Another project

As if I didn't have enough things to be working on right now, I started a little scarf for me last night.

I purchased some of the 'Sashay' yarn, it is comes with the fancy crocheted look to it and all you have to do is knit it or crochet it into your scarf.

Here is my progress, It is a cloudy rainy day here so I didn't get a great picture of the true colors but, you ca see the finished look.

I have some cutting to finish and then I am going work on the scarf while watching movies and waiting on laundry this afternoon.  Have a great day everyone.

WIP Wednesday

I'm linking up with W.i.P Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced this week, no it is nothing new if you a regular reader, but if you are visiting it is a great place to get inspiration or learn tips and tricks from other bloggers.  There is also some beautiful work to be found as well.

Last October, when my husband and I were on vacation I came across a quilt at a shop in Las Vegas called 'Frosted Stars'  I immediately fell in love with the design and the fabric used. Seriously who doesn't fall in love with cute little snowmen?

Well when I ordered fabric 10 months ago to make this quilt I thought to myself that I didn't have enough of the 'scrap yardage' to make it, so it has sat in the closet with the pattern for all this time.  I decided on Monday that I was going to face the 'demon' and if nothing else make the pattern smaller so I could complete the quilt top.   I really want to get this finished for the holiday season.  As I was cutting my strips yesterday, I came to realize that I am short just a very small amount!  I was really excited and pressed all the creases out of the fabric so I could see just what I was missing.  I'm short some sashing and back ground fabric.  I'm sure I can find something at the local quilt shop to fill my void or even order something from the Fat Quarter Shop and still get this finished for the holidays.

I can't wait to get this project done

I also have a few other 'sewing' projects on the list that are going to slow this quilt top down, but I know I can do it.

My daughter who is 4 picked up a roll of purple organza at the fabric store the other day I and instead of telling her no, I said 'mommy can make you a skirt'.  What the heck was I thinking?  I have never sewn organza before...so if you have any tips I would love to hear them.  Since it is only 6" wide and 15 yards long, I am thinking a little tiered, ruffled, skirt for dress up/Halloween.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday.

Test Kitchen Tuesday

Yeah, I've got nothing really today.   I did make for myself the Italian Chicken Pasta last week and I do have to say it was delish!  So today I am going to tempt you with pictures of yumminess.

I did not add the peas that the recipe called for since I think I over did it when adding the other veggies.

In the sewing world, I finished my table runner and got it mailed off yesterday.  I will talk more about that later in the week.  Today is library day, so I need to round up books and movies to return.

Have a great day everyone.

WIP Wednesday

Welcome everyone!  Today I'm linking up with Lee's WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced.

One thing I haven't really talked about on my blog is a little group I belong to on Facebook called Sew Swap-it where we do monthly swaps.  The group is open to anyone. This month we are doing fall table runners, Sign-ups are currently open for next months project for which will have a Christmas theme to it.

I have the top of my table runner pieced but have had some sewing machine issues so I need to experiment on some scraps to make sure quilting won't be a challenge on my Grandmother's old machine.

This little candle mat was the start of my original table runner, and well things don't always turn out the way you want.  It is still usable and not a total flop so I'm not too disappointed. The patter for the candle mat was adapted from a Moda Bakeshop pattern.  It is very easy to do, I suggest following the pattern, instead of trying to make it will smaller pieces.  I will learn these things one day. :-)

I also still need to quilt my Sew Intertwined quilt along quilt.  If you would like to make one you can access all of the links to the blocks on the flickr group.

Thanks for stopping by, I have lots of quilting that I need to figure out how I'm going to get it done.  If you found your way here from Lee's WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced, thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come back again.

Test Kitchen Tuesday

Tuesdays have become super busy in my house. I feel like I my feet hit the ground running and don't get a chance to rest until mid to late afternoon.  This morning I opened the front door to take my son to the bus stop and immediately shut it turned around and went to the closet to grab some jackets.  It was quite chilly out, and that always puts me in the mood for something that simmers all day in the crock pot.

One thing I don't think I make near enough (basically because I'm the only one in the house who eats them) is baked beans.

Baked Beans

3- 16 ounce cans baked beans, drained
1 medium onion chopped
1/4 cup molasses (can substitute corn syrup or kayro)
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
6 slices bacon, crisply fried and crumbled (optional)

Place all ingredients in the Crock pot and mix thoroughly. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.

What I Finished Friday

I made mention yesterday that I had finished the top for the Sew Intertwined quilt.

So in all it's glory here she is!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and a relaxing weekend.

Pay it Forward's completed

I mailed my final pay it forward gift on Monday, and Jessica received it yesterday, so I can finally share with you her gift. Jessica blogs over at Noguchi Designs she also has her own web store, so finding the right thing to make was ever changing.

I finally settled on this cute little wall hanging.

I found the pattern for this little wall hanging here, in case you like it and would like to make one for yourself or a friend.

I really enjoyed doing the pay it forward.  I am a bit disappointed that I didn't hear back from the first person I sent to, but I guess that is how the ball bounces, and I'm glad to have made new friends by participating in this.

Here are the other Pay It Forward's I made.

I hope everyone has a great day.  I finished my Sew Intertwined quilt top yesterday and I will share that with you tomorrow, but today I'm working on a table runner for a swap.

Test Kitchen Tuesday

Good morning! Today's recipe is no where near healthy,  but it is a special treat that is a favorite of my husbands.

Chocolate Peanut Clusters

1 1 pound pkg. bulk chocolate/almond bark
1-2 jars of unsalted peanuts
1/4 cup peanut butter

Melt chocolate in double boiler, stir in peanut butter until smooth. Dump in peanuts, and stir until peanuts are well coated, drop by tablespoon full on to waxed paper or parchment paper and let sit up.  Store in air tight container.   We keep ours in the refrigerator.

Sew Intertwined progress

I'm making progress on the Sew Intertwined quilt, in fact I'm in the process of making borders for it.

I'm hoping today that I am able to get the borders finished up. I'm really falling in love with this quilt and I hope my daughter loves it as much as I do.

Test Kitchen Tuesday

Test Kitchen Tuesday will resume next week, as my day has been completely thrown off kilter so to speak.

It is currently 5 p.m. where I live and it just dawned on me that today was Tuesday, even though I took the girl to story hour at the library this morning which is our normal Tuesday routine.  Throwing my day off kilter was discovering this morning that the air conditioner was not working, running errands that I normally do on Mondays, and being in a very hot and humid house waiting on a repair man to come and say there was ice in it and it was a wait it out and see kind of deal.  It is 90 flipping degrees out, no breeze and 70% humidity.

I just hope that the ac is 'thawed' out so I can have a cooler house come bed time.

Until tomorrow...
