We Got Snow!

Oh my goodness!  We got lots of snow!  Well... a lot of snow for the PNW!  The kids were so happy and they were able to enjoy a SEVEN day weekend!  Craziness!!!  It started to snow on Tuesday night January 10th.  Pete took the boys to mutual and scouts at 7 pm and there was just a tiny bit of snow on the ground.  By 8:00, it had snowed so much we had about 2 inches!  Shaylee and I went for a snow walk while Pete and Maycee went to pick up the boys.  School was canceled on wednesday and so we made plans to go sledding in the morning with some friends.  We got up early and went so the sledding hill wouldn't be too crowded.  We got some great sledding in and were there for about three hours.  Later that day we took some pictures in the snow and they turned out cute.  School was canceled on Thursday and Friday as well.  The kids went sledding on both of those days, too, except Maycee.  She stayed home with me.  I had such a bad cold I couldn't go out in the cold weather anymore.  It was great for the kids to be able to sled and enjoy the snow since we only get snow like this every few years.  We ended up with about 7 inches of snow.

Brandon's friend, Elias joined us for the weekend from Thursday night until Monday afternoon because his dad was out of town.  On Martin Luther King Day, Pete decided to have us do a family service project, so we shoveled our elderly neighbors driveway.  It took about an hour with all of us out there helping.  It was pretty iced over, so we had to use hammers and mallets to break up the ice. It is kind of funny that the way our house faces, the snow melts on our driveway when the sun comes out, so by Monday we had no snow on our driveway, but the houses across the street all had a good 3 or so inches of snow still on their driveways.

The kids didn't have school on the Tuesday after MLK day, either because we got freezing rain on Tuesday.  Finally on Wednesday the kids were back in school.

Snow is falling all around!  On the House tops on the Ground!

I'm Baaaaaack!!!!

So, after lots and lots of thought I have realized that even though my blog takes up time in my life and my life is crazy busy with five kids and all their activities I love to blog.  It is really my only way of journaling.  So, I am back and I am hoping to post at least weekly on the blog. Now if only I can remember how to do everything on here!  Yay!  I am so glad that Pete encouraged me to get back to doing this, I know it will make a difference for me.

Time Out For Women and Crazy Weather

For the last three years I have been going to Time out for women with some of my friends.  I love it and always have so much fun hanging out with my friends without having to worry about kids.  Plus I get to hear some great people talk and hear some great music.  This year was no exception.  We had a great time and some crazy adventures!

Also, at the beginning of November we had some crazy weather going on.  We had three solid days of high winds that knocked down our fence and then to end the crazy wind storm we got some snow!  The kids got out of school early and were so excited.  The snow didn't last long, but snow here is always exciting, whether it s and inch or six.

Ginger Had A Guest

We got to puppy sit our friends dog for 8 days at the beginning of November.  He is a Shi Tzu/ Bichon frise.  I was a bit concerned about how Ginger would react to having a dog in her territory for that long, but she loved having him to play with.  They wrestled and played and chased each other all over the house.  He is quite a bit bigger than her, but she pinned him down most of the time.  Jaron loved to watch them wrestle and when Ginger got him down on the ground he would do the count down "1,,,2,,,3...4...5  Ginger wins!"  It was so funny!  It was great for Ginger to have a friend and it went pretty well, but I definitely decided I only want one dog in my home at a time.

A CONCERT OF FIRSTS

On November 3rd, we had a band concert for Brandon and Kenyon.  It was Brandon's first concert playing the bass clarinet and Kenyon's first concert in percussion.  They both did a great job.  My favorite part was when Kenyon was playing the crash cymbols and every time he crashed them together it created so much air current his hair blew up in the air!  It was pretty funny to watch!  Brandon was also an announcer for the first piece that the 8th grade band played.  I love that my kids are so musical and we get to enjoy their musical talents.
