Lots to see and do in Sedona!!!

One of my favorite places...Chapel of the Holy Cross...
In front of the altar looking out
standing by the fountain out front
Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village...Don't miss this! More info here: http://www.tlaq.com/shop/home.php Best place to eat Mexican food and enjoy a margarita is El Rincon.
Metal art sculptures throughout the village...this is just a few...and I didn't get any photos of the gallery with the stone chairs.

Cathedral Rock taken from a hike on my birthday to Coffee Pot Rock

Coffee Pot Rock on the right ... but look at the side of the rock on the left...me thinks it looks like a side shot of Mama Bear!
One of the most photographed sites in all of Sedona...Bell Rock
What color! Trying to rival the rocks and doing a good job.
Vicki and Susan on our hike to Red Rock Crossing...Cathedral Rock overlooks Oak Creek.

There were treasures all along the path. What fun to run into an entire beach of Cairns...this is but a few. What fun we had...it's amazing what you can pack into a few days.

Final days at Rock Haven

The sunsets here continue to amaze me! The desert is blooming...

Right out the back window is this agave. What a treat it has been to watch. You can almost see it grow! It's grown 6 feet in a couple of weeks and we are really sorry we won't be here to see it flower.
Look what we found in our bag of bags...Moki
Tut relaxing on the couch...
Gizzy fascinated by the water
The Scotts Oriole! What a beauty.

And with this we say good-bye to Arizona. On Monday, May 4th we will be heading to Boise for 9 weeks! We had a great time enjoying the kitties, the desert and Steve and Penny's home at Rock Haven. They have great neighbors too...Marty and Katherine who have been so hospitable with their shop and having us to dinner...they're great cooks! Lucky us...

The Grand Canyon

April was a busy month of company and sight seeing. Our friend Sandi came out to visit from April 8-13 and then Vicki and Susan from April 23-27. We took them to the Grand Canyon, only 100 miles away, Jerome and Sedona. Of course, pictures can't capture the splendor of the Canyon but here is a taste...

One of the few points along the 7 mile trail where you can see the Colorado River
The "Battleship" in the Canyon

Will pose for food...but you're not suppose to feed them. Do you think he knows that?
Quote the Raven "Never More" He sat just a few feet from me hoping to get some trail mix.
A cool twisted tree overlooking the canyon. There is a great hiking trail for 7 miles along the edge. No cars only buses that run every 15 minutes and and stop at 9 different overlooks
Sandi and me enjoying a perfect day!
A California Condor...

This picture reminded me of the Napali Coast on Kauai...Wow, what a country we have!

Nature's Workshop

Months in the Arizona desert has been a time of reflection and creating for Richard. Most of you know we have been selling walking sticks and canes in market places where we've been staying. He loves diamond willow (ordered out of Minnesota) and all this readily available juniper and it has inspired him to have his own hand-crafted line. Here is a pic of sticks in various stages of work.
Like this workshop? He's out there for hours stripping the sticks, sanding them, applying finishes and any other cool touches like turquoise inlays. He's also blessed with a neighbor that has a "to die for" workshop... with all sorts of tools and saws and stuff that makes a woodworker drool. Marty has been extremely generous in inviting him to use his shop anytime. Hence, a couple of trips to Phoenix to buy exotic woods for canes which I'll showcase when they're finished.

This is a Hickory stick with a walnut handle...it also has an inlay of turquoise in the top.
blocks of wood like this...become beautiful handles
This is a preview of his "A River Runs Through It" diamond willow stick
Wow, this pic does not do this incredible diamond willow stick justice!
He's working like a madman to get an inventory built up for his first all hand-crafted arts & crafts show in Sedona on the weekend of April 18-19th. What fun and in such a beautiful place too! More on that later...
