Work in progress

I hope everyone is doing well.  I'm becoming a really bad blogger as of late, and for that I apologize, and to be honest I really haven't done a whole lot of sewing either, well at least it feels that way.  I don't think there is anyway possible for me to meet my goal for this months 'A lovely year of finishes'  I'm going to keep plugging away on it though.  I feel that just because I probably won't finish doesn't mean I'm a failure.  Maybe next month or another month it will get done.

I would love to show you a picture, but my phone is being contrary and I'm unable to upload  my photo.  It keeps giving me a service error, so I will need to find where my hubby hid the regular camera and get a picture later.

Indiana Heritage Quilt Show

I visited the Indiana Heritage Quilt show on Friday, I would  say mostly because it was a 10  minute drive and only $8 to get in.   There weren't as many vendors this year as last year, but is was still fun to go and look at the quilts and see what different shops have and focus on.   I love to look at the quilts the most.   I don't care if they won first prize, I think it is wonderful that the quilt maker was willing to share their work with thousands of other quilters.   So without further ado, here are some of the entries from our local show, I took all of these pictures with my cell phone so please forgive any bad exposure.  I edited them to the best of my ability.

9"x11" mini quilt
Thread art.  The boarder looks to be hand dyed, and then the center is all thread, The picture does it no justice.

I love the circles in this quilt and you will see by the next picture the amazing quilting.

This is just stunning to me.

A great use of scraps and imagination

These sea turtles were beautiful.

A bit of fantasy.  Lillian loved this quilt.

This one was fun.  It reminds me of the 'the little mermaid'

I love the bright colors here and even though the quilt looks difficult the pattern looked quite simple to me.

The star really stood out to  me

I may or may not have been inspired at one of the booths to make something with these.

The very small squares paired with the log cabin blocks here  is just stunning.

I have a thing for this quilt.

The back was beautiful. and if you look closely you cans see the circles from the front.

I think this quilt was at the show last year.  The gold looking border is actually the preamble to the U.S. Constitution.

A close up of some of the quilting and the wording.

a bit more.

This is the back of it. On the hanging sleeve are the words to the song  'I'm proud to be and american' by  Lee Greenwood.

This is just creepy, but really cool and I'm sure it took a ton of work.

applique work always earns my respect.  The black and white quilt to the left was a little trippy.

My little buddy with her mermaid doll.  She doesn't get to come to the show with me next year since she will be in school.

Another stunning quilt where the back is as beautiful as the front.

I can't imagine the hours of quilting this must have taken.  Even if was done on a long arm changing threads and bobbins, takes time.

I hope I didn't bore you with all the pictures,  but sometimes we just like to look and drool.

A lovely year of Finishes- March goal

I can't believe we are into March already!  2013 is going fast.  I wish I could say that I hope life slows down soon, but I don't see that happening.  My son is on spring break next week,  I can't believe that is already here.  Soccer will be starting soon as well and that will take up lots of time, but that is no big deal.  Next month I get to sign my baby up for Kindergarten.  Time is really going fast!

Now lets focus back on March.  It is time for me to share my goal for this month.  I have decided to put together some 2" squares that I cut several years ago in hopes to one day make into a quilt.  I don't think this will be a very big quilt since I am just 'using' them up.  I have well over 1000 of these little squares.

I know the top won't be huge, but I think it will be plenty large enough for a little sprout to snuggle with.
