Singing and Talking

Morgan and Hattie have really started playing together which is so wonderful to see. Morgan really is such a great big sister. She helps Hattie get toys, helps her get up on things and really watches out for her. That doesn't mean that we don't have our sister moments. I have had to intervene several knock down drag out fights between the two of them...but, I think that just comes with the territory.

One thing they have started doing is playing ring around the rosy together. It is really adorable. Morgan sings the song and Hattie tries to sing along with her. Of course their favorite part is "they all fall down."

One of Morgan's favorite songs to sing right now is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins. I love to hear her sing that song. She only knows a few lines of the song but she does a pretty good job. We will be walking around the mall or in the grocery store and she just sings away. I love the sound of her sweet little voice.

Hattie's favorite thing to say right now (besides no) is "I did it." She gets so proud of herself when she does something, like get on the couch by herself...or whatever it might be. It is so precious to hear her little voice. Another favorite word right now is "juice." It is pretty cute, she pucker ups her lips and says "juisssse." Morgan has even started saying it like her.

Just a few things that I wanted to get down about the girls this weekend.

Movie night

It has been way too long since my last post. So much has happened and I have a lot to update. More to come on that later (Thanksgiving, Christmas...etc.) But, I wanted to get started again on something...writing down the little moments. Sometimes so much happens during this part of the year that I get overwhelmed and don't have a chance to get it all down, but I need to focus on just writing down what is going on so I don't forget, even if it is just a quick little note.

Anyways, on Sunday night we took the girls to see The Prince and the Frog. It was Hattie's first movie and we were a little nervous about how she would do. We even took two cars just in case she wasn't into it. But, to our surprise both girls did great. The whole thing was a success. Morgan loved the movie and sat through the whole thing. Hattie did great, sat for most of it, then in the end she got a little antsy and wanted to get down. She played for a bit and had fun getting up and down from the chairs. But, all in all it was a wonderful time.

The movie theater by our house has table service which is great because you push a button and a server comes to your seat and takes your order. We started off of course with some popcorn which Hattie LOVED. Chad and I split some slider hamburgers and french fries. Morgan then wanted some ice cream (vanilla) and then we finished up with some Reece's pieces. Very healthy, but so much fun. The girls were smiling, dancing in their seats, and at one point Morgan and Hattie were holding hands.

Chad and I were looking at each other during the movie thinking how much fun this was. An outing with our girls. It was a foreshadowing for us as we thought about all the fun activities we will get to do with our girls...Disney world, sea world, movies, shows..etc. As we are loosing our babies it is fun to see them grow up and appreciate all the fun activities there is to do as children. It is going to be so much fun taking them to all the wonderful events in the future and seeing their little faces light up. Disney of course made the movie and the castle was at the beginning of the movie...we asked Morgan if she wanted to go there some day and her face lite up so big...."and meet all the princesses?" There is so much out there in this world for our girls to discover and I am so happy that Chad and I get to be there to help them explore it.

Even though it was a small event of going to the movies on a lazy Sunday afternoon, it was so much more to Chad and I. Something I know the both of us will always remember. The smiles on both the girls faces are imprinted in our memories.

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving in OKC this year. I can't remember the last Thanksgiving I spent at my parents house. It is a very exciting time for my parents because they just bought a new house. They are so excited and have so much to do and to look forward to. This was their last major holiday in the house and I am glad we were able to be there to commemorate the occasion. (Christmas my parents were in Colorado visiting my sister and her family so that doesn't count. )
It was a wonderful relaxing holiday with good food, good wine and good conversation. My parents were very helpful as always with watching the girls so Chad and I even had the opportunity to go to the OU game and visit with some friends.
Here are some pictures from our weekend in OKC.

Arbuckle Wilderness

For Thanksgiving we went up to Oklahoma City. On our way we drove through the Arbuckle Wilderness. As a child I remember hearing the ads for the park and I always wanted to go. It is on the way between Dallas and OKC so we finally decided it was time to see what it was all about. It was so much fun, both for the girls and for Chad and I. You drive through this park and have food for the animals and feed them out of your car. We weren't really sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. The animals were very trained to know that when the cars come through it is feeding time. They were not shy. At one point we had animals fighting over who got into the car window. It was a little frightening at times...but once the car moved the animals would back off. We saw all types of animals...zebras, camels, giraffe to name a few. I even got to feed a giraffe out of my hand. I thought that was the best part personally. The girls sat in our laps in the front seat and loved it. Boomer was in the back of the car and was a little anxious at first, but he calmed down after a bit. There was a wolf (locked up in a cage) and when we drove by he was very excited and knew there was a dog in the car.
As I said earlier, I think Chad and I liked it just as much as the girls. What a great way to break up a drive. There is an exotic animal park the next exit up...maybe next trip we will see what that park has to offer. I highly recommend feeding the animals at Arbuckle Wilderness...the animals are waiting for you.

Halloween

Time to Trick or Treat

Hattie is ready for some candy

Morgan kept saying "This makes me so happy"

Time for the candy

Stella and Erin after the trick or treating

Trying to get a picture of all three kids...Stella was done. Poor thing.

Halloween was so much fun this year. Morgan really enjoyed trick or treating. As we went to each house she would shout ......"This makes me so happy." I love seeing her so happy running around in her little butterfly costume. Yes, Morgan decided she wanted to be a butterfly. After weeks of talking about Snow White all of a sudden she decided she wanted to be a butterfly. Lucky for us, Morgan was a butterfly last year so we just recycled her costume. It fit just perfectly still...she looked adorable as always.
Hattie loved trick or treating as well. She was right behind Morgan at the door's ready for some candy. I am not sure she really knew what was going on, but she knew she was having fun. She looked so adorable in her little pumpkin costume. She was such a good sport about wearing the hat as well.
Erin, Gary and Stella joined us as well. Stella is only four months old but we manged to get her in a few pictures. She even made it out trick or treating with all of us...even if she was in the stroller. She loves being outside and was wide awake the whole time. We brought the wagon along for Hattie as she got tired. Last year we only made it around the culdesac, and this year we actually made it all the way around the block. As it started getting dark and we were only a few houses from home Morgan said she was tired. I was worried that we would have to drag her in, but she wore herself out and was ready to get inside and eat some of her candy.
Since it was only a little after seven we were still able to hand out candy. I think Morgan liked that part of Halloween just as much. She loved seeing all the kids come to our door and was very good at handing out the candy. The only thing we missed out on was carving the pumpkins. Somehow the day got away from us and no pumpkins were carved. Oh well, there is always next year.

This month has really gotten away from me, I have been behind in my blogging. Not sure where the month of October has gone. We went up to Oklahoma the first of the month to celebrate our nephew Cohen's 2nd birthday and to meet our new niece Lyla. We stayed out at the lake and the girls had a wonderful time running around, fishing, riding on the boat, and playing with family. It was wonderful to be able to help celebrate Cohen's birthday with the family and to finally meet sweet little baby Lyla.

The rest of the month has just flown by. Some of the highlights include going on a walk/hike in Fort Worth on a Saturday morning and running into a Cattle drive with thirty or so horses leading 20 longhorns down the Trinity River . It was a exciting little glimpse into the world of a cowboy for the girls. It was a nice treat we stumbled upon on our little family adventure on a random Saturday morning. Chad and I agreed that if we had tried to plan the same experience and timing it would never had worked the same way. Sometimes things just work out like that when you least expect it.

Chad and I were able to attend our first OU/Texas game since children. We had so much fun being adults for a day and seeing old friends. It was a great game despite Oklahoma's lost. However, we were very happy to come home and see our girls and put them to bed. Funny how priorities change over the years.

It has been a very rainy month of October, but one Saturday we managed to sneak in a trip to the pumpkin patch. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful pumpkin patch right across the street from us. They have a corn maze that is right on the corner of the intersection we drive by ever day and Morgan loves to watch the corn grow and grow. She knows that as it gets taller it is almost time to go the pumpkin patch. The girls had a wonderful time despite the cold air. Lots of pumpkins to play with, farm animals to see, slides to go down, tractors to ride, popcorn to eat, hay mazes to navigate through, and much more to keep the girls entertained. Maybe next year we will make it through the corn maze and on the hay ride.

Chad's office had a Halloween party for all the children last weekend. The girls had a test run in their costumes. Morgan is Snow White this year. She actually has been dressing up as snow white all month long. Some days she wakes up and says..."I am not Morgan...I am Princess Snow White." She tells every stranger that she meets that her name is Snow White. At school there is a snow white costume that she puts on every day as well. I think it is amazing how the little mind gets so set on one idea.

Halloween is in a few days and I can't wait to take the girls trick or treating. I know Morgan remembers it from last year and she is very excited. We only made it to a few houses last year, I will be interested to see how many houses we make it to this year. I know Hattie will be right behind her sister running up to the doors to ring the door bell. More pictures to come after trick or treating!

My Girly Girl

I know it is a little early to start calling my one year old a material girl...but she has been so cute these last few days. She LOVES carrying around these two purses. She doesn't like to have just one...she has to have them both. She hasn't quite mastered putting them on her shoulders, but she has figured out how to carry them both. I assume it is because she sees me carrying a purse and right now she likes to be like her Mommy. Just a foreshadowing of what she will be like in the future...I can see lots of purses, shoes, clothes,makeup...I am in trouble! I think I have a girly girl on my hands. What can I say...a girl wants what she wants!
