could come play in the water up at her house.  Her and Grandpa were so sweet, they went and bought a little plastic pool for them.  The kids had hours and hours of fun........ and Belinda and I could relax a bit and just watch.
gotta love when grass and water combine!

One of the best parts of summer time is swim-time!

First Annual (?!) Potter Family Reunion

My mom's siblings have always lived fairly close to each other, but for some sad reason, our families have not gotten together very much after their children grew up.  Being the baby of the entire family, I kind of missed out on getting to know my first cousins well.  After all, most of them have children closer to my age.

In January, my mom's brother, Mack, passed away and all of the family united for his funeral.  At the funeral in January, the family was of course mourning... but it was also really fun being together again.  Talking with everyone, it seemed we all had it brought to remembrance how much we enjoy each other's company and that we've kind of missed out all these years of not getting together. The time we all got together before that was at my mom's sis in law, Francis', funeral several years before. As far as reunions go, it's been 8-11 years since we had all gotten together.

I decided that day we need to have family reunions! I went around getting everyone's addresses and phone numbers and we set up a general plan of where and when to have the reunion.

We ended up having it up at my parent's cabin in Scofield on the 2nd of July.
It was so fun! I loved seeing everyone again!
