Humane Shelter

Once a month I wake up early on a Saturday morning throw on an old t-shirt, pull on some torn up jeans, grab my camera and hit the road for the 30 mile drive out to Wetumpka. I am lucky enough to spend a few hours a month taking picture of ADORABLE puppies and kitties for the Elmore Humane Society. It is such a treat to volunteer my time to find forever homes for the unloved and lost animals of this city. It is a lot of work and by the time I leave I am covered in mud and slobber but it is all worth it at the end of the day when I know someone will see my pictures online and come adopt a new best friend. This is also where I found the two joys of my life, Molly and Cowboy. If you are ever looking for something or someone to fill a hole in your heart please visit your local humane shelter, you will be surprised what you find. :)

Here are a few pictures from this past weekends trip...

Aren't they precious??

Dating Anniversary...

Five years ago my family dog passed away from cancer while I was away at school. I was devastated I could not be there to say good-bye. (You all know how much an animal lover I am!) I went to the gym to burn off some steam and get away from it all when I ran into Thomas, the cute boy that was in law school that I had a huge crush on for the past six months. I told him about our dog and I think he felt so bad for me he asked me to dinner to cheer me up. Little did I know this was a date... I thought he was just being a nice friend. Dinner led to several other nights of basketball games, TCBY and late night IM chats but I still thought he was just being a nice guy (you would know why that would make sense if you knew Thomas in college; the goal oriented, girls aren't going to get in my way kind of guy) But then he asked me to his spring fraternity party, Purple Passion. I learned quickly that night that this was more than just friends when he walked me to my door after the party... and the rest is history. Thanks for asking me to Purple Passion Thomas... even though I still wonder what they put into that drink to make it purple.
