Turning 5

My baby is 5 years old today.  I'm not sure what I wanted to be when I was 5, I'm guessing a mommy, but my little girl wants to be a Princess.

Time has most definitely gone by fast.  It seems that just yesterday, she was sitting in her bouncer smiling at me.

She has grown up so much!

Happy 5th Birthday baby girl, mommy loves you! You will always be  My Little Princess.

Happy Monday

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  My husband didn't ask for much, the only thing he asked for was a family picture after church yesterday.

It has been a while since we took a family photo.  This is newest picture I could find of all 4 of us and it was taken a year ago.

My oh my have the children grown in a year.

I've finished my goal for A lovely year of finishes already, but I will blog about that next week.  I'm already trying to plan next months goal.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead of them and that you all get lots of sewing done.

Finding Calm

The past couple of months have be extremely hectic, with busy schedules and taking on too many projects.

This quilt took a lot of time.  16 of the blocks had to be taken apart and sewn back together because they were too small.

My sewing/cutting table got a bit out of control.

I'm happy to say that as of last week things are a bit more under control.

Mr/Miss Octopus was a fun distraction.

I made a tote bag for a swap.  My swap partner loves it.

It even has a nice 3 section pocket inside.

I made a pattern off of a top and then made 2 tops off of said pattern.

A little star block for another project.

Someone completed first grade.

And we finished up the Spring season of community soccer.

There were a few more things but I think this really sums up the past 2 months for me and I'm happy to have some down time in which for the most part I'm still sewing, but not having big deadlines.

A Lovely Year of Finishes, June goal

I've really teeter tottered on setting a goal this month since my son is out of school and I'm trying to make it a great summer for the kids and do lots of activities.   The last 2 months I feel like I over extended myself so this month I'm going small and I'm choosing something that is portable a.k.a. I can work on it while I'm at the park with the kids or sitting next to the pool watching them swim.

A few months back a friend sent me a box of Sun Bonnet Sue blocks that her grandmother had started before she passed away and asked me if I would finish them.  She told me there was no rush, but she would like to have 2 twin-ish sized quilts from them.  She chose me because she knew I had a passion for quilting and was confident that I would do a great job.

I have decided that I am going to finish 1 yes only 1 of the 28 additional blocks I need to make for her quilts.

Here are some that her Grandma finished so you can see what I'm up against.

All of the black is hand stitching.  That may or may not take me a while.

Of course her Grandma had to  stitch almost every single one differently as well.

My goal is to do one, but if I can do more than one that will be wonderful.
