Gong Xi Gong Xi to all! :D

today is back to work and it seems that the holiday is never enough, keke
i bet everyone have stuffed themselves silly with new year goodies for the past 2 days.
hehe

i was unlucky to wake up on the first day of cny feeling under the weather :( Drank a mug of herbal tea and popped a couple of flu tablets in the morning. It's a horrid day to be sick!

On the way to AhMa house :) i had a good hair day! YAY!!
Photobucket
seeing my lovely cousins somehow made my flu go away, teeheehee
Photobucket

Dad brought his DSLR along and brother & i began posing for the camera, wahaha!!
Photobucket

Next we proceeded to GuMa's place to bai nian :)
met cousin kaya there! hehe
Photobucket
and super cute ZiJie!!!
Photobucket
awwww~~

the crappy cousins started getting bored and self-entertained ourselves (as usual)
It all started with the love letter, haha.. we took one each and headed outside to the staircase landing..
Photobucket
to act as ah lians and ah bengs smoking, wahahaha....
Photobucket
Photobucket
i couldnt help but laugh at kaya's face in this photo! haha!!! super lian lor, ahha!!

and my brother very 'professionally' edited the photo using photoshop into

Photobucket
yes, my brother is damn good at this kinda IT stuff. keke...

Photobucket

After that, the whole lot of us proceeded to another uncle's house and we managed to catch the solar eclipse!!!
Dad brought along an old film and we took turns to look at the sun, haha
Photobucket
and he just needed to cover his camera's lens with the film to take the shots of the sun.

No need to go Science Centre also can watch the eclipse, ahha
Photobucket

it was spectacular!!!
i cut one bit of film to bring it to baby's house after that. Hopefully he could still catch the eclipse.

Brother sent me over to jayen's, and by the time i reached, the sky became cloudy and the clouds covered the sun :(

Something to cheer me up.. Baby's mother prepared a scrumptious meal before us!
Photobucket
Jayen says his mother cooks once a year, so i'm honoured to be able to taste it! YAY
Thank you auntie!!! the food is really really tasty!:D

we planned to go on a movie double date with kaya+lionel, but i was too sick to go anywhere after dinner, so baby sent me back home..

Sunday, January 25, 2009

my brother, cousins and i were walking in a mall in hougang one evening when we spotted a promotional poster outside a bread shop.. It has 2 ladies wearing the nyonya costume holding on to a tray of bread -_-

me: i dont understand what's the hype about the nyonya! everyone is using the stupid nyonya to promote their business!

kaya: i agree!

(walking past the hair salon...)
me: for hair salons, they can have nyonya cut, nyonya perm to promote

(walking past McDonald's...)
kaya: ... and McDonalds will have a new Mc NiangRe!
us: wahahaha!!

(walking past Singtel shop...)
bailin: and they will even have a NiangRe handphone-plan!
me: Yah.. that plan at night cannot talk on the phone one.
us: ROFL

so, STOP BOMBARDING US WITH THE NYONYA, NIANG RE, NYONA, NIANG RE, NYONAAAAAAAAA...........
had a fruitful past 3 days spent with baby!!
we had the best good news received for the past half a year, and it surely lifted our spirits up in time for the new year!!!!

and we thank God so so so much! =)

totally in the mood for shopping and CNY!!
On Thursday, we went shopping at orchard and we bought a pair of couple jeans from Levi's®!
hehe
not couple jeans lar.. just tat the color is the same, yay!
and after some calculations, we decided that it's a good idea to sign up for their membership, cos with an additional of 5+ bucks, we get these 3 items free!
Photobucket
an organiser, a pencil case and a card holder!
very worthwhile, haha

i bought an additional 2 dresses and a top from FarEast. Not for cny cos they are all in shades of grey :(
but still nice!

Had our all-time favourite chili crab xiaolongbaos from Din Tai Fung @ Wisma for dinner!
SLURP!!!!!!
and caught Inkheart the movie =) not too bad a show, haha

On Friday, we went shopping again!!! wahahaha...
This time round, baby bought more stuff! He bought a pair of sneakers from Pedro and a Zara top.
I bought these 2 pairs of shoes..
Photobucket
i actually bought that grey heels first, and baby spotted these gladiator heels.. so i tried. We think it looks really good! They are my highest pair of heels so far i reckon i would have trouble walking properly.
=)

we then caught Fann and Christopher's The Wedding Game for midnight.
The show sucks. really :(
plot is so lame and predictable. It's certainly not worth that $10 and all that waiting for the show to start! :(
Bleh!

Saturday, we met for more shopping again!
downstairs, while waiting for baby to come fetch me... took afew photos, hee
Photobucket
keke...

Baby had his hair cut for the new year =)
Photobucket
Photobucket
and i think it looks good!
me and him already wearing the new clothes we bought the day before, wahaha

baby bought 2 more business shirts for work before sending me over to darlin' shikin's place =)
cos she has very thoughtfully made goodies for me!
Thank you so much, darling!!!! im so touched!
Photobucket
hot mama and her very very cute kiddos! one more in her tummy, HEHE!
Her very smart 3-yr old daughter even knows how to take photos with my digi-cam without having to tell her how to hold and where to press!! Future cam-whore, tau! wahahaha... even though the photos she took are all candid shots of us, haha.. but aey, at least we're still inside the picture, keke
Good job, marsya! ;D

by the way, i felt so blessed these few days!! cos so many people surprised me with so many nice stuff!
Photobucket
baby sent a cny hamper from Noel as a surprise for my family.
i wasnt home tat night and mom said she thought the delivery man made a mistake and she even asked him to take it back, LOL
Thanks baby for being the sweetest!

it's super super yummy!!!!!

and lastly, a church fren sent a belated christmas present and a cny greeting card by mail to my house. i was so touched. yes, i know i have been missing church so long.. i'll go today. (hehe. it's number 8 on my list of resolutions for 2009)

Is it too late already to make resolutions for the New Year?
I hope not.

Better late than never! :)

I do have a few things in mind i want to resolute for the year ahead. Things in 2008 that can be improved on.

1) First on the list can be arguably the first priority for me --> My face.
(ohh, i can almost hear bf, rolling his eyes, saying... "your face again!") Yes, it is not perfect, that is why it is in the list mahh.. and the resolution is definitely not to pick my face anymore!
Flawless complexion comes from non-itching fingers, less make-up and longer hours of beauty sleep.

2) Eat more fruits.
I have this every single year as a resolution, but i am always lazy to cut my own fruits. So now, i buy the pre-cut ones from the fruit-stalls. Higher cost, but at least, things get done!

3) Stop irritating bf whenever the f PMS strikes! (usually around the 20+ of the month)
It's tested! cos i have this habit of noting down details in my diary, like the places we go to, movies we watch, etc. and on particular days when im experiencing extreme moods, i draw either a smiley :) or a sad :_( face.
i found out that usually the sad ones are drawn on days we bicker, and they always fall around the same time of the month! damnit!
So, at least im aware now.. i should do something to be extra careful on those days. Becos the aftermath is always worse off than the PMSymptoms in the 1st place! i've learnt my lessons.

4) Not to be ruthless with people's hearts, but never to put up with those who are ruthless with mine.
Self-explanatory.

5) Study hard and attain as much knowledge as i can possible.

6) Save by:
-Curbing that urge to splurge on shopping (has cut down on that already! but still room for improvement!)
-No cabs, unless absolutely necessary
-Save all the tong-kiahs (50Cents and dollar coins) into piggy bank at home.
Sedikit-sedikit,lama-lama menjadi bukit! (means: Bit by Bit, in the end, it becomes a hill)
I've collected 3 'hills' to date! wahahaha...

7) Be more patient towards my loved ones (particularly my mom... that i can stop reacting adversely to her naggings)

8) i know i need to go to church. Like regularly.

i guess tat's about it for now.
It is 11pm. i need to sleep early so i can fulfill that first resolution! haha!
GOod night!

It was uncle's birthday and we went over to Hougang Point for a simple birthday dinner last evening. The food there is quite yummy, hehe
Photobucket
The pig trotter is some 新年 dish only available this CNY season.
Uncle treated us such a sumptuous spread! Thank you!
Photobucket
Photobucket

Next, my family and my cousins, kaya and bailin, went NTUC for CNY shopping, wahahaa..
The crowd there was humongous! you can seriously get lost in that sea of people! Sunday night, dont go NTUC.. or little india...

supermarket also can cam-whore! :D
Photobucket
we found a secluded spot and cousin bailin helped us to take some photos, wahahaha

tat's all for a family's sunday night!
Simple, loved and fun!

Late night BBall with baby at the stadium near my home
Photobucket
we couldnt have a decent bball game becos blur me brought down a bball without enough air.
but i was very entertained by his bball tricks so i captured the snapshots with my camera, hehe

did up my hair in a new way i learnt from Cleo magazine!
Not the usual 'twirl-and-turn-then-clip" bun, but rather a 'dishevelled but pinned down in a nonchalant manner' as quoted from the magazine.
Photobucket
Tie up the hair in a ponytail, roll and pin down small sections from it with bobby pins.
Spray fix it or add an accessory.
hassle free and 'sexily unkempt'! Easily done in 5 minutes!

Finally one afternoon i'm free to 'roam'!

there are a million and one things to be done.

1) pack my wardrobe
2) file the kids worksheets
3) throw out useless stuff from my room
4) spring-clean the room
5) read through past week's lecture notes
6) start school assignmentS *sian

but before i move my ass to do all these, try a personality test first, hehe..

I'm an Idealist, what about you?
Photobucket
  • Make sense of the world using inner values
  • Focus on personal growth and the growth of others
  • Think of themselves as bright, forgiving and curious
  • May sometimes appear stubborn

Boring stuff, if u are still interested to read on......

Idealists put time and energy into developing personal values that they use as a guide through life. They may seek fulfilment by helping others improve themselves and often want to make the world a better place. Idealists only share their inner values with people they respect.

More about Idealists
Idealists enjoy discussions about a wide range of topics, particularly those that deal with the future. They are typically easy-going and flexible, but if their values are challenged they may refuse to compromise.

In situations where they can’t use their talents or are unappreciated, Idealists may have trouble expressing themselves and withdraw. Under extreme stress, Idealists may become very critical of others, or lose confidence in their own ability to cope.

Recognition for their work is important to Idealists; however, they are also good at spotting false praise.

Idealist Careers
Idealists are often drawn to jobs where they can help people reach their potential. They are also attracted to careers that allow artistic creativity.

Inspired by my creative aunt, i decided to try my hands at wrapping a small gift-hamper to give to baby's family.
It's my first time and it wasnt as difficult as i thought it would be!

you could try it and surprise that someone you love this festive season!
=)

DIY-steps to Wrapping a Hamper

1. Buy the contents, keeping in mind the shapes and sizes. For the base, get something rectangular and flat so that the other stuff can be stacked on it.
Photobucket
I chose a tray of chocolates as the base. Other alternatives include a basket, or simply a plastic tray.. though the latter needed to be wrapped nicely.

2. Secure the contents with lots of tape. Preferably the most expensive item goes to the TOP, but then in my case, the abalone had to stay at the bottom cos like that is more balanced, haaa..
Photobucket

i added some fake flowers and a nice card,
Photobucket
hehe

Next, the tricky part is to wrap the whole thing NICELY with wrapping plastic
Photobucket
the folding, tucking the extra folds of plastic in do take some practice (make sure you dont practise so many times until the wrapper also become cui) and lots of luck. Tape around the top after the whole thing looks tight and contents are secure and STILL VISIBLE

Lastly, add a ribbon or some other deco to cover the ugly tape.
Photobucket
Tah-dahhhh!!!!

LOOKS DAMN PRO RIGHT?
no need to spend hundreds of dollars to buy gift-hampers, just DIY it!

wahahahahaa....im so proud of myself!
=)

im soooo busy i could hardly find time to blog..

school has started and this week is a hectic 4 nights :(

still managed to shop abit during my break this morning,
some loot for the day
Photobucket
1. magic-clean wiper duster! i bought it cos the duster is soooo soooooo soft to the touch!!! plus the packaging is so chio, wahahahaa....
Motivation for me to do some spring cleaning for the 牛 year! teeheehee...

2. The only mineral make-up i see in the market right now that's considered affordable. Maybelline's mineral foundation. Heard raves about mineral make up being healthier to the skin, so bought it once it hits the shelves.
Too bad they only have the loose powder foundation and blush for now, i think i still prefer loose powder or compact powder, which i think will be coming soon!

effect is not too bad, smooth application and hopefully, it doesnt clog my pores!
